This is such a deep analysis of his character that it made me cry HAHAHA. But I like this a lot so I'm saving this to my g drive. Khun has been my favorite character for almost three years now. Something about him keeps me attached to him, I remember reading about the gem scene and I was so moved. Everything seems to click when he said that he never did wear it and instead just hide it. This might be cringe but I kinda relate to his character a lot even though we have different experiences. He's been a big part of my life, even now (I first discovered TOG 2 years ago). Thank you sm for this!

The Facade Master : because Khun is actually weak

So welcome to this very uncalled for essay about yours truly, Khun <3

⚠️ CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR THE WEBTOON ⚠️

1. Khun uses a strong cold front so people can't see how traumatised and weak he is

Yes! Khun is someone who hurts... A LOT

The best evidence Khun is GREAT at faking his well being is because you only notice the extent of his trauma later on on the webtoon.

Khun's interactions with Kiseia, his father (the old version of Eduan I mean) and the flashbacks of Maria are the rare moments we CAN SEE who Khun really is. I mean, there are several other moments Khun let's his guard JUST A BIT DOWN but most of those are related to Bam because you guys know... Khun is soft from Bam and stuff 😏🤣

BUT MOVING ON

1. Kiseia / the trauma of an empatic kind hidden soul - I think this one is the main topic, cuz just the fact that she is Khun's main antagonist, means he is VERY afraid of her. And why is that? Because deep down, Khun was traumatized by the fact that his biological sister killed herself when he decided to help Maria

Khun says his sister was very cold and he didn't interact with her much, but Khun is not the heartless dude he claims and shows to be (well, expect for his enemies and RACHEL)

Khun is actually an individual capable of strong empatic feelings. He analizes people and tries to judge their character based on their actions and non verbal language. When Khun formed a team to climb the tower and bitch Rachel stabed Edian's legs until he couldn't almost walk, Khun was in pure sock, and very very conserned for Edian's well being. He stayed up all night by his side to make sure he was all right.

When it comes to Bam, Khun is even more peculiar in his empaty... is almost a possessive kind of empaty. Khun doesn't want Bam to go somewhere he himself can't reach. That's why he hates when people (in the name hunt station) called him " God". But at the same time, Khun wants to shield Bam from those high expectations that might crush him. He doesn't want Bam to have that burn because... he knows the burden of high expectations

2. Maria / the deathly choise and first step to freedom- Maria is a very important person in Khun's life. By the little flashbacks we have, we can see that Maria has sort of an "outcast" in the Khun family because she was unusually kind. When Maria asked Khun if he would help her become a princess of Jahad, Khun had nothing to gain from it.

Khun usually manipulates people and does what he has to do to get that benefits him the most. But when it came to Maria... he choose the worst option. It wasn't a rational option, because Khun is VERY EMOTIONAL. He is bindled to his emotional self because he considers himself a very rational human being, which makes him unable to see how emotional heighted his choises are.

In truth, Khun was captivated by Maria. He was curious because she was different. He decided to help her because she showed him another option, another way... an escape route to a word Khun didn't even know it existed... the world of kidness, a world where life was valued, people didn't kill each other and he could be the child he was without having to be concern about power games inside his family.

And Khun chose Maria in the first place because he HATED those power games. Because he, in truth, kind and never wanted to take part on those dirty, manipulative games. Maria destroyed Khun's life. The price to pay was the heavy trauma and guilt of having his sister kill herself, but Khun got his FREEDOM

Maria presents Khun with the ideia of " struggling is beautiful" and Khun, for the first time, knows that life has value and his family ways are not all the world has to offer

3. Khun Eduan / all not to be and all he can be - Eduan represents Khun's incompetence in leaving the past behind. Even tho he was abandoned by his family, and wants to follow a different path from the Khun family's values and atitudes, Khun is unable to seperate himself from his origins.

But Khun HAS the need to make himself different from other Khuns, shown by how he felt the need to make a spear of his own, so his was not a copy of his father. He, by any means, doesn't want to be associated with Eduan, because Eduan represents all he hates in his family, in his previous life.

But Khun still uses his family name with "pride". More like... a guilt coat I would say. Sometimes he claims how despicable, sneaky, sly and mischievous he can be... but isn't that just a way to TRASH himself? To speak badly of himself?

Isn't that coat just a way to put the weight of others people's shoulders on his? In truth, Khun views himself as someone "dirty" he has blood on his hands despite everything. So he gives himself the dirty jobs he thinks he is worth of doing.

