2 Adventure AU (cont.

REFURBISHING AND polishing my 2 adventures AU

If you don’t want to read my last post, (which is fair bc it was mostly rambling), the gist of it is that the LU crew goes on two adventures. The first one occurs while most of the chain is quite young and then years after that adventure ends they all come back together again grown. This applies to everybody BUT Warriors.

For the first adventure most the heroes are really young. Time has just finished the events of Majora’s Mask. Wind has just finished Wind Waker. Four, he’s not even Four yet, just went thru Minish Cap. These three are all around age 11-12.

Hyrule is 13, having been living by himself for a year now after completing the events of Zelda 1. Legend is 16 and has only been home for few months after the events of Link’s Awakening.

Sky and Twilight are both 17, having just finished their respective journeys.

WILD, I owe this completely to the suggestion of @durudurururu, is 16 and has recently been knighted and is starting his fight against the calamity. He has not been through the events of BotW yet.

And Warriors. . . Warriors is a 23 year old, recently appointed captain, who is in the early stages of the war of eras. He has so far not met Mask or Tune yet in his war.

I think the funniest way this would go is that Wars along with Sky, Twilight, Wild, and Legend are pulled together in quick succession and are told somehow by the goddess that there’s a great threat that requires many of her heroes to vanquish.

Wars thinks this will be fine. He isn’t shocked that this is happening, his own era is going through something similar, and working with some teens isn’t bad. He’s already used to leading young knights back home.

Shit hits the fan immediately 😭

Warriors tries to take charge, assuming a leadership position quickly. Sky and Wild are quick to follow him, already quite used to following captains back home, but Legend and Twilight…

Legend, freshly traumatized, has decided that he already hates Warriors and does his best to refute everything he says and generally makes things 100 times more difficult. Legend often tries to do his own thing which pisses of Wars to no end. Wild and Legend develop SEVERE beef right away after Legend’s declaration that “knights ain’t shit.” Sky tried to play mediator until Legend declares that “Hylia is a stank-ass ho” as to which Sky is like: >:(

Wars hopes that Twilight will be reasonable. He tries to tell Twilight to do something he doesn’t want to do one day and his response is to spit in the ground, “not the city slicker telling me what to do.” And struts away.

Wars prays, PRAYS., for the day this adventure is over. His teenage comrades get into more fights with each other than they do with the black blooded monsters they should be. Their hygiene is almost dangerously bad. They REEK. Wars prays for the day he doesn’t get awoken by a petty argument. Three times this week dinner has been interrupted by a PHYSICAL altercation between from two to ALL of the boys.

When Sky says the goddess told him more heroes will be joining them, Wars prays that they will be older and wiser. When he’s met with a gang of child soldiers he decides that Hylia must be dead and gone because this has to be the work of demise.

Two of them are non verbal. The masked one makes some attempt to sign, but the young, skittish teenager makes absolutely 0 effort to even try or even indicate that he’s listening to Wars. Wars is convinced that both of are feral. Were they raised in the woods?? In a cave?

One is a self proclaimed pirate. Wars is ashamed in the others that the person who tries hardest to actually listen to him is the 12 year old actual criminal who starts struggling with alcohol withdrawal a week into the journey.

Baby Four is basically the version of himself at the beginning of the 4 sword manga. A huge ego as he’s a budding knight. He listens to Wars less than Legend does.

Miraculously they manage to survive, not even the journey but each other. Things got a little easier.

Legend takes responsibility for Hyrule after the chain discovers he’s not in fact non-verbal BUT Hylian is not his native language. He speaks Calatian and Legend the resident polyglot takes to teaching him Hylian.

Wars is shocked when Wild and Twilight become buddies. He has no clue when that happened. Wild is unsettlingly quiet and too well behaved at the best of times while Wars has to bribe Twilight to bathe sometimes.

Four looks up to Sky after he learns that he’s a god slayer and starts listening to him in proxy of Wars.

Wars finds himself with two shadows, Time and Wind.

Their mission comes to a close and Wars finds that he’s dearly going to miss all of his little brothers despite the stress they put him through. He’s prematurely greying now.

He returns to his own war, reunited with Time and Wind, each a smidge older. After two more years, the war is over and Wars once more says goodbye. The day after the war is declared over, Wars is pulled back by the goddess into a journey across time once again. Apparently there’s some unfinished business from last time.

Wars is SO stressed. He’s not at all ready to go back to being the single father/Fiona Gallagher to 8 traumatized children again. He barely, BARELY, survived last time.

Somehow what he finds is much worse 😭

All of Wars’ journey including the one he went on with the chain, occurred over 3 years for him. He’s now 25. So why… WHY is everyone else so much older????

