โ˜… Aatamixx, the Echoflower System's Introduction ๐Ÿ’ซ๐Ÿชป

Hello, welcome to my blog, I'm Aatami (AKA Mishka or Snep)! Well, that's just collectively speaking. If you're talking about the whole system, you can call me (us) the Echoflower System. My collective pronouns are he/him, but kit/kitself, nya/nyaself, and star/starself are all good too. I'm pretty new to Tumblr (well I had a blog in like 2020, but I've forgotten basically everything about itโ€ฆ also I use parentheses way too much, gosh), but I plan to use this blog as a sort of archive for all the xenogenders I've coined, as well as getting into the MOGAI and plural communities on here. I hope I can find my people on this website. /lh

(This post will be periodically edited as things about myself change, of course.)

โ˜… So Now That I Know This Aatami, Where Can I Find Him? โ˜…

In case you had it in you for even more rambling, you can check out my about me literature on Toyhouse (I use it like a Carrd). More things are already linked there, so I don't need to re-add them all here. I also use the account that it's posted under for posting the occasional bulletin (and storing my original characters, but those are all private and will remain as such for the foreseeable future).

โ˜… Small Facts About the System โ˜…

(Switching to using plural language for this was a little jarring lawl, I'm very much used to referring to myself singularly.)

โ˜… We have OSDD-1B (recognized by our psychologist, but unable to be officially diagnosed due to not being disordered โ€” we've achieved functional multiplicity, surprisingly enough) and are of mixed traumagenic origins

โ˜… We are an aceplex

โ˜… We're a theriosystem

โ˜… We are very male- / masculine-heavy, due to our gender dysphoria affecting everyone

โ˜… Because we're so male-heavy, we default to using he/him instead of they/them when referring to an unspecified alter or one whose gender identity is unknown

โ˜… We're also somewhat angel-heavy

โ˜… Due to our maladaptive daydreaming, our system has countless paracosms (the most active ones of which being the worlds our original stories are set in, as well as our fandoms, especially ones we're hyperfixating on)

โ˜… Our headspace is exclusively set in our daydreams, and is not something that's just there in the background โ€” it has to be consciously visualized and visited (or well, accidentally while zoning out)

โ˜… We are a dreamway system of sorts, but I should mention that we don't experience walk-ins and pretty much none of our alters are paragenic

โ˜… Our alters almost never interact in the headspace, but they can use things like the Simply Plural chat and get a conversation going if need be

โ˜… Aatamixx, The Echoflower System's Introduction ๐Ÿ’ซ๐Ÿชป

โ˜… Alter Signoff Chart โ˜…

(I originally planned to list their roles here too, but I ended up deciding against it, since I'm unsure of what some of their purposes are and uncomfortable with sharing a few others.)

Alter Fun Fact #1

Alter Fun Fact #1

Lyrics from "Everybody Likes You" by Lemon Demon

Darnell wears rose tinted glasses!

We think he might have NPD, but it's very strange because no one else in our system acts anything like that. He's also very stereotypical and exaggerated so at first I was hesitant to say he did... but now I'm starting to think that's mainly because he has no social skills whatsoever and has barely talked to anyone outside of our system. If that is the case, it's really interesting how disorders can present differently in systems!

Either way, the tinted glasses represent the unrealistic "lens" through which he sees the world. He automatically assumes he's very important and likeable to everyone, and entitled to their attention. He doesn't seem to understand why this isn't the case and gets frustrated when things don't work out the way he wants them to.

We're starting to understand why he acts like this though and hopefully with some patience we'll work it out ^^

Do any other systems just... like... look through stuff they made/said before they knew they were a system and cringe so hard?

Like. Personally, we made up an entire alternative explanation for what we were to avoid being associated with alters... but uh, funny story, here we are now :]

i think that's where all the hate on endos comes from. ยซthey claim to be suffering like we doยป and shit... but being plural doesn't mean to suffer. it means having multiple people in your head and that's it.

i think people don't quite understand that systemhood is not always about suffering only. being a system may genuinely help coping with stress and people may be in good relationships with their alters. not always, of course, but thinking about plurality as a curse only means to stigmatize it.

there CAN be happy life for systems and we should at least try to reach it. meow :]