That's the only way he knows how to act. The only way he knows how to survive. If Khun dropped that facade of the sly man that trusts no one... what would be left of him? Someone vulnerable, someone afraid to be abandoned once again, by Bam, just as Maria did. Someone unable to free himself from his family because other than that, he doesn't know who he is, he can't see himself.

And he struggles to find who he is, because he was never able to be anything else than a KHUN . He is still searching for that sensible persona he truly is, but in the harsh reality of the Tower, Khun's sly facade is the best mask to have

4. Bam / protective projection and affection - " I keep my most precious jewel hidden so I never get to use it on me"

SO we had to finish with the best part, right?

Bam is alm Khun wasn't able to be. Innocent, care free, unbounded by anything in the tower. Khun feels the intense need to make sure Baam is not a victim of the same cruelty and raw violence and malice he was victim of. That's why Khun takes care of the dirty jobs himself... because he wants to keep Bam's hands clean, even if it means he was to stain his own hands.

The quote by the start of this topic resumes pretty much Khun's relation with Bam: Khun wants to protect Bam so badly, and shild him from all warm even if he knows that's 100% IMPOSSIBLE but he also wants to live openly with Bam by his side, without hidding. He wants to fully enjoy the pure hapiness of having a real friend by his side.

Khun is VERY VERY afraid of being abandoned. He "choose to be", but that did impact him for the rest of his life. When he judjes someone as someone who is a GOOD PERSON he tends to hold on to them even if his life depends on it. Because in truth, Khun is desperate for that human connection and bonds that Maria showed could exist if he reached for something different.

Bam is a good person in Khun's eyes. In Khun's eyes he must not suffer. But if Bam lives openly, he will SUFFER, because he will show the Tower his true power, the will become the " GOD" and Khun wouldn't be able to reach him any longer. " Isn't better being human? " shows how much Khun wants Bam to free himself from high expectations, just as much Khun needs to still free himself to the weight of his name.

In the end, Khun is fighting a battle he knows he can't win. He is acting on emotion alone when he follows Bam, when he makes sure his jewel is save on his pocket. He knows he was to let it go eventually, but Khun will do everything NOT TO LET GO. Because Khun sees in Bam everything he wishes for, everything he wants in the relationships with others.

Bam is the personification of Khun's resolve to chose the hard, yet better way to live life.

There is nothing sly and evil in his persona. He is just a boy who wasn't able to grow his own personality, self - worth and self - value because of the rudness of the world. Khun doesn't want to be like his family, but not being like them is not enough... because that's a emtpy pit of dispare.

Khun has to be his own person, find who he is.

But until he realizes and admits that those emotions live inside him, until he is able to face himself and his traumas and weakness... Khun will never be able to be more than just " someone different from his family"

Who knows who Khun might turn out to be when he is truly free from himself, when he shows his true colors. I am sure he is far from dirty and rude. He is beautiful, hurt and kind 💙

Ps: I find it interesting how Khun and Killua Zoldyck (from Hunter x Hunter) are so so similar in the way they think and their relationship to their significant other (Gon in Killua's case)

But Killua has able to free himself from his family and find himself at the end. But I think Khun's situation is more complicated than Killua's since there are more people and power games involved. And Khun is even more blind to his emotional side than Killua is...

Reading the manhwa and watching the anime of TOG of the crown game episode is such a masterpiece. You can basically merge both of the fighting scenes in my opinion.

(I'm watching it since that's the chapter I'm writing right now.)

Ramblings

Ahh, I miss tumblr and Tower of God. I've been worried about our research defense that will be scheduled next week, our teacher keeps dragging the announcement of the sched. I still play Genshin and have been engrossed again with Tower of God, mostly because of Khun. I also notice the lack of fanfics/ficlets/one-shot on "Classroom of Elites" so I might write something about that. BUT, I am in the making of a "Tower of God" fanfic with well, Khun x reader? I might post it here when I reach the chapter of the reader entering the tower, yes the reader has a whole backstory. Of course, it would still follow the plot of the webtoon with a bit of the reader's own story. It will be a challenge for me to also improve in writing. I'm done with the prologue and in the middle of chapter 1. I'm posting my rumblings here since my Twitter is kind of useless, to be honest.

Khun Aguero Agnes x Reader (Fanfic)

Cruel. That's one way to descibe him. Khun Aguero Agnes is known as a rich and cruel regular in the tower. He always does anything according to his plan and do everything to make it work. Even if he needs to do something cruel, he will do it.

Of course, he's well aware of that. He's aware how cruel can he be. But that doesn't matter. His loyalty will stay on the team. He won't let his team down, never. He's always composed and kind of cocky. He's emotion are always clouded by his smirks and taunting remarks. He doesn't care how anyone sees him, he's just doing his best to climb the tower like anyone else..

