HEYYY!!!! I've been wanting to ask you a question about Donut since he had the Factor of Four and all. Does he act or look different from the other contestants?? Like does he have some things on his appearence or have habits that the algebralian also have???
Sorry If this question isn't really the type of thing you answer, Im just really curious about what you think abt this!!!!!!
OOOH anonymous I am SO glad you asked that because I finally get an excuse to introduce the wild world ooooof...
[this is another long one, so if you're just looking for Donut's dilemma, it'll be at the bottom of this ramble!]
So it is a bit of common knowledge that algebraliens, namely numerical-based ones have the ability to be added, subtracted, and all other manners of mathematical operations!
For simplicity's sake, I will leave variable and geometrical subspecies of algebraliens for a different discussion, since their ability to combine is pretty nuanced...
But essentially, the process of factorization (such as what happened to Donut) and other operations boil down to the reactionary ability for algebraliens forms to combine with anything that resembles a number and is within a threshold of a similar size to them, while also in the presence of anything that resembles a mathematical operator.
Biologically, the most we know about the process is that it boils down to the malleability of algebralien physical forms, where the 'bralien(s) subject to the operation reduce to a liquid-esque form and combine with whatever they are paired with.
It's a process that is completely innate to us, and will always occur when the right conditions are met, regardless of whether or not the algebralien(s) present are intending to let it happen or not!
Something unique about this process comes with anything that utilizes the number zero and mathematically results in a zero, such as dividing zero by a number, multiplying any number by zero, etc. will cause the non-zero algebralien to become trapped deeply within the zero. They are essentially immobilized, and it takes them quite a while for them to escape on their own, and it may even be impossible without assistance!
Because of this property, algebraliens with a value of zero often are given the role of those who keep peace and justice in algebralien societies... It doesn't happen often that an algebralien causes enough issues to warrant being sealed away within a zero, but I did record an interview on a relatively recent case where a rambunctious algebralien was dead set on causing pretty serious harm and was dealt with by being sealed in a zero...
In Donut's case, his situation was pretty unique... since he vaguely resembled a zero, it was just enough to complete the equation and combine him with Four, but it led to some... strange side effects...
I can't go back in time to investigate further, and we aren't at the point where we feel safe to test any other factorizations with number-shaped objects, but I have a theory that Four's liquid form caused some sort of bond with Donut's body, (specifically the cardiovascular, nervous, and limbic systems) and changed both his appearance and his attitude a bit, as well as giving him a few abilities typical of Algebraliens such as gravity manipulation and spatial distortion...
When I interviewed Donut about his experience, he says his memory is a bit fuzzy, but he remembers feeling strangely mischevious and VERY confident... Perhaps Four's personality blended a little with his own alongside the abilities he acquired...

Please give creds if you use, my watermark is in the corner. <3
[Might start using these colors idk]
So I've been thinking about this A LOT lately but I like to think that the algebraliens are really fond to their loved ones(platonic or romantic) to the point that once they're gone they're unable to be themselves until they're back. Take Two for example, after Gatys disappearance they have been depressed and didn't even move after New Years. And after either Four or X disappears(miles away), either of them grew much more vulnerable bc they're not beside each other. Four literally just sat under a dang tree sulking bc he doesn't know where his co-host is and challenged the contestants to bring him back and X had been unlike himself either ever since Four got multiplied with Donut. X didn't even leave the same spot after Four sunk into the earth right after the announcers challenge had finished. Like ajsbshsjsbbsbs imagine if it's Six and Nine.đ«ą

Meanwhile in an alternate timeline: đ©âŹ
( Main part on its own: )
I dreamed that this happened last night
Two wiped their eyes slowly, fingers trembling but dry now. No more tears cameânot because they had healed, but because they were simply empty. A numb ache settled deep in their chest, like an unfinished equation looping endlessly.
They didnât return to their room.
Their feet moved on instinct, quietly padding down the hallway to another door. The one barely anyone used anymore. The room where Gaty had once held them after the infection was over, anchored them, where Two felt like she loved them.
The door creaked open. The faint scent of fabric softener and time clung to the air. The pink couch was still there. Old, faded, but safe.
Two collapsed onto it without a word, curling inward. It felt like Gaty had left some part of herself here. Maybe her voice. Maybe her warmth.
And without knowing it, they drifted again into sleep.
The same dream.
Same field. Same light. Same arms.
Gaty was warm in their hold, just like before. Twoâs chest ached againâbut not with grief. With relief. With love. With the memory of something good.
But just like before, time cracked.
Gaty's form flickeredâfaint, fading.