This is truly beautiful work <3

wonderful

The comic consists of 18 images. Each image is drawn with a light, yellowish-gray background, and is accompanied by a small, faintly colored doodle and a line or few of text. The text in the first image reads, "An old cat's words to systems who feel isolated from the others, unseen, or otherwise invalid: My name is Yellowfang. It is a pleasure to share my thoughts with you." (End text.) The drawing shows a cat sitting amongst a small patch of flowers reminiscent of daisies. The cat is, as described, named Yellowfang. She is an introject of the character of the same name, from the series, "Warriors". She has dark-grey, nearly black, fur, with a flattened face or muzzle. Around her muzzle is lighter grey fur. (End ID.)
The text in the next image reads, "(Underlined.) A disclaimer: (End underline.) This post is not meant to be diagnostic. You should still meet diagnostic criterias for DID or OSDD in order to have it. This is only meant to refer to the different ways that DID or OSDD can present itself in those with it." (End text.) The drawing in this image is the same as the previous. (End ID.)
The text in the next image reads, "I feel comfortable saying that my system is one that is majority made up of (quote.) uncommon (end quote.) functions and qualities. Each one has made us feel a little more insecure and troubled, wondering, (quote.) Does this invalidate the rest of our experiences? (end quote.) (quote.) Are we truly a system if we do not experience things exactly as everyone else appears to? (end quote.)" (End text.) The drawing shows a feminine-presenting person, the original poster's system's body, standing, and facing, off to the right side. They are wearing a black hoodie, and their arms are crossed underneath their chest and most of their face is obscured by their mid-length, reddish-orange hair. However, what can be seen of their face shows discontent eyes. (End ID.)
The text in the next image reads, "Some of these differences... such as not having a headspace, memory blackouts, or even a host... prevented us from knowing we were a system for many years. We disregarded the possibility time and time again due to the lack of these seemingly (begin italics.) essential (end italics.) experiences." (End text.) The drawing is of three people. On the right is the system's body from the previous images. The other two are undefined humans with no distinguishing traits or features, other than a general form and mouth expression. The two unspecified humans are smiling and engaging in conversation with one another. Meanwhile, the system body from before is not engaging with them, and is instead appearing depressed or left-out. (End ID.)
The text in the next image reads, "But even after we acknowledged we likely have OSDD-1b, these differences weighed us down, making us feel as though we were faking what was happening to us." (End text.) The drawing shows the back of the system's body and the faint silhouettes of, presumably, the two unspecified humans from the previous image. The system body is reaching out to them with one hand, but the other arm is chained to something out of frame. (End ID.)
The text in the next image reads, "However... we came to peace with them in time. In long time, perhaps, but in time. With great time and exploration were we able to speculate and make sense of why we function in some of the ways that we do." (End text.) The drawing shows part of the chain from before, however there is a break in the middle of it, separating it into two. (End ID.)
The text in the next image reads, "In honesty, our differences brought us to respect and care for ourselves much more. It allowed us to acknowledge how even the smallest of struggles throughout our life, and the tiniest of details about ourselves can web together to create such intricately and frighteningly effective ways to help us survive." (End text.) The drawing shows the back of Yellowfang's head off to the left, with the main focus being on another figure. This figure is a feminine humanoid-owl, an introject of Octavia from "Helluva Boss". She is wearing a black jacket and a beanie with a crown over the front of it. She is holding her hands together out of view and smiling off to the side. (End ID.)
The text in the next image reads, "After all, being a system is for survival, not for convenience. It is convoluted, frustrating, with seemingly endless questions and concerns! And it may not always be so clear and straight-forward. Is this something you see yourselves in?" (End text.) The drawing now shows the front of Yellowfang's face. She has a slight smile, but is otherwise just looking forward fondly. (End ID.)
The text in the next image reads, "Maybe... you have never seen your personal experiences discussed amongst other systems. Perhaps it hasn't bothered you, if so, or maybe it has?" (End text.) The drawing shows an unspecified human standing off to the right, shrugging nonchalantly. To the left are several empty text boxes with a few exclamation marks. (End ID.)
The text in the next image reads, "Perhaps you are a very large system. Perhaps you are a small one." (End text.) There is two drawings to correlate to each sentence. The first one shows a large number of small doodles of humanoid figures. The second shows only three. (End ID.)
The text in the next image reads, "Maybe not much about your system makes sense to you. Or maybe most things do?" (End text.) There are two drawings, similar to the previous image. They are set next to each other. They are both two unspecified humans. The one on the left is shrugging with a frown and confused expression on their eyebrows. The human on the right is holding two items in both hands; one is a unlabelled notebook, and the other is a notepad with one page flipped over the top. (End ID.)
The text in the next image reads, "Maybe you have introjects, or are one, who is nothing like your source. Or, perhaps you are near-identical to it, like looking into a reflection." (End text.) Like previously, there are two drawing to represent each scenario. Each drawing shows a view of the back of two figures, presumed introjects. The first one is a girl with a black high-ponytail. The sides of her head are shaved and are white. She has dark skin with lighter patches across some areas, though most is out of view. She is wearing a headpiece and armored shoulders, with one black sleeve down one arm. There is a red diamond on the shoulder of the sleeve. The second introject is a grey animatronic wolf with thick, fluffy white hair with green dyed in the front. She is wearing a red top and has piercings in one of her ears. (End ID.)
The text in the next image reads, "Perhaps you have a very complex, intricate inner world. Or maybe your inner world is compact and simple. Maybe you have no inner world at all." (End text.) There is two drawings to correlate with the first two scenarios. There is space left for a third drawing, for the final scenario, but it is left empty with no drawing. The first drawing shows a large landscape, focusing on a lake with a few small houses. It is surrounded by a forest, with mountain peaks and city buildings in the background. The second drawing simply shows a couch beside a door. (End ID.)
The text in the next image reads, "Maybe your system splits very easily and often. Maybe it takes a great lot for you to. You may function one way, or another, or a mix of both, or something that is entirely different." (End text.) There is two drawings to represent the first two sentences and scenarios. Each is a drawing of two small doodles of humanoids. The first shows five, with one slightly leaned forward as if in distress. The second drawing has only two humanoids, with one also leaned in distress. (End ID.)
The text in the next image reads, "You are doing wonderfully, whichever you see yourself in, or any other that I could not include. That is what is so important to me... my inability to include. I could sit here for hours, detailing all the different possibilities for how systems may function, and I will still never be able to capture it all. It seems no two systems are exactly the same, even when they may appear to have overlapping experiences on the surface." (End text.) The drawing is of four flowers, each in different colors. One is not yet bloomed. Two of the flowers have four petals, and one only has three. (End ID.)
The text in the next image reads, "It is not pleasant or fair what led us to be the ways we are now. Being a system... It can be so dreadful and miserable, yet sometimes wonderful and comforting, and other times absolutely terrifying. But the fact that you are here now, despite everything, surely must show something. These little differences you may have-- you may not see it, but I believe that they contribute to what strengthens you. You are strong because you are here." (End text.) The drawing is the same as before, but the image has become slightly more transparent and less visible. (End ID.)
The text in the next image reads, "Treat yourself with the love and respect that you deserve. Do not insult yourself and your strength by negatively comparing your individual experience to another's. You are no less, and no greater, than any other system." (End text.) The drawing is of Yellowfang, slightly bent forward with her eyes closed and a stem of flowers in her mouth. The flowers are various shades of pink with wavy-shaped petals. (End ID.)
The text in the next image reads, "You are wonderful, and I am very proud that you are here to read this. I want you to be proud of this, too. You are here. You exist. Just know that out there is a mere old cat rooting for you." (End text.) The drawing is now the stem of flowers on its own. (End ID.) The comic ends.