He doesn't care about those talks...

But there's one thing in his mind that's been bugging him.

It was you.

The both of you are kinda opposite, he knows that. That's why everyone who heard about your relationship were just shocked. How? A girl like you? And a cruel man like him? Got together? Just how?

Well, even him can't explain it. It was just funny how you can keep up with his taunts. How you retort back at him. How you smirk back at him and just keep on fighting with your own words though you never win.

On the other side, you aren't that good. You're just normal. You get angry or mad, sad and happy, just like anyone else. Except the fact that you have such a huge understanding on everything. You understand both of the side, your team's goal and the other team's goal. You're just too...too relatable on anything. Shows too much sympathy on everyone. And that makes you a pain. People like you are most likely to be betrayed. And it's a well known fact not to trust anyone in the tower.

Though he can't really complain about that. It's a part of you. And it actually amuses him that you never let go of that characteristic of yours even if you have been betrayed many times. It's funny, just...how can you do that? You told him once that you feel mad about them but...you can't hurt them. And when he asks why. You just simply replied.

"It's hard to hurt someone you use to take care of."

He can't believe what you just said. It's hard? But they hurt you? Even if you take care of them, they still hurt you. Whenever he tries to prove his point on that, you just ended up pouting, saying how all of that are just in the past. That you shouldn't bother digging that up.

And he would just sighed, knowing that you won't listen.

It was fine. Everything was fine for the both of you. He always teases which you "sometimes" tried to retort back. He's kind of sweet whenever the both of you are alone. Though you need to get through his cocky mode and taunting remarks first before you reached his sweet side. And whenever he's sweet, it's always caught you off guard.

He would say some sweet words on you and then back on his cocky mode. He just like messing with you since he know where's the perfect time to drop the sweet candy. And he never failed on doing that. And you never complain also.

He smirked as he stared at the man on the floor. The blood were pooling the floor. Well, it was actually an unexpected event. Someone just got too cocky and tried killing him. He clicked his tounge before glancing at you.

And as usual, you were not looking at him. You're staring far ahead from him. You never moved your eyes from that place since you saw how his knife pierced the man's stomach. You immediately look away, not wanting to see the outcome.

"Y/n", he called.

You hummed in response, not bothering to look at him since you know what's on the floor. You hear his footsteps and soon enough he was now on your side.

"Let's go."

You nodded before following him. The both of you are just heading home when that man suddenly shows up and mess with the both of you.

Eventually, it happens. Him being dead now on the floor and Khun being silent again. You have notice it, everytime he kills someone, he became silent. It was not like him, you know that. But ever since the both of you got together, that became his habit.

Khun can hear those talks and it's making him anxious. You always look away when he do that. He was scared but of course he won't admit it. He was scared that he's losing you because of his cruelty. He's afraid that it would be the reason for the both of you to part ways.

He bite his lip. He can hear you walking just beside him. At this time, he should be holding your hand. But he was scared, he can feel the hot feeling on his hand, the blood from the man was still on his hand.

Everytime it happens, it takes him back to the day when someone shouted from the crowd on how cruel can you be. How the hell can you love him if he just did kill someone in front of you? At first, he didn't mind. But after seeing that one gesture of yours, he became more aware of it.

He was overthinking. He knows that but he can't settle it himself. He needs to know your words but he can't get the words to ask. No, he knows what to ask, but he's pushing it away from his tounge. Making himself believe that he just doesn't know how to start asking you that.

"Khun."

He immediately stopped as soon as he heard you called him. He smiled, trying to hide whatever he's thinking.

"Yes? What is it?"

His tone was normal but you can feel it. There's something wrong. And you know that Khun wasn't great at expressing what he's thinking.

"Wha...What are you thinking?"

As soon as you asked that, you heard a sudden bang on him. Well, not literally, it's just like you heard a sudden click on him, like you just manage to ask what he's wanting you to ask for.

A moment of silence pass the both of you. You can feel your nervousness on the pit of your stomach, threatening to flow to your entire body. You gulped, hoping he would say something until you heard him sigh.

"Everytime I killed someone in front of you..." He started, his eyes locking on your eyes. "Do you doubt your love for me?"

The cold wind of the night blews, making your skin cold. You slowly gulp as the silence covers the both of you. You're trying your best not to shiver from the cold but his stare was enough to make you to. You bit the inside of your cheek, trying to distract yourself from the nervousness swirling on your stomach.

Khun waited. But your silence scares him, he knows that it was barely ten seconds since the silence started but he felt like it has been so long. He can feel his self, being suffocated. He doesn't even know if he's still breathing properly. He curled up his fist but immediately shake it off, gulping slowly he turns around.