Baby Mask and the Minish hero are so much older. Time must be pushing 40 and Four is easily 5 years older than Wars.

Twilight, Sky, and Legend are all in their mid to late 20s. Twilight is courting a nice young woman, Legend is engaged, and Sky is MARRIED. With kids.

Wild, what happened to that guy???, is nothing like the quiet, unsettling, lad he was before. He’s in his early 20s and well. More Wild than ever. He also doesn’t remember or barely recalls anybody.

Hyrule, shy, skittish, feral, Hyrule is also now in his early 20s and is almost outgoing. He speaks clearly and magic unlike anything Wars has ever felt before seems to come from his very being.

Wind is finally of legal drinking age and is shockingly similar to before except now he claims to be able to see dead people.

The first thing everyone does is treat Warriors to a drink while he processes.

American Chain Headcanon 😮‍💨

this is stupid 😭

I was laying down, having myself a maladaptive daydream session, and couldn’t get this out of my head

here’s which state I think each member of the chain would be from if they were American

Wind is from Hawai’i and you cannot take that from me. If I were being biased I would say he’s from Oahu, but I could also see him being from Kauai. I just really see him as a town rat though growing up in Honolulu. I just think he’d love screwing around with tourists and sneaking into resort swimming pools

I think Hyrule would be from Alaska. Something to do with the sheer amount of wildlife and surprising rate of violent deaths that occur there resonate. In all realness tho, I think he would grow up on a frontier or homestead of some type. Maybe he would be a reservation kid

Warriors would be from Virginia. I believe he would grow up surrounded by military communities. I think he’d grow up as an Army brat (he’d probably move a lot but Virginia is home base to him). He’d get into West Point and follow his family’s footsteps in the military.

Wild would be from Florida. I don’t really feel like I need to explain this one. He’d go barefoot into the Everglades and mess around with wildlife. He’d love petty crime.

Legend is a NYC kid but he’s spent every summer of his life visiting family in Boston. He grew up in Queens and has a thick NYC accent. When he comes home from the summer he has a Bostonian accent 😭 he knows the subway like second nature, how to barter, and the best food joints.

Sky is midwestern I think he’d grow in Minnesota. He’s also got a strong accent. Very well adjusted to the cold. His idea of a salad is probably not your idea of a salad 😬

I think Twilight would be Texan but I’ve seen strong arguments for him being Appalachian and honestly I can’t decide. No… I think he’d grow up in Appalachia. Ugh or maybe he’d grow up in Montana on a ranch there. I can’t decide. Pls help

I think Time would be Californian but he brings it up never 😭 one day somebody asks him where he grew up and he’s just like: Sacramento. The only reason I thought that is bc Sacramento is the city of trees… Time gave me lots of trouble. Another possibility is that he just answers with a different city each time he’s asked. Maybe he’s from Cincinatti 😭 Ohio

Four is so weird. He’s Canadian (ily Canadians). I think he’d be from Montreal but has zero accent. He’s fluent in French.

pls feel free to argue with me or offer your own thoughts

team medic headcanon

I’ve seen some back and forth over whether Warriors or Hyrule would be the group medic/healer and while I understand the arguments on each side, realistically I think all the links would be medically adept, but that’s not what I’m here to talk about

I think a funnier take would be that both Hyrule and Wars are both good healers, but Hyrule is good in the medieval witch kind of way with poultices, magic, and natural remedies while Wars is good in the American Civil War way

And this is funnier with the assumption that the others in the chain come from more medically advanced eras but never retained medical knowledge or skill

example: Wild gets a really bad infected bite and goes to Hyrule who starts rubbing dirt into it so he switches and tries to go to Wars who immediately is like: 😬 we might have to amputate. And he’s dead serious. Poor Wild is like: “I’m not a doctor but i know this can’t be right 😭”

okay I apologize to any Christians, I hope this isn’t offensive but I can’t stop thinking about it 😭

so you know how Christianity is semi-canon in the downfall timeline? Yeah- how would that work???