i don't know if we will leave this up, because we aren't sure if it comes across how we would like. but the alter who wrote this, yellowfang, has wanted to create it for some time, so we opted to try.

we, once again, apologize for any art style inconsistencies. the comic artwork itself was worked on by several of us.

This Aged Well ๐Ÿ˜ญ Everyone who knows was very open minded about it. It isn't perfect, and they haven't made any attempt to learn more or recognize us as individuals but they acknowledge it and believe me, ultimately I am very glad I told them even though I was scared. I only told people I trusted at first. Then my family had a small bit of an intervention with me and with the support of those who already knew, I told the rest of my family who didn't know.

The only people who don't know are my Father, his Wife, and my step-sister. This is because I am only medically recognized not diagnosed and my father has a tendency of thinking me a Liar for attention. Also all three are very very close minded.

My advice to you, if you want to tell people you are a system, please be very careful who you tell. Only tell those you trust and never tell someone who might harm you in some way with this information. Your saftey should always come before your comfortability.

With Love, Cordelia

I'm terrified of my family finding out I'm a system now that i know i dont want to be diagnosed. Diagnosis would prevent me from transitioning and ruin a lot in my life. But ive already been too honest, and I've even been medically recognized as a system. It's terrifying and I don't know what to do

We usually say everything pre-realization is the hosts memories but the reality is that we can actually pin point certain memories and name who lived them. Before we knew we were a system fictives still experienced source memories, and when we were waaay younger we literally talked about having a 'sister in my head'

My point here is that this is true, the disorder does not form when you realize you have it

As a reminder:

We were not fully aware of being a system until around 2015-2016. I was around 19 years old (I think). And thatโ€™s absolutely valid - this disorder is made to be covert.