"Forget it. It's just a random thought."

That's enough, he thought. He can't stand it. The blank look at your eyes was too much to look at. Maybe it was better for you not to answer. Maybe it was better for the both of you. Maybe..maybe he should---

His thought was cut off when you suddenly hold his hand. He flinched a little but stopped immediately to look at you. He blinked at you, you were smiling. A sweet smile was on your lips as you held his hand.

"Aguero." You called.

"What?" He asked, trying to stay composed, despite the fact that you caught him off guard.

You looked at him as you slowly lead his hand to your lips. You closed you eyes and kiss the back of his hand and his knuckle.

You opened your eyes, he's looking at you with too much confusion in his eyes. You smiled again, intertwining your hand to him.

"Were you scared that the blood on your hands will make me stop loving you?"

You slightly chuckle, shaking your head as you draw circles on the back of his hand.

"Does that one question from the crowds bugs you too much? Do you want me to answer it?"

He didn't response, he's still looking at you. Just waiting for the words you spill on your mouth.

You sighed. "I don't care if people look at me as a cruel-hearted one. I'm going to stand by your side, even if you are the cruelest one in this world. I don't care if they see me as a monster for loving you. Well, I don't like the idea of killing someone so I'll look away but that doesn't mean my love would change. It will stay the same as how much I love you since the first day of ours. I'll stay be your side. I don't care being the devil on everyone's eyes if I'm beside my angel. I love you...so much more than you think."

Khun opened his mouth to say something but words aren't just enough for a reply for what you've said. That was too much to hear. He just wanted to make sure but hearing all those words makes him more than sure. He sighed before chuckling.

"That's too much words coming from a shortie like you."

You pouted. "I'm just stating fact, you dummy."

He smiled. "Can you not say those words on random times?"

"Why not?"

"Just because." He answered as he suddenly pulls you into a hug. It was too fast for you that you didn't manage to react. "And yes, I love you too, shortie."

I really hope the tog spin off is made in English soon, I don't think I have the patience to read it on a site where porn ads pop up every 5 seconds :/

Everytime i listen to Irregular God and think about Bam I get chills. It fits so well I know i’ve talked abt this so so so many times BUT GOD ITS SO FITTING FOR HIM

I CANT STOP TALKING ABOUT HOW WELL IT WORKS FOR HIM

Its so tragic and yet the chorus that sounds like people worshipping him BUT HE’S A CHILD AND ONE WHO HAS NO IDEA WHATS GOING ON

And I think about Bam now and god I get so emotional remembering where he started and how different he is now. He’s found confidence in himself but its in some part arrogance, ARROGANCE THAT HE DID NOT HAVE at the start of the series and that gets me in my feels that he did not HAVE that in him until FUG. He’s snarky and more confident about fighting, even ready to sacrifice lives to win, which he definitely couldn’t fathom becoming okay with when he started climbing. White whom he loathed ends up being right, that Bam WILL learn to burn souls, something Bam fought White over and Bam is forced to make his peace w that. The hug w Khun and Bam was so pivotal also that reassurance that Bam is still a good person even if he does things he wishes he’d never have to, all of that are little bits of him that hasn’t changed since FUG.

You see how even now, he doesnt want the casualties, he sees the families tearing each other apart and he doesn’t understand it, he doesn’t want it

And it adds so much weight to Hwaryun actually, the degree to which Bam has changed. All the experiences that Hwaryun guided him to, changed him and she actually is painfully aware of it. If i remember right she’s the one who tells Wangnan that its not fair that someone who so clearly was not meant to be who Bam is now was given a destiny that is this gorey. No one else pushes Bam down this road as brutally as she does, and she knows it. That scene of her giving Bam the choice, the first time she makes it clear and obvious that it truly is his choice did SO MUCH for her character and omg how did me gushing about Irregular God turn into Bam and Hwaryun analysis

I think that the height average is just a lot higher in TOG. Idk if it counts as canon but I know one of the TOG: New World loading screen says Yuri is 180cm tall and how that's not considered very tall in the tower. Rankers are just built different (long). Idk but I don't like the idea of me being taller than Bam that just feels wrong 💀

I know that Baam’s supposed to be like 5'10" 5'11" (according to the wiki and assuming my math is right), but seeing how small he is next to any of the other characters and how excited he got when Jinsung suggested that he grew when they reunited during the Nest Arc just reads (to me) that he's not that tall. Maybe it's my 5'1" ass having a skewed idea of what tall is, but I'd put him at like 5'7" if even. He's a head shorter than most characters. He's a little guy.