Christianity exists on Earth because of a long and complicated collision of history and pagan stories and then the death and resurrection of Jesus, a Jewish middle eastern man who was trying to defend his people against Roman oppressors. i know reasonably that Nintendo might’ve not expected that the Zelda series would take off so much so they probably put in some Christian iconology bc the Catholic aesthetic is kind of popular in Japan. It shows up a lot in anime too.

but now there’s a canon religion the series follows with a couple of goddess 😭

my only reasoning is that the Hyrule Christians believe that God is all powerful and that maybe Hylia, Din, Farore, Nayru are either angels or saints? More Catholic I guess

and maybe the hero of Time would be a Jesus figure?? His birth COULD be immaculate, we don’t know his parents. maybe Christianity comes from Calatia? Hylia I think only focuses on Hyrule??

in the Linked Universe I don’t personally head canon Hyrule or Legend to be catholic BUT. I think it would be really funny if they were

Legend calling Hylia a false prophet 😭

Hyrule holding up his cross like: “I prayed to God and now I can see moas”

If Time is downfall Jesus I think they would both probably have a spiritual crisis depending on how devout they both are 😭

also Legend just REALLY gives me Catholic guilt vibes.

When I was a kid my grandmother would have me recite the “Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep” prayer which terrified me as a kid 😮‍💨 I feel like Hyrule would recite it every night and it would kind of just unsettle the chain.

PLEASE. Please tell me if anybody has thought the same or has thoughts on how it would work. This has been plaguing my mind

I’m sorry Christians

I enjoyed reading your LU Soul Eater AU, and I have one question. (Well many but I’ll limit to one.) Who sends all the Links on their joint adventure? Hylia or someone else? Is there an ultimate power sending them (like Death) or just their kingdoms joining together and sending agents from each kingdom to fight the big bad?

omg pls ask as many as you’d like I live for questions and discussions bout my aus I’m so serious

I didn’t explain it well (or possibly not at all) but Hyrule is basically a huge empire (probably around the size of Russia???) that consists of several different houses/kingdoms that all rule underneath the Empress. (The empress is Sun who has very recently been placed into that role)

Before the chain properly forms, each link kind of goes on their individual journeys for different purposes. Some of them were born into a lifestyle where their families expected them to defend their kingdoms such as Sky, Legend, Warriors, Wild, and kind of Four. Time, Twilight, Hyrule, and Wind were much more reactionary/self defense kind of things. Time is a bit complicated.

I think I got a bit away from the question 😭 the driving force that’s causing so many issues is the near revival of Ganon, who I think would be a witch with near godlike powers. For the past century his followers have been trying to resurrect him causing an insurgence in issues across the Hyrule Empire.

2 Adventures AU

I think it would be kind of interesting if the chain went on two adventures. What I mean by that is the first one would occur while most of the chain have only been through one or a few of their games. This could also be seen as a childhood friends au? The chain is pulled together when most of them are pretty young.

Time has just finished Majora’s Mask and is in full young teen angst, trauma, mode. He’s extremely mischievous and poorly adjusted. He’s only around 12 or 13 years old.

Wind has just been through the events of Wind Waker. He’s only 12 and is pretty shaken up but still pretty similar I’d say. Maybe even more hyper and desperate to prove himself.

Hyrule has just been through the events of Zelda 1. He’s quiet and jumpy. Dawn has gently been spending the past two years trying to help him adjust to a more social life but it’s been slow going. He’s extremely anxious to be around so many people. I’d say he’s around 14.

Four has only been through the events of Minish Cap so he’s not even Four yet. His age is canonically the most confusing to me but I really like the headcanons that he’s a young adult who has a baby face. In this he’d be a kid though, so maybe around 11?

Legend I can’t decide whether he’d have only been through A Link to the Past and the oracle games or if he’s been through Links Awakening by this point. I think it would be more interesting if he had just been through Link’s Awakening and is severely jaded. He’s 16. (If he had only been thru the oracle games he’d be 14 and a lot more light hearted)

Wild would have gone through the events of Botw being 17. He’d honestly just be pretty baseline with no crazy changes.

Twilight would have also just gone through Twilight Princess being 18. I think he’d be really hung up on Midna.

Sky has also just completed Skyward Sword, I think he’d also be 18? Pretty similar to canon.

Warriors was plucked halfway through his game and thrust into this adventure. He’s very stressed, worried he left his people behind when they needed him most. He becomes the group leader being the eldest at 20.

They come together, pretty much a platoon of child soldiers, defeat the evil, say teary goodbyes, and return home.

Years later they’re all shocked to be pulled into a second journey across time and get to reunite with their brothers.

This time Time is his canon Lu age of being somewhere around his early to mid thirties being much more cool and collected than the actual child nightmare he was initially. He falls easily into a leadership role. He seems to have mended many of his mental wounds despite him being prone to grumpiness. This adventure after so many years of peace is pretty triggering though.

