GOD I MISSED DRAWING THESE GUYS, LIKE MAKING FULL ILLUSTRATIONS- Ive just had 0 good ideas- but listening to “I Need Some Sleep” by Eels is what did it.

You know when you wake up from a dream and you still feel all the emotions it gave you, but the harder you try to remember the more it escapes from your grasp? And even when you remember small details for just a moment, you forget, and will never remember again. yeah thats how I imagine Sans felt when Wingdings died-

This takes place before Sans learned to accept and love what he has now instead of holding onto the past, BUT HERES THE THING ABOUT THE MINDSET HE HAD BEFORE- he couldn’t even remember what or WHO he was still trying to hold onto. He just knew it had been different, and I imagine he grieves for that.

If we pretend this “trying to remember a dream” idea is canon, when Sans first woke up, he felt all the emotions full force but couldnt remember a thing. Certain things would trigger memories but theyd leave as soon as they came.

Wingdings being just a spool of thread thats unraveling can also be taken 2 different ways. His memory is unraveling from Sans’ mind, but even when he was still alive I imagine he was losing it, and unraveling while Sans was helpless but to watch as his brother went insane, (metaphorically) in his arms

but thats JUST A THEORY-

I also enjoyed making the thread still really long even if it does end at some point- like Wingdings still had so much life to live but no he had to see the angels or whatever the fuck his plan was
