a/n: i'm not really proud of this series but i still want to post it. this is the final part of the charles leclerc series so enjoy!!!

The APM gala was way busier than the last time i attended one. I still don't know why i decided to come since i know that Charles is gonna be here tonight. After the breakup our relationship has been different, we ignored each other, he got himself a girlfriend then he started talking to me again. I don't know what to do anymore.

I walked around with a drink in hand looking at the people in the crowd. I always enjoyed analizing the people that surround me. Some couples were together having fun, laughing and kissing.

I missed Charles. He was late, probably busy with shoving his tongue down his girl's throat in his car or something.

I heard some people go quiet in the crowd and a few whispers. That's when I saw him. He was walking alone in the middle of the room - wait alone? Where was his girlfried?

He looked around the room and his eyes landed on me. Time seemed to stop as we got lost in each other's gaze. A small smile made its way on his face as he walked over to me.

"Well look who decided to show up. How are you?"

"Hi Charles. I'm good thanks...you?"

Charles furrowed his brows clearly confused by my formal answer.

"Um...Good thanks"

We stood there awkwardly before i spoke up.

"You didn't bring Alexandra?"

"We brokeup. She only wanted to fame so it's better like this."

"Oh....I'm sorry"

"It's fine maman was here to cheer me up"

"How is she?"

"She's good....she misses you...and I do too" He whispered the last part almost ashamed to say it.

"You can't say this Charles. If you really missed me you wouldn't have dated Alexandra and would've reached out. I still love you Charles but i don't want to get hurt again"

He looked at me softly and cupped my cheek.

"I love you too and I'll do anything to win you back."

He caressed your cheek softly with his thumb.

"Can I kiss you?"

"Not here Charles"

"Where then?"

"There's a balcony over there" I said before linking our fingers together and heading to the balcony.

We reached the balcony and I immediately felt a shiver run down my spine because of the cold breeze outside. Charles saw it and quickly draped his jacket over my shoulders. I smiled up at him and he did the same with love and adoration in his gaze.

I walked to the ariling and looked at the beautiful sight of Monaco's lights and sea. Charles walked over to me but i only realised that he was there when he rested his hand on the small of my back. He leaned closer and whispered.

"You're breathtaking."

I kepr looking ahead of me and smiled. We just stood there for a while admiring the view with his hand still on my back. It almost seemed like nothing changed, like if we were still dating. But then Charles spoke up.

"If i remember you promised me a kiss princesse"

You looked up at him to find him smirking down at you.

"You didn't change did you? Still that same cocky bastard that I dated. You only think about yourself." you said getting away from his touch.

Charles frowned.

"What do you mean? I just asked to kiss you I thought you wanted it too"

"Not without any meaning."

"It can mean something if you want!"

"No because if i let you in you'll hurt me again!"

"Putain! Pourquoi tu m'écoute pas?!" he yelled. 'fuck! why don't you listen to me'

You knew that Charles only talked fully in French when he was furious.

"Stop being dramatic Charles! You're not the one who spent nearly one year alone hoping that their ex will come back!"

Charles looked at you softly. He didn't know that you felt that way.

"I...I'm sorry I didn't mean to snap at you." you said "Maybe it's better if we don't see each other anymore since we always fight"

"I...I know chérie but I don't want to let you go again, I love you too much to lose you. Don't leave please"

"I....I love you too, and I'll give you another chance but don't mess it up. I don't want to get hurt again."

"I promise I'll try everything to earn you back. I'll be a better boyfriend. Please...Leo really needs a mom."

You chuckled.

"Fine, but onlt for Leo."

Charles smiled beofre wrapping his arms around you.

"I love you"

"I love you too"

You looked up at him and saw him looking down at you. His eyes sparkled because of the lights outside and when his lips met yours, you really saw

1 year ago. That was the last time you talked to Charles after you broke up. He put you through so much pain and you cut all the contact with him not to get hurt again. You stopped following him on social media, blocked his number and stopped watching his races. You keep telling everyone that you’re fine even if it’s not the truth.

This was the first notification you saw this  morning on your phone. You looked at the pictures and saw Charles and her holding each other and leo and you couldn’t help but feel hurt at the reminder that you once were this girl. You were tempted to text Charles and that’s what you did. 

 Was all you sent to him. You got ready and headed to your work. While walking you bumped into someone much taller than you. "Sorry it’s my fault I wasn’t looking" you apologise before looking at the stranger’s face and meeting those eyes the ones that made you fall in love and broke your heart. Charles. The picture of him holding her played nonstop in your mind and you wanted to throw up. 