Wind has gone through phantom hour glass and is freshly 15. He’s a little more mature now but very much so the same kid except now he’s like: “I see dead people”

Hyrule is a lot better socialized this time. He’s almost easy going and has a mischievous streak that the chain welcomes. It’s a fine change from the scared scrawny kid he was years ago. He still is exceedingly sweet and has a plethora of new talents to share. He also has crippling paranoid and a blood phobia. He’s around 18.

Four, despite being the youngest the first mission, is now a young man being in his early twenties. He doesn’t talk much about his last adventure but he’s noticeably scatterbrained. Despite that, he can think outside the box like nobody else. It’s like he can think with the power of four people! He also goes by the name four now.

Legend who has completed two more quests now is incredibly frustrated to have been yanked out of retirement/his wedding planning. Legend was able to manage a lot of healing over his last two journeys. He got engaged to the one and only Ravio who he was supposed to be working on wedding invitations with. He’s lighter now but still a grouch at times. He’s in his earlier twenties.

Wild has completed his mission from TotK and somehow his iPad can do EVEN MORE now. If lobbing bombs wasn’t enough last time, now he can crawl through walls. He is noticeably shaken in a way he wasn’t last time and has almost an unwilling clarity of the world around him. He’s 21 now.

I so sorry but I don’t think Twilight would be much different. If anyone has thoughts pls lmk. He’s been able to move on from Midna and has thrown himself into shepherd work. I think he’d be courting Ilia and would be living a good country life while getting to brag about having tea with the princess. He’s fairly okay with being on another mission.

Okay this is totally just a headcanon but I picture Sky as that guy you knew in highschool who gets married really young and starts a family right after school. Sky is stressed after getting sent on another because he’s in the middle of building a kingdom and his wife, Sun, is pregnant.

Poor Warriors. As mentioned the first journey happened for him when he was halfway through his war. Unlike many of the others, when he returned to his f ‘n c z timeline it was like no time had passed at all. For the second half of his war he met many new people and old friends. Mask (time) joined him, an older, almost grown version of Wind as his best friend and second in command, Ravio, Midna. When the war ends he’s saddened to say goodbye to dear friends once again. Warriors is whisked away to his second journey with the chain the moment his war ends. For him, it’s only been a year or less in some circumstances that he’s seen the chain. For most of them to had aged so much is jarring to him. The last time he saw them all it was him and a mostly non verbal group of children. Now it’s a group of almost all adults bar Wind, who was Warriors’ age last time he saw him. Most shocking of all is to see his baby brother all grown up and older than him.

I haven’t put much further thought into the AU but I thought the dynamic of splitting the chain up by the amount of adventures they completed would be interesting. Most of the chain also had started their journeys as children so I thought it would be a fun dynamic for them to have all met younger. Poor Warriors though, leading 6 mentally ill teenagers and children was a huge task. And now they’re all either older than him or roughly the same age. I imagine they hit the pubs hard 😭

LU Soul Eater AU: Legend

Thank you to everyone who Voted! Poor Legend 😭 his story starts with his birth (and some world building)

In this AU, Hyrule is a LARGE empire around the size of North America. In it are several ruling families that serve the Empress. Legend’s father is the second most high ranking royal, the king of western Hyrule. He rules over the largest part of land that doesn’t belong to the Empress.

I don’t think the king in ALTTP has a canon name so in this I’ll call him King West for simplicity.

King West and his wife, Queen West, have Fable. Unfortunately for Queen West, she struggles a lot with postpartum depression and spends some time recovering. This time is incredibly stressful for King West, who finds himself as the soul leader of western Hyrule, so he decides to blow off some steam and has an affair with a maid.

Obviously this is Legend’s mother. She gives birth to him 10 months after Fable was born, (they’re Irish twins!), and passes away due to complications during it.

At this point a lot of the palace staff are really pissed off that this happened. Being left with the King’s bastard, they decide to bring Legend to the ENTIRE castle’s attention. This news reaches the king just a little after it reaches the Queen.

She’s FURIOUS. He had a stressful year??? She thought she was going to DIE.

Advisors suggest surrendering the boy to an orphanage where he can grow up anonymously, but the gossip of the king’s bastard son has already traveled far enough that the other kingdoms of Hyrule know it. They cannot renounce royal blood. Hylia flows through the child’s veins.

The Queen demands that the child will not be raised in her castle. She cannot bear to watch the king’s “mistake” wander her halls. The king decides to send the child to be raised by his brother, Legend’s uncle, who is a small lord at the kingdom’s border.

The king and Queen cannot divorce, but the Queen ends up spending most of her time traveling the empire on diplomatic missions. Fable is mostly raised by her father.

(Years later the Queen regrets her decision in casting Legend out. Legend does not. He’s actually grateful to have been raised away from court.)

