I Hope You Don't; For Me This Is Our Reality. Every Day We Lose Someone We Love ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ˜”

Have you lost a family member and felt the pain of regret and loss?! ๐Ÿ˜ญ

I hope you don't; for me this is our reality. Every day we lose someone we love ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ˜”

Last year I lost my uncle and his entire family in a missile attack on his displacement site in Rafah, and Al Jazeera YouTube reported.

Today, I am in pain as I miss the dearest to my heart, my father, who suffered from a stroke that caused him quadriplegia. He could not cope with the catastrophic life as we lived in a tent that was like a grave. His weak body was exposed to malnutrition as a result of not providing the necessary food for his condition, and the severe cold caused him to have a heart attack that led to his immediate death.

I wake up terrified every night. I check on my family, whom I fear will die of cold ๐Ÿฅถ๐Ÿ˜ฐ

And it was not limited to this, but our tent that shelters my family, children, and my brother Samer, who suffers from a chronic illness, was flooded and swept away under the dirt as a result of the heavy rains. Our tent has become worn out and does not protect us from the winds and rain โ›ˆ๏ธโ›บ

I am Maryam, a children's teacher from the Gaza Strip. I am 35 years old. I am married and have two children, Muhammad and Mahmoud. I am now five months pregnant. I was living happily with my husband and children in our beautiful home ๐ŸŒน until October 7th came and the war on Gaza began ๐Ÿ’”

Stop Don't Skip ๐ŸคšPlease Help My Children ๐Ÿ™

Because of the war, I lost everything: my home, my work, and my husband's work. We became homeless and because of death that always haunts us. I was displaced with my husband and children with all the feelings of fear and pain ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ fleeing the bombing and under the showers of bullets, walking on foot in search of a safe place to take shelter in ๐Ÿ˜ญ. We did not find any place to take shelter in and we spent a few days under the showers of rain without shelter. We now live in a tent that does not protect us from the heat of summer or the cold of winter.

Life has turned into a mixture of suffering, pain, and searching for a living. My children suffer from diseases constantly due to the polluted water and widespread diseases. My children were infected with hepatitis. I faced many difficulties. My house was demolished ๐Ÿฅบ and my husband lost his job, which was Our livelihood, my family home and my childhood were destroyed and we were left with nothing. Memories were erased and because of the repeated deaths we were displaced for the third time amidst the bombing and destruction. My beautiful city has become a place of ghosts, unfit for life.

We are now homeless and without a livelihood๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ’”

Please help me so that I can leave the Gaza Strip with my children and husband and we can live in peace. Help me to rebuild my life, to restore my children's childhood, help me so that I can provide a decent life for my children and husband๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ‰โค

We have 30 days until the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) laws are rescinded. This is the 50-year bedrock of American conservation. Normally, these actions take years but the administration has provided 30 days for public comment gutting clean water and clean air. Drop what youโ€™re doing, before you make any more calls or read any more social media posts, please populate the Federal Register with dissent.

A. Go to https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2025/02/25/2025-03014/removal-of-national-environmental-policy-act-implementing-regulations

B. Click on the green rectangle in the upper right corner ("SUBMIT A PUBLIC COMMENT") .

C. Fill in your comment, and info at the bottom, and SUBMIT COMMENT.

On This Day In History

May 11th, 1985: American activist Aubri Esters was born.

On This Day In History

Esters was one of the most important early names in harm reduction advocating. The harm reduction movement emphasizes decreasing stigma and harm of various behaviors without requiring total abstinence--often in regards to drug use or sexual activity. Today, harm reduction is typically considered both the most effective way to address drug use, and the most dignified for the people it helps.

Esters herself was a drug user, in her own words, "a person who happened to use drugs". She benefitted from available services, notably methadone access (methadone relieves opioid cravings, allowing people with addiction to function). She saved many lives by carrying naloxone (Narcan, used to reverse the effects of opioids during an overdose).

Esters was a disabled trans woman. She was a drummer. She pioneered and fiercely advocated for people in her community, and changed the opinions of politicians on drug users.