âNo, no, noâGaty, pleaseââ
And then she was gone.
Two fell forward into empty space.
Only to look up⊠and find her.
One.
Standing in the field of light, like a glitch in reality. Her grin was all wrong. Her eyesâsharp, venomousâpierced into Two like they had always belonged there.
She stepped forward, her form eerily calm.
âTook all that to get you here, huh?â she said. Her tone wasnât mocking this time. It was disappointed. Dangerous. âAll this crying, all this moping... and for what? A girl who left you?â
Two backed away, but the dream wouldnât let them run.
âYou think I wanted to hurt you?â One continued, head tilting. âNo. I wanted what was mine. Your power. Your place. Your spotlight.â
Her expression twisted.
âAnd you were too selfish to share.â
Two shook their head, trembling. âThatâs not trueâŠâ
âIsnât it?â she hissed. âYou think you deserved Gaty? No. She pitied you.â
Two froze.
âShe didnât love you. She saw you breaking and thought, âPoor Two, what a wreck.ââ Oneâs eyes narrowed. âShe wanted to help a stray number, not hold onto one.â
The field cracked again, splintering. The sky darkened.
And then, the words that broke them:
The dream shattered.
Twoâs eyes snapped open.
The pink couch was cold now. The sun outside had barely risen.
Their hands were clenched so tightly, their knuckles had turned pale. Their chest hurt, not from panic, but from heartbreak freshly torn open.
She wouldnât say that.
She wouldnât.
But dreams have a cruel way of borrowing voicesâespecially when seeded by people like One.
Two curled up tighter, shaking.
Because no matter how false it was, the words echoed.
And Gatyâs absence answered nothing.
[Motivation? -> @imaginedmist 's Lulled by numbers post. :3]
The sobs faded into the silence, and exhaustion took over. Twoâs body, tired from the emotional toll, finally gave in to the weight of sleep. They drifted into the darkness, and in that darkness, there was a shift.
In the dream, it was different.
Two was standing in a familiar placeâa field bathed in the soft glow of twilight. The air was gentle, not cold, but warm like a memory. And there, standing before them, was Gaty.
âGatyâŠâ The name spilled from Twoâs lips, trembling, like it was a prayer.
She smiled at them. A smile they hadn't seen in so long. It was realâaliveâand it made Twoâs chest ache in ways they couldnât describe.
Gaty stepped forward, and before Two could think, they reached out, pulling her into their arms. It felt like everything they had ever neededâthe warmth, the comfort, the sense of belongingâwas there. She was there.
For the first time in what felt like forever, Two felt whole again.
âI missed you so muchâŠâ Two whispered, their voice breaking as they held her close. âIâm so sorry. I couldnât protect you. I should haveââ
But Gaty pulled away slightly, her smile still soft. Her eyes were gentle but sad.
âItâs okay, Two. Iâm here now.â
For a moment, it felt like the world was finally right. Everything felt right. They were together again. The world beyond didnât matter.
But then, just as quickly as the warmth had come, it began to fade. A dark shadow twisted around the edges of their dream, pulling everything away. The light dimmed, and Gatyâs smile wavered.
âTwo, wake up.â
It wasnât her voice anymore. It was something else. Something distant.
The world shattered. Time fractured.
Twoâs eyes snapped open.
They were back in the hotel room. The soft sounds of Goiky outside drifted through the window. But it was silent hereâempty.
Twoâs breath was ragged as they shot up from the bed, the remnants of the dream still clinging to their mind like smoke. They scrambled to their feet, panic rising in their chest.
âGaty?â Their voice was hoarse. âGaty?â
They ran out of the room, heart pounding, mind reeling, as if by some miracle, the dream could be real again.
The kitchen. Maybe she was there. Maybe the dream hadnât ended. Maybeâ
But when Two entered the kitchen, it was empty.
The cold tiles beneath their feet didnât feel like the warm embrace of the dream. The counters were barren. The air felt thick with nothing.
Twoâs legs gave way beneath them. They dropped to their knees, tears rising in their eyes again, and the emptiness was suffocating.
Gaty wasnât there. She never would be again.
âWhyâŠâ Twoâs voice broke as they cried out, echoing the desperation of their heart. âWhy canât I hold on to you? Why did they take you from me?â
The weight of the nightmare hung heavy, a cruel reminder that even in their dreams, Gaty would slip away.
The silence of the kitchen felt like the final insult. Time had broken again. The pieces of the dream, the brief moment of peace, had scattered like fragile glass, leaving Two with nothing but the shards of memory.