Despite the amount of mess surrounding his birth, Legend is raised to be a very happy boy under his uncle’s care. He grows up in a small fort surrounded by apple trees and friends. His uncle never wed nor had children, so he gets all the attention he needs. He rides horses, learns some magic, and how to farm over the years.

Right before his 12th birthday, a witch called Agahnim sends western Hyrule into chaos. Legend’s Uncle is summoned to the castle to provide extra defense. Despite warning Legend to stay home, he sneaks after him.

His uncle is too late, the castle is already taken over. Legend finds his uncle bleeding out. His uncle tells him that he needs to find his sister and get to safety before he dies in Legend’s arms.

Now he’s all alone. He finds Fable terrified and together they escape. Together they decide that they must take down Agahnim before he claims the rest of their kingdom.

Fable can turn into a sword (I’m still trying to think of what type but a rapier is really burning into my brain). Wielding his sister, they go through a long and hard journey, eventually killing Agahnim and restoring “peace and balance” to their kingdom.

And Legend feels AWFUL. His father joyfully has him stay back at the kingdom. He’s a hero now. The Queen wouldn’t keep a hero from living in the castle, would she?

He hates it. He starts taking etiquette classes and begins to learn how to be a proper prince. To make matters worse, Fable doesn’t even stay in Western Hyrule for most of the time. She’s usually in the northwest studying with her meister, Princess Dot.

He’s lonely and scared. When Agahnim attacked, he sent a curse over the land to cause all the knights to hunt him down. Now as he walks the castle halls he has to look at the people who wanted to hurt him only a few months ago. He also can’t stop having nightmares about his uncle. He misses him terribly.

Thankfully, this degree of hurt and loneliness doesn’t last too long. He keeps catching glimpses of a short kid who doesn’t look like he’s from here darting about the castle. One day they run into each other and he finally meets Hyrule.

Hyrule and Legend click instantly. Upon finding out that Hyrule is a weapon, specifically a magic weapon, they both become greatly excited to practice spells together. Legend and Hyrule both are very happy about this because neither of them have been able to practice their magic since moving into the castle. Eventually they get caught and this is a great concern. Hyrule is a lot of things: Sweet, cunning, powerful, Legend’s new best friend, and the son of the witch that corrupted all of southern Hyrule/political prisoner.

King West tries to tell Legend that he and Hyrule can no longer see each other. That Hyrule is potentially- No is. Very dangerous. Legend throws his first tantrum. Queen West who is back for diplomatic affairs has been eaten away by her guilt of casting the young prince away for years. She gives Legend permission to become Hyrule’s full time meister.

King West does not want to deal with this so he sends the two away to a boarding school that will properly train them.

When Legend turns 16, he’s sent by his father on a solo quest to Labrynna and Holodrum which are part of the neighboring empire to Hyrule. There he does good deeds, the oracle games, in order to maintain good relations between them and Hyrule. On the way back he gets into an awful boat wreck, Link’s Awakening, barely making it home.

Freshly traumatized, all he wants to see is his best friend. Unfortunately, while he was gone, Hyrule was sent back to southern Hyrule where he completed his own quest, Adventure of Link basically.

Despite completing his quest, Hyrule hasn’t returned, having gone missing, so Legend sets out to look for him.

Southern Hyrule is a combination of Hyrule’s games and Lorule. I’ll get more into when I retcon and write Hyrule’s part.

Legend meets Ravio and strengthens ties between Southern Hyrule and Western Hyrule. Southern Hyrule has been oppressed by the rest of the empire for a long time. After it was taken over and cursed by a witch, Rule’s mom, 70ish years ago, it’s basically been under martial law/abandoned by the rest of the empire. It has multiple rulers and it is fraying apart. With Fable, Legend is able to secure future ties between the two kingdoms.

Finally he finds Hyrule, also freshly traumatized by his mission, and takes him home, not to the castle, but to his uncle's old fort which he finds under possession of Ravio.

A few years of growing pass before they’re asked to join a new mission.

And that’s Legend! I’m sorry if the world building is choppy, I’m still working on it! Please please please lmk what you all think! Lmk who you’d like to see next and any thoughts or headcanons you have!!

LU Soul Eater AU: Four

I must admit, Four has a really edgy 2014 lab AU that I spent too much time thinking about. I did have fun though so here’s his backstory and a trigger warning for unethical human experimentation. I don’t think it’s anything more graphic than what would be in Soul Eater.

A small disclaimer: I’m going mostly off of what I remember from the manga for any sense of canon, I haven’t had the privilege of playing the game yet. 😔

I think I mentioned before, but each of Four’s colors are a different type of knife. Together they’re able form the four sword.

