Dive Deep into Creativity: Discover, Share, Inspire
I can’t write the Mexican/Chicano Soma Cruz fanfics that I want (for now), so I’ll draw him instead.
He’s fun to draw anyway, and I thought it’d be nice to put him in some looser, more casual clothing.
Akechi, wearing Norse clothing, with a reindeer.
I have been itching to draw this sort of thing for at least a month for reasons. ( 1. 2. 3. )
Ganymede
I drew this back in June, but for some reason never posted it. Ganymede has always been an interesting mythological figure to me, and with the Percy Jackson series on my mind, I wanted to take a crack at what he might look like in a modern setting.
No color and a little messier this time, but I really love the way Soma looks wearing a tilmàtli, and wanted to give him one with more patterns along the edges.
I know it’s not many people that have reblogged my thing of Soma, but all the positive comments and responses so far legitimately made me cry. Thank y’all so much. Especially my other Latines.
Diana Belmont, “Nobody”, and Lacrima Țepeș
Three characters for a Castlevania based D&D campaign my friends and I are planning, and I’m particularly excited about Nobody, whose backstory I will gladly get more into for anyone who’s curious. But for now, just know he bears a strong resemblance to Soma for a reason.
Didn’t really care about composition while doing this, so it feels pretty lopsided. I just kind of wanted to get their busts down. But I’ll try better next time. 😅
I felt like drawing Soma, and I felt like drawing a black dog. So here is Soma with a black dog.
After a bad bout of art block I managed to paint this lovely lady. I have no clue who she is or what she does, but I think I’ll call her Violetta. Maybe Vivi for short. :)
“I still desperately cling to the headcanon that Soma Cruz is Mexican, so I made this.”
I wish my first contribution to this fandom was some of my own art and not a recolor, but alas. All I have hidden in my folders apart from this are half-hearted doodles I won’t be posting anytime soon. 😓
But that aside, I’m pretty happy with this! And before anyone @s me. I know Soma is Japanese, that the exchange student thing was added to the English localization to make him more relatable to an American audience. But…I dunno, y’all. I still find my little rationalizations for it. He could easily have one Mexican parent and one Japanese. And the thought of him being Mexican like me just helped to further endear him to me, and I’m sure I’m not alone in that.