You immediately walked away before Charles could say anything and noticed a girl walking past you and his way. Alexandra. She glanced at you before going to her boyfriend. Your work day was extremely exhausting and when you came back home you showered before ordering a pizza and watching a random tv show. 

Your phone buzzed with a message and you looked at it realising that it was a text from charles.

The text said then, a dm on instagram from Alexandra popped up on your screen and you read it.

You were nearly shocked by it but then remember how girls tended to be overprotective when they were with Charles. You didn’t want to answer her directly, instead you posted a picture of you on your couch.

It was clearly directed to Alexandra. Charles liked your post clearly not understanding the real meaning. 

A few days after, you were at a bar waiting for Charles. He asked you to talk to try and become friends again. You saw him from afar and smiled at him. When he smiled back with his dimples full on display, you could swear that you saw your heart jumping out of your chest. 

"Hi" he said sitting in front of you. "Hi" you said back smiling at him. "How are you? How’s it going with Alexandra?" He hesitated before answering. "I’m not that good but Alexandra's helping me keeping my head up so yeah things are good between us." You smile softly. "You deserve happiness Charles…I hope on day I’ll find it to." He smiled at you sadly. "She’ll be happy to meet you y’know" he said attempting to lighten the mood. "I’ll be happy to see you more too." He leaned a bit closer. "We…we can’t Charles you have a girlfriend" you say before storming away. 

You got to your house and decided to make an instagram post to clarify to everyone that it wasn’t really over between you and Charles for you that the pain was still here. 

Charles phone buzzed with a notification. He looked down at it and opened it to see a picture of you crying with mascara staining your cheeks.

Once he read it he realised that your story wasn’t going to end like that. That another chapter could change everything.

a/n: this is the first part of a three part story that i wrote hope you'll like this as much as i did writing it <3 inspired by taylor's song wonderland (includes some lyrics)

You and Charles started dating 6 months ago when his dog Leo, attacked your cat lily since you both lived in the same building. He invited you to his house to apologise and you soon became friends but friendship soon turned into something else. You and Charles saw each other everyday and soon dates were a normal thing for the both of you. You still remember your first kiss. It was at Charles house during a movie night, you both were sitting on his couch and he suddenly kissed you. 

You started dating a few weeks after and even moved in with him even if he was never home because of races. Your life was perfect until today. Charles came back home one day extremely angry. You got up from the couch, a concerned expression on your face as you approached him. "You good Charlie?" He didn’t even answer. He stormed past you making you stumble against the wall and headed to his gaming room. He started streaming with his friends and you heard that his voice was filled with pure joy and happiness.

You started making dinner thinking that maybe you were the problem and that Charles was mad only because you were here. Charles finished streaming and his smile disappeared when he entered the kitchen. "I made pasta for dinner Charlie." You smile at him. He answers with a simple hum and sits at the table.

You both are eating and you reach out on the table to take his hand in yours but he withdraws his hand when you try to touch it. You furrow your brows and look at him with a confused expression. "Have I done something wrong Charlie?" You ask. "Don’t call me Charlie not after what you’ve done to me." Your confusion only grows with Charles’ words. "Don’t act like you don’t know what I’m talking about. I know you cheated on me."

You felt the world crumble around you. Did Charles just said that? "Sorry what? I never cheated on you Charlie I love you I really do you know that right?" He doesn’t answer. "Right?" Your face falls as he still doesn’t answer. A hot tear spills down your cheek but Charles doesn’t reach up to while it. "We need to break up Y/N. I told you that you didn’t have to rush things but you did it. We took a wrong turn and fell down a hole." 

"You’re the one who rushed your eyes at me. It’s not my fault people started to whispering about us and that it turned into talking. It’s not my fault I am in love Charles." Tears spill down your cheeks and your voice cracks at every word. The next day when Charles woke up, you were gone. Nothing from you was left in his apartment and he regretted his actions. He should’ve never done this. 

A few months passed and you found yourself walking in Monaco when suddenly a hand holding your wrist blocked you. You turned around to be met by golden eyes that you knew all too well. "Charles…" you whispered. "I’m sorry for what I did cherie let me arrange everything I beg you. I can’t live without you I want my girlfriend back." His eyes were glossy and your heart almost gave in. "Désolé Charles but it’s to late. I reached for you but you were gone, I knew I had to go back home. You searched the world for something else to make you feel like what we had." He let go of your wrist. "And in the end in wonderland we both went mad." A tear ran down his cheek as you walked away. 

As much as you hate to admit it, your heart still beats for him. You tried to move on but it was to hard you loved him so much but he broke your heart and you didn’t want to suffer anymore. You pulled your red scarf higher and adjusted your cardigan. Life was going to be hard but you promised yourself that you won’t suffer again because of love.