Green is a machete.

I decided on that for him because I think that machetes look really dangerous, showing up in a lot of horror media, and can cause a lot of harm, but that is not what they are meant for. Machetes are meant for clearing bush and foliage away to clear paths through forest or jungle. They can be used to obtain resources. A trailblazer or leader might use this knife. Green grew up with his father who was a captain in the royal guard. Green was being groomed as a weapon for the Princess Dot. Upon manifesting as a machete, a lot of people, especially Green’s own father, were disappointed and believed him to be a poor weapon for a princess looking crude and brutal. Together, Dot and Green proved the masses wrong, with them both proving themselves as leaders before fighters.

Vio is a throwing knife.

Vio is a child runaway. I can’t figure out what would be a good reason for him to run or what his family would be like, but I imagine he learned a dangerous secret. I also like to think that despite Vio being very smart, he can be unreasonable and is able to rationalize himself into making bad choices. He’s a throwing knife because it takes a lot of learning and skill to be able to wield a weapon such as that. It also takes something crazy to throw your weapon away from you and be able to rely on it to return. Vio can be recalled by his meister, but it has to be of his own accord. He can also control his flight to some degree. Up until the events I’ll describe in a minute, he had never been wielded before.

Blue is a trench knife.

In the background of the events during my story, there’s a war raging in the background that’s much more prevalent in Warrior’s story. This has caused a lot of children to be orphaned, Blue included. He grows up in a poorly funded orphanage and gets into a lot of fights growing up. I chose a trench knife for Blue because it is a very brutal weapon, something which I think he can be. It’s also a weapon that when you use, you know that you are aiming to really hurt your opponent and that you have to get really close to do so. There are also two main ways to use a trench knife, the blade, ofc, and the brass knuckles which I think kind of show how Blue thinks outside the box, especially in combat. It’s also a weapon that’s mean to be used when your back is against the wall.

Red is a Switchblade.

Red also grew up in an orphanage also due to the war. He and Blue grew up in the same place but weren’t close with each other. He definitely grew up more of a lover having a high level of empathy. Despite being picked on, maybe bullied a bit, Red is the type of person who never wants to hurt somebody else even in self defense. I chose the switchblade for Red because it kind of conceals its nature most of the time hiding in a sheath. A switchblade is a weapon that has to be used in close quarters, but unlike Blue’s trench knife, the opponent might not even recognize it as a weapon until it’s too late. Switchblades are spring loaded and fast, but by pressing a button, the user has a lot of choice before they use it. I think Red would be able to stop himself from being triggered in his weapon form if he tried hard enough.

All of the four were born in the same year, all being roughly the same age. (Yay this means I can choose their zodiacs!) When they were all 11, each of them were kidnapped in the same winter by a witch called Vaati. Vio was first, being a homeless child he was hungry enough to be lured in by the prospect of working for food and board. This later would be something he feels ashamed of thinking himself more clever than that. Next would be Red who thought he was helping an elderly woman carry her groceries home… into a dark alleyway. Blue would be next, probably just being classically kidnapped after he poked around somewhere shady. Green would be the last, going on a personal mission to investigate the rapid disappearance of kids from the city he lived in.

Vaati is a witch who is trying to make weaker weapons stronger in order to arm the army of the ancient evil (ganon) that he and many other witches are trying to revive.  For his first experiment, he wants to fuse several small/young weapons into one big stronger one. He chose the four because they’re young enough to be malleable but old enough to actually be able to turn into their weapons. They also conveniently have a lot in common, age, gender, and weapon type which Vaati thinks will make it easier to fuse them.

Vaati begins a series of experiments that don’t really seem to make sense to the four. He’ll force them all to work together to complete puzzles only to rip them apart for the next few. Vio, who’s been there the longest, plays along well knowing what to expect. Green, who’s been training already for a long time, doesn't struggle too much with physical or mental challenges. Red and Blue however struggle a lot causing Vaati to use crueler and crueler experiments to get them to obey.

Vaati’s struggle with Red and Blue resides in that Blue fights back the most and is actually quite brawny for a tween and Red won’t fight at all refusing to take his weapon form and even if he does, he won’t unsheath. Blue is something Vaati must subdue and break in. Red is something to trigger. He routinely exposes them to extreme temperatures, Blue the cold and Red the heat, and subjects them to frightening simulations. (I’m basing this off the manga with blue being frozen, red in the burning village, the giant poe)

Most confusingly, he makes the four wield each other which is not natural/impossible for weapons to do. Vaati achieves this with the help of magic.

