Archimedes used to demand just one firm and immovable point in order to shift the entire Earth; so I too can hope for great things if I manage to find just one thing, however slight, that is certain and unshakeable.

“God” is actually two people: one who is omnipotent but not omniscient, and the other who is omniscient but not omnipotent. They both hate each other.

The tortures of Hell are unbearable for the first few years, but after a while people get used to them and Hell becomes a social club for the damned. You, a common sinner, are socializing with some of history’s greatest blackhearts.

What's that poem about the cockroach and the moth where the cockroach is like "I wish I've ever wanted anything the way that moth wanted to burn itself up in that lantern" because we had to read that in high school and it still fucks me up to this day

So the concept of uncanny valley has always concerned me. We have this innate fear of that which looks human, but isn't. As if we had to evolve this fear to stay safe against some predator that impersonated humanity.

And now we live in an age, where the only way to tell if a photo is actually an AI rendering, is to look for a 6th finger on the hands.

I'm not sure I believe there has been ancient advanced technological societies that have collapsed and been lost to time. But there's something about the idea that AI art will inevitably be used in propaganda, combined with our fear of the uncanny, that makes me wonder if we haven't done this before.

Once the bugs get ironed out, AI Image Generation will forever change propaganda and how easy it is to make and distribute.