But becoming aware of your system =\= it forming. Your system forms from childhood trauma. Becoming aware of it later in life doesnโ€™t erase the other aspects of OSDDID, such as the dissociative amnesia and impact OSDDID has on your identity.

Reblogging so I can answer the question.

There are several things that I can do to influence a switch, though I would like to preface this with two things.

1: just because it doesnโ€™t look or feel like you would expect it to doesnโ€™t mean you arenโ€™t switching. For us a switch is a huge personality shift even though our conscious stays mainly unaffected. Sometimes the only way weโ€™ve realized we switched is cause either our likes and dislikes donโ€™t match the hosts, or a friend will point out something small we often didnโ€™t realize weโ€™re doing that the host would never do. (Including but not limited to: breathing patterns, posture, word choice, tone, and energy level)

2. As stated in previous posts of ours, forcing a switch when itโ€™s not necessary can be really harmful to the system and your mental health. Trying to prove to yourself that you are valid by forcing a switch is one of the worst things you can do. You validity does not hinge on if you can switch when you want to or if you even switch at all. Your symptoms are valid even if they donโ€™t fit into the box youโ€™re thinking of. That being said, if you need it to happen it most likely will, but if you find yourself in a situation where you canโ€™t switch, here are some tips of how to get it started.

Positive triggers

A positive trigger is anything that can get a headmate closer to the front. Maybe itโ€™s their favorite song or a food they really enjoy, maybe itโ€™s as simple as talking about them irl. Itโ€™s anything that gets them excited to front.

Environment

I personally have a hard time switching in an environment that Iโ€™m not comfortable in unless I get badly triggered and someone else comes out to deal with it. So if youโ€™re looking for a casual switch just to learn more about youโ€™re system, try surrounding yourself with people who are aware of the system and support all of you. Or if you would rather do this on your own, try going to a safe space where no one will interrupt you.

Unmasking

Itโ€™s possible that your headmates arenโ€™t comfortable coming out because you are telling them they have to mask perfectly. So maybe to get them used to being in the front, let them come out when you are in a safe space and no one will judge you. Give them some time and space to be themselves. Since this is mainly a covert disorder a lot of alters very well might be great at masking, but thatโ€™s no guarantee. So start of in a safe space and a healthy mindset.

Inner system communication

This is a big one, if you have any communication between your different parts try using it to express what you would like. Be honest, they share your brain and may very well know when youโ€™re lying. Explain that they are safe to come out and do as they please, that no oneโ€™s going to hurt them (again make sure you are in that safe space and healthy mindset). This simple encouragement can do wonders, but if theyโ€™re still hesitant for whatever reason or if the straight up just say no, respect that. Otherwise you might cause discourse or tension in the system which is the last thing you want.

I know a lot of this was more mindset stuff you can work on, but that stuff can be really helpful. Iโ€™ll end this post with another warning against forcing a switch when you donโ€™t need to, and some encouragement that even if you donโ€™t switch like youโ€™re โ€˜supposed toโ€™ it doesnโ€™t make it any less valid, youโ€™re feelings are still there and theyโ€™re real to you.

Have a good day, hope this is helpful.

-Apollo

Follow-up from this post here:

How do you personally leave the front? Is there any specific thing that you do that you consider important to the switching process?

Also, are there any tips you could possibly give me about switching out of the front?

SERIOUS TALK . CENSORSHIP

the amount of censorship and ignorance regarding anything that isn't remotely 'normal' or seems 'realistic' to the average eye is absolutely disgusting and genuinely ableist. see someone who's visibly disabled? oh, no, you can never go up to them! come on! avoid them! they're too different from you. you would never be able to understand them. they would never be able to understand you. have a friend who has a stigmatized mental health condition? oh! they must be faking! nobody *actually* has that! it's too rare! we should stop being friends with them! they must be a monster! have someone tell you that you have an invisible disability? that doesn't exist! if i cant see it, then you don't have it! i know your body better than you do! prove you have your disability, then! and the funny thing is, these types of things are completely censored- viewed as 'wrong' or 'not something to be talked about'. when really, it's just an excuse to not talk about, spread awareness, or allow those who are troubled by these conditions to speak up. TALK ABOUT YOUR ILLNESS. TALK ABOUT YOUR DISABILITY. TALK ABOUT YOUR 'ABNORMALCY'. show the world that **you aren't weird or crazy or monstrous for not fitting the norm.**