Vaati works using his own son Shadow as an assistant. Shadow is a similar age as the boys and enjoys the power he gets to lord over them. Secretly, he’s really happy to have so many other kids around. That being said. He hasn’t been properly socialized so his idea of trying to play with them is just by mildly tormenting them.

Vio is the first to start befriending Shadow. Like in the manga, he does this with the intention of later betraying him, planning on using him as means to escape. He unexpectedly begins to genuinely like Shadow and starts to experience extreme guilt in thinking about what he’s going to do. Nevertheless, Vio begins to start faking Stockholm syndrome. This is really confusing for the rest of the boys. Blue thinks that Vio is bad person and is actually siding with Vaati. This leads to a fight between them that results in Vio being separated from the rest of the boys. (I didn’t mention it but they’re usually locked in the same room between experiments.) Red believes that Vio actually has Stockholm syndrome and feels really bad for him. Green can see through Vios' plan but just thinks that it’s a really bad idea. He doesn’t say anything though because he doesn’t want to ruin it for him just in case it does work.

Red is the next to befriend Shadow, though it’s unintentional. Despite everything, Red does his best to remain kind, maybe not so much to Vaati, but to Shadow, sure. Red thinks that Shadow is just a brainwashed kid, which he’s kind of right about. Shadow starts to like Red because he’ll go along with any game he wants to play.

Green falls after Red gets more chill with Shadow. The games they play look fun and Green really didn’t have a lot of chances to play growing up. He starts to take a page from Vio’s book, trying to pry information where he can from Shadow. Somehow he feels less bad about this than Vio does.

Blue thinks everyone is going crazy in here so he takes to verbally bullying Shadow whenever he swings by. Shadow, being a weirdo, thinks that it’s a form of banter so he just bullies Blue back. Unexpectedly, and to his own horror, Blue finds it really fun to be able to have a witty back and forth with somebody who can match his level.

Shadow for the first month or two is really his dad kidnapped people his age. It’s so FUN having people to play with! He even has a best friend now in Vio. He doesn’t really think about the implications of his dad hurting his new friends, and his role in that, until they start acting different.

Vio starts having panic attacks (out of nowhere!/s) and can take hours or even days to calm down rendering him unable to even speak. This is the first thing that rattles Shadow. It’s the first time he felt hurt seeing somebody else hurt. His attempts to calm Vio down begin selfishly, wanting him to stop acting weird and to start acting like his best friend again. Eventually it turns into genuine and raw concern. Shadow, for the first time, feels bad because somebody else does. He starts just really wanting Vio to be okay.

His other playmates start breaking down too. Red is too exhausted now to play. He sleeps most of the day away and when he’s awake he’s too shaky and weak to do anything. Blue becomes dissonant, stuck staring at walls. He won’t respond to even the strongest of Shadow’s remarks. Green is caught between caring for the other two. He becomes too busy to try and pry information out of Shadow.

Then a day comes where Vaati gathers each boy and throws them into the middle of a collection of runes drawn on the ground with a combination of their blood. A flash and they’re all rendered into their weapon states, unwillingly. After a few moments there’s another flash and only a single weapon remains. The Four Sword. When the weapon takes its human form back, only one terrified boy stands sharing features of the four that formed it.

Despite Vaati’s satisfaction, Shadow feels that something REALLY wrong just happened, and it did. He later visits “Four. Four is shell shocked, barely able to walk, confused, and really, REALLY scared. He looks at Shadow and begs him to let him out. Shadow obliges.

Picking up the newly formed Four sword, Shadow vanquishes his own father and runs with his new friend Four. Shadow was greatly wounded in the fight, his father cursing him to never stand in sunlight. Four is traumatized and so confused. He decides to go to Green’s father, now technically Four’s father, unsure of where else to go.

The two boys tell the story to Four’s dad and a proper raid is unleashed on Vaati’s lab, leaving out the parts where Shadow was Vaati’s accomplice for most of the time. No body is found. Four’s father tries to defuse him, which just terrifies him. Shadow gets some medical treatment but most people don’t want to treat him, as he was Vaati’s son.

Four’s father, unsure what to do with two traumatized children, dumps them on his father, Four’s grandfather who lives out of town as a blacksmith. There they all heal and after a few years learn to defuse. They’ve all spent so much time together though that they can’t bare to part. They are literally part of each other now. Green’s father decides to give them all knight training and Shadow learns how to wield each of them and Four properly. They all know how to wield each other too but this is uncanny for a lot of people. Weapons wielding weapons…

Shadow goes missing at the end of a dangerous mission. All too soon, Four is called to accompany 8 others on a holy quest. He sets out determined to save the world and his best friend.

