Water Sprites and Cuachag | Scottish Folklore
There was once a time where every river and stream had some sort of spirit, fairy, or other creature associated with it.
"Wherever there was a spring, there was life; where-ever there was life, there was a spirit; and each river and loch, each burn and tarn, each bubbling spring had its own deity." The Silver Bough: Volume 1 by F. Marian McNeill (1957)
Sometimes water sprites were kind and helpful, but there are also ones that were a lot darker.
"I am reminded of a walk I was privileged to take with Mr. William B. Yeats on Lady Gregory’s estate at Coole Park, near Gort (County Galway); for Mr. Yeats led me to the haunts of the water-spirits of the region, along a strange river which flows underground for some distance and then comes out to the light again in its weird course, and to a dark, deep pool hidden in the forest. There are many sprites that were often talked about in Scotland, and one was Cuachag. She was said to be a dangerous river sprite living in Glen Cuaich.
“Many a river, too, has its spirit. Glen Cuaich, in Inverness-shire,’ writes Professor Watson, ‘is – or was till lately – haunted by a being known as Cuachag, the river sprite.” The Silver Bough: Volume 1 by F. Marian McNeill (1957-1968)
It was said to be a fauth, which is a name for evil water creatures.

(I decided to try drawing my take on a river sprite.)
I made a quick and dirty edit to a TPP wallpaper that's been floating around using sprites by hamigakimomo, specifically the colorized versions by citsiurtlanu. I know the team ended with OMASTAR, and I made an edit using that sprite (and colored it), but I didn't feel like finding that font to redo all the text, so here ya go. EDIT: I didn't realize Tumblr was dumb and would resize an image this small, here's a link to the full size.

Upon first glance, this passage seems to describe the Beta Kids’ kernelsprites...
...The pre-entry prototypings that evolve the battlefield and affect enemy characteristics.
Now, the passage seems to be alluding to the components that created Bec Noir, who we all know has wreaked havoc across the kids’ and trolls’ sessions and universes.
But what if the passage is referring to something else?
“Maimed clown”...
“Undead cat”...
“Impaled crow”...
(Davepeta is kind of both the Undead Cat and Impaled Crow combined.)
“Omnipotent dog”...
(Notice how even though Bec Noir and PM have all four prototyping elements, they’re only ever referred to as dogs at this point.)
“These four shall be held in reverence for the eternity they serve to cut short.”
What if this passage has yet to come, and is related to the end of Paradox Space?
Gamzee is obvious in his role, and Bec Noir would be no surprise, either. But others, such as Jasprose, Davepeta, and the Mayor (recall his dream) would be really interesting and unexpected.
Tavros has cat allergies and has only been prototyped once. What if GCat shows up, triggers Tavros’ allergies, and...
ACHOO!
...He crashes into and fuses with GCat! It’d make a nice parallel with Jade and Bec sprite-fusing, plus be all kinds of hilarious and ironic.
Plus, Tavcat? Catros? could be super effective against Bec Noir and PM because cat distraction + animal communing powers + First Guardian powers. Although he’d probably be a perpetual sneezing mess.
Even if this doesn’t happen, I have a feeling Tavros’ cat allergies will result in him inadvertently double prototyping with something or someone. And, also, Tavros controlling GCat would make a great distraction for the Becs. (As would Jaspers.)
why would davesprite have to die to ensure there's only one of him of the same explicitly didn't happen to nanna or arquius?
my last ask mgiht have been confusing, so to clarify i’m referring to how you think jaspersprite’s presence means the other sprites that were on LOTAK came to the post-retcon timeline with john. though it seems like post-retcon jaspersprite is alive too, as he didn’t die when LOWAS exploded and i’m not sure what else on the battleship would have killed him.
At this point, we really don’t know what the deal is with the sprites. The only one we know for sure made it to LOWAS is Jaspersprite. But considering Jaspers was able to tag along, it seems reasonable that Davesprite would, as well.
As for any duplicate sprites (we at least know Jaspers is one), one instance is probably doomed, even if they’re still around for now. We haven’t heard anything about Alone!Jade’s Jaspersprite, but it’s probably safe to say Nannasprite kept Jade company. So if Nanna made it to LOWAS, there would be two of her, too. Again, if so, one is probably doomed.
As for ARquiusprite, if there are two of him, there may be an important reason for that. At least one is needed to be trapped in Lil Cal and become part of Lord English. A duplicate may serve another purpose.
It’d be interesting if Erisolsprite survived, though. If in the current timeline, Feferi and Nepeta each end up being prototyped individually, then all 12 trolls will be “alive” in some way. Of the 12, only Equius and Eridan would be…fusions.
Anyway, bottom line is, if Jaspersprite could survive, Davesprite could, as well. Exactly why one of him LOWASploded, we don’t know for sure; we can only speculate. But even if he’s dead in this timeline, some other version of him will be around. His story isn’t finished. He’ll be back.
Hmmm im just wondering did Davesprite really need to die in the Alone!Jade timeline? It kinda felt like he was collateral damage in the whole thing- Since Typheus was only aiming to wipe out John and LOWAS
Actually, Typheus may have been aiming for Davesprite, as well. I think the reason he needed to die is because the Davesprite from the Game Over timeline survived and will play a more important role.
Considering Jaspersprite tagged along when John brought LOWAS into the blank void yonder, I imagine Davesprite and possibly the other sprites came as well. I mean, they were all last seen together on LOTAK before that point.
If Davesprite did tag along, Paradox Space would need to balance his existence by dooming his alt!self, just as it did with the John and Roxy of the current timeline.
Why one Davesprite over the other, though, I’m not sure. Maybe so John will be able to relate to him better? We’ll have to see. But yeah, I’m certain Davesprite is fine.
