Many primates are put in enclosures for public eyes, and shenanigans always ensue when the public instigate them.

Imagine if humans were put into enclosures. What could possibly go wrong?

What if, instead of being shamed for eating the fruit in the garden of eden, Adam and Eve were praised for learning?

"Congrats, you two have knowledge, now go out and learn about the world."

The God of the Bible is turned into a disappointed father rather than an angry God.

"Why did you guys do that? You should've known better."

"A family of 8 made a boat without any directions, I just gave dimensions. They're smarter than all of you."

the fact that we only have β€œherculean task” and β€œsisyphean task” feels so limiting. so here’s a few more tasks for your repertoire

icarian task: when you have a task you know you’re going to fail at anyways, so why not have some fun with it before it all comes crashing down

cassandrean task: when you have to deal with people you KNOW won’t listen to you, despite having accurate information, and having to watch them fumble about when you told them the solution from the start (most often witnessed in customer service)

feel free to chime in i ran out of ideas much faster than i anticipated

A great insult for a piece of literature: "drier than a stale loaf of bread."

Y’ever read something and have understanding that has eluded you interminably suddenly stop, curl up, and snuggle neatly into a fold in your brain because a new way way opened to it?

I heard that's the sign the hatter needs a new hobby. Poor forms means poor fitting hats which leads to buckles

Environmental storytelling toilet skeleton with the obligatory ominous personal journal lying on the floor beside it, except the journal entries continue beyond the writer's death, with periodic updates describing events occurring in and around the abandoned restroom where the skeleton is located and offering wry observational humour about the process of decomposition, all in the same highly distinctive authorial tone as the entries from life. Following several large time skips owing to nothing interesting happening during the omitted spans, the final entry ends with a notably uncomplimentary description of the player character entering the restroom.

Fun fact: the 8 hour work day is a rather recent concept.

Meaning, prior to that, people (on average) worked less per week. But I'm guessing it heavily depended on the person and the work demand

Imagine that: Joseph the scrib only worked 6 hours today, writing only 4 pages of this massive tome he's a part of doing.

Why 4 pages? The prep work for each page and the quills, the slow process of writing each word, and scratching out each mistake as they happen.

On the flip side, Nathaniel the local blacksmith is living in the shop all day and night because of the backlog of orders and repairs. He had to hire a couple apprentices to help and he's still behind.

Mat is a painter and he wasn't feeling it for the last week, so he's been causing havoc at the local market; putting things in the wrong booths which confuses the hell out of customers and annoys the merchants.

Abrahamic religions can be compared to a grilled cheese sandwich:

Is it cut diagonal, horizontal, or vertical?

Why argue when it's the same sandwich

All it takes is some gas and a match.

What always bothers me with modern depictions of Thor and hammer is the idea that mjolnir has to be this large, heavy head that would weigh an insane amount on a wooden handle.

Have you ever seen a mjolnir pendant? It's one piece; that fact is pulled straight from the eddas.

If the hammer wielded by the strongest man of Asgard was one piece of iron (steel faced for strength), it had to be huge and weigh a metric butt-ton or was rather small but hit like a brick. The latter would've been just as intimidating, if not more, since that thing once flattened a mountain in one swing.

"Yes, you may be able to *lift* the hammer, but you'll never be able to *use* it."

Just another philosophy point on the character of ÞoΕ• OΓ°inson.

Immortality is an interesting thought experiment. Yes, looking young while being shockingly old is a fun thing to suprise people with, but the concept of time itself would be so terrible that everything would be a blur. Your friend would have to correct you on what happened when.

"That happened in the 60s,"

Really? What century?

"1960's."

Was that during speakeasies?

"No, that was during the 1920's. The 60's had hippies and Woodstock."

Oh, yeah. Everything's been a blur since everyone got a car.

They'd also probably forget EVERYONE'S name because the immortal has been around for so long. So it'll feel like you're doing with your great grandparents all the time.

Henry?

"No, I'm Steve."

Oh. You remind me of Henry.

It dawned on my why in "historical/medevial" movies, nothing is what it should be, be it the armor of that time, the outfits of that decade (yes, they changed that quickly), the architecture isn't of the time period, or even the accent is incorrect

Either:

A) The people behind it don't care that much

B) The items would be too expensive to produce. Just look at Henry VIII's armor; that stuff is stupid, complicated, and fancy... wait, LOTR has crews slave away at chainmail, which is very time-consuming and can get very complicated

C) You'll never tell who's who on the battlefield... oh wait, banners exist

D) History is too boring or takes forever to hit all the main points over a century... even though there are ways to show the passing of time and, just, game of thrones

E) speaking on an OP or earlier accent can get unintelligible if you're not accustomed to it... but subtitles exist

And finally. 99.99% of the time, axes and swords are worn on the hip, not the back. The only exception is the beast being oo long to wear on the side.

Spears are cheap and are stupid easy to use, especially with a sheild.

Combat is always fast and can lead to a messy ground fight. Yes, getting bonked really hard is an option. Bows were used by strong people and were fired quickly and/or with high precision (trick shots were used to pass the time, not hitting archery targets)

People snuffing it was a normal occurrence, be it from illness, infection, accidents, or fighting.

"But it's a movie," yeah, and my countless hyoerfixations say otherwise

How to use Tumblr:

Like Twitter without the character limits, and no one went "um actually"

Like reddit, just there's more like the cafeteria and less of a classroom

Like Facebook, if you didn't care.

Express yourself! Shitpost! Be an idiot! Just remember that nothing matters, and we're all here for the same reasons... and we forgot all of them