And that’s Four 😭 goodness that ended up a lot longer than I expected.

Please, and I’m begging 🙏🙏🙏, let me know what you think, your own headcanons, critiques, questions, ANYTHING. And who you’d like to see next!

Thank you 💕

Soul Eater AU: Legend and Hyrule

Soul Eater AU: Legend And Hyrule

I would like to ask that everybody please ignore my poor drawing skills 😭 I’m very rusty right now so these are basically caveman drawings of what I’m trying to convey.

As aforementioned Hyrule is the weapon out of the duo and he’s a magic rod inspired greatly by the one he used in Zelda 1. He’s about 4 feet tall in that form and can perform a couple of spells from Zelda 2: Jump, Shield, Reflect, Thunder, and Life. I think they could perform other spells or even rituals.

Soul Eater AU: Legend And Hyrule

Hyrule has a lot of magic potential while Legend only has a bit but it works well with Legend only needing a little bit to cast while Hyrule basically pushes the spell out in a much bigger form. If they complete bigger spells there runs the risk of both of them exhausting themselves.

They discovered in a bad fight that in a pinch, Hyrule can be used as a melee weapon as he has some weight 😭 They use this sparingly because it sets Legend up to be more likely hurt and Hyrule really isn’t meant to be used that way.

Hyrule is the son of a very infamous witch that was slain when he was very young. We’ll say maybe 5 years old? The royal family “took him in” as means to watch him closely and keep him away from the public. He wasn’t horribly bullied but was largely ignored or feared growing up. He was allowed to study very little magic in fear that he would develop into a witch. He had a very lonely childhood :(

Legend is the spare prince of Hyrule (the country) and was sent to live with his uncle to learn magic and combat. His father also wasn’t too sure what to do with an extra child. He grew up happy and out of the public eye until he was 12 when an assassin tried to end him. His uncle intervened and died protecting him.

He was sent back to the castle to live, and there he met Hyrule, another lonely child. They became fast friends and realized that they were compatible as weapon and meister. Legend’s father sent them to school, idk if it would be death academy, where they became top of their class despite having a very shaky reputation built around the narrative of being the spare prince and son of a witch.

At 16, Rule, and 17, Legend, they’re selected to go on a holy quest with 7 other people to stop an ancient evil from resurrection.

And that’s their story!!

This has also somewhat become my emo/goth dress up game AS well as which demonias I think each would wear 😽 I forgot that in Soul Eater all of the characters wear big goth/emo shoes. I gave Hyrule the Boxer-13s and Legend… he gets bestowed the classic Swing-815s.

I’d love to hear anybody’s thoughts, I love talking about this, whether it’s personal headcanons or fashion

I think this is my first Linked Universe post ever so I hope this isn’t messy!

LU Soul Eater AU: this is how I think it would with pairings and the mild plot I’ve cobbled together!

The chain are people who were selected to stop the reawakening of an ancient evil, it’s just this AU equivalent of Ganon.

Hyrule and Legend would be a pair with Hyrule being the weapon and Legend the meister. Hyrule would be a magic rod capable of the spells that he knows from Zelda 2 and somewhat combined with the offensive abilities from his first game. Legend is very good at knowing what to push through and they’re very in sync with each other.

Four kind of goes against Soul Eater canon and his actual canon but in a way that I hope makes sense. He is a weapon, the four sword which in this AU is like a Scottish claymore sword, that’s made of the four colors after they essentially fuse together to create the weapon. Each color is also a weapon, all of them being different types of knives. Green a machete, Blue a trench knife specifically with the brass knuckle handle, Vio is a throwing knife, and Red a concealable switchblade. Shadow is their meister.

Sky and Time are the next pairing with Sky being the weapon and Time the meister. Sky would be the equivalent of the master sword, an ancient weapon passed down by bloodline. For Sky and Time however, Sky had been a meister until recent events and Time was a weapon in his past.

Wind and Warriors are a pair with Wind as the weapon and Warriors the meister. Wind would be a flintlock pistol. Warriors never stayed the meister of a weapon for longer than a year until he and Wind met.

Finally, Twilight and Wild, Twilight the meister and Wild the weapon. I think Wild would be the bombs from his first game, or maybe another type of sheika tech. I had the most trouble figuring out this pair.

I have much more backstory for everybody but I was worried it would get too long. If you want to hear them though I’d be thrilled to talk about them! I’d also like to hear other headcanons if anyone has them! Especially when it comes to Wild and Twilight 😭 I have part of their backstories but for how they’d function, I’m coming up blank.
