never getting over how genuinely distressed tai lung looks when po does his shuffling trick. mid fight this man stops and panics because he cant figure out a childrens magic trick
If you told me that AI wrote the script for season 4 of The Umbrella Academy I’d almost believe you. But I don’t think even AI could’ve messed up it up as much as the writers did. Someone must have a secret vendetta against the fans or something because in what world was that a good season? Or even a good way to end a show? I’m so blown away by the talent that was wasted, the character growth, the hardworking actors, the fans who’ve waited so long. The only thing that comes to mind when trying to articulate how let down i felt is comparing it to the ending of Game of Thrones.
Netflix has had so many loyal fan/customers despite how quickly they cancel shows. I myself use my friends account as we are at each other’s houses quite frequently anyway. But if I had my own account still (I unsubscribed after they cancelled tv shows after the strikes) I think I’d have canceled it for sure after this. I’m no expert by any means at marketing or producing shows, but something has got to change. Or at least I think so, maybe they’re still making money by the millions and don’t care about quality? I’m just confused as to how this happened.
I myself have never read the comics, can someone tell me if this is anything similar to what happens in those? I feel like there has to be some explanation for how badly the season was handled. Let me know if I’m missing something!
I just officially watched the first three episodes of season four and I’m debating watching the rest after seeing spoilers. But my takeaways so far are:
After all they’ve been through, they still don’t really keep in touch? Weird but okay.
Sloane and Ray just gone like that, huh? Doesn’t make any sense but sure.
As a Luther fan, I am devastated that everyone so far has cool upgrades on powers except him, and not only that, they incorporated Pogo’s DNA being part of his power??? How does that work??? Also, like, how awful is that??? He was finally normal again and they go back to bringing that trauma back in his life??? I kinda wanted to see how his power would’ve evolved into new stuff like the others, but whatever.
As a Ben fan since season one, what is happening here. I know this Ben is not Umbrella Ben, but like, cryptocurrency scam artist Ben? No real character development Ben? The plot revolves around him but he’s hardly on screen Ben? Only good thing is that he was giving major Doc Ock vibes in episode three.
I like the potential whump fics that will come out of them getting their powers back. But even a fan of whump fics, I could’ve done without the excessive visceral vomiting.
Diego seems like he was written by someone who really didn’t get his character. I mean they all did seem OOC, but Diego especially to me??? Like that man didn’t give stay at home dad vibes last season with Stanley??? Lila being the stay at home parent? Really? No.
There’s a lot I would’ve changed so far, but I guess overall, the first three episodes were okay.
I honestly do not see enough talk of how Tilín was absolutely q!parrotduo's kid through and through. They took care of that egg as if it were their own, and Tilín even admitted they enjoyed the family dynamic. Bobby and Tilín were so sibling coded, frenemies to the core with the constant fighting augh.
But also how q!Roier has to keep seeing the kids die around him? Tilín was the first in a long streak and goddamn that was his child, he was ready to adopt them if q!Quackity didn't step up soon! Time and time again, the kids keep dying around him, and Tilín's demise was but a humble start.
Like q!Jaiden's gentleness and compassion towards a very neglected child is so important, and q!Roier's will to always help to do the quests or just share a laugh is so incredible precious. Tilín was a Familioier child.
I remember how pissed q!Roier was, the memory of betrayal burning fresh in his mind as he took a picture of q!Slime as evidence, and how that was a loss deeply felt by the family. The only egg Bobby had grown close to afterward was Richas, and even that took some time and an initially bad first impression.
q!Jaiden wanted to protect the eggs with everything she had, because she'd lost two kids by the time Bobby died, not just one.
They did Tilín's tasks, played with them, fed them, took care of them as if they were part of the family, and in everything but official confirmation they were.
Guys I need your help to prove a point. A friend of mine is developing a high quality 2D heroic fantasy animated show, that everyone wants to see but no one to fund. The broadcasters and platforms are telling her that heroic fantasy is a niche genre that doesn’t sell as is 2D animation.
So….
Like if you enjoy 2D animation.
Like if you enjoy heroic fantasy .

Can I propose an au idea? An au where Tubbo dies in the vault at the hands of Dream, and finds himself in the past, when the sbi are all together, before entering the Dream SMP. He’s not the only one - Wilbur has also found himself in the past, although he only remembers up until the moment of his death.
The catch is that, sort of like Ghostbur, when they get to the past, they’re primarily driven by the opposite emotions that they had around the time of their death.
Wilbur, who had gone off the deep end, ends up much more like Ghostbur in the past. It’s not entirely the same, he hasn’t forgotten anything and doesn’t forget things, but he’s primarily driven by a want to keep his family happy and safe. And since he’s a living person, not a ghost, he’s still capable of feeling other emotions, changing and evolving.
Tubbo on the other hand, who stayed himself until the end, who spent his last moments comforting Tommy with a smile on his face, wakes up bitter and angry. He feels used, is furious that his own death was because no one thought of him as his own person, just as an extension of Tommy, and wants revenge on the people who killed him and made him suffer. And if people see him as a bad guy for it, well, at least they’ll be seeing him as a individual with agency at all.
Either they don’t realize that the other is in the past and are working around each other, or more interestingly, they realize that they’re both in the past, and Wilbur has to try and convince Tubbo not to ruin Phil and Techno (among others), since they haven’t done anything yet.
Healing shenanigans ensue?
Oh, this is interesting. Time travel AUs are always fun to work with, and this could go down several paths.
So both Wilbur and Tubbo end up in the past. Are they in a private home world? Smp Earth?
The others seeing the changes would be interesting too. Tommy is such a source of conflict, for both of them, but Tubbo especially. Wilbur can think back on his actions with a much clearer mind, and he regrets them, deeply.
Tubbo...well, Tommy’s his best friend. But like you said, everyone only saw him as an extension of Tommy. And in his last moments, as a way to hurt Tommy. The equal anger and guilt about being used like that...
God, all the SBI are going to get whiplash when dealing with the new Wilbur and Tubbo, but Tommy’s probably going to get the brunt of it, all things considered.
If they don’t realize they’re both in the past? Wilbur tries to pull his family together before they have the chance to fall apart. Does he succeed? Does he not? We could have SBI sticking together and maybe even joining the Dream Smp as a group, or coming sooner in the pogtopia arc, or maybe not even joining at all.
Tubbo could stay and plot, or he could just straight up run away, and the SBI could see him years later, as an entirely different person. In what way? Who knows. Maybe he healed in those years away, got a better life, set himself free. Maybe he grew more bitter, more angrier, more desperate to prove he was a person, and not just something to be tossed aside or used against others.
They realize they’re both in the past? Prime bonding material between Tubbo and Wilbur. Maybe Wilbur convinces Tubbo to hold off on making Phil and Techno’s lives hard on the condition that they actually change for the better, and it’s a visible change. Maybe Tubbo still ups and leaves, and Wilbur and the SBi chase after him.
We could have late night conversations between Tubbo and Wilbur, about their presidencies, and regrets, and Tommy. About how they could change things for the better, or just never get involved at all. Wilbur’s all for the former, and Tubbo preferring the latter.
Moral dilemmas between both parties, heartbreaking conversations, and their friends and family trying to piece together these people they’ve known all their lives, but who now seem so broken and different.
Au where Tubbo is Jackie (and not the other way around!) Jackie’s maybe 14 or so in the event, and sometime after the tales event, Jackie found himself in the past with a messed up memory, and was found on the side of the road by the sbi, taking the name Tubbo.
At some point he does remember who he was before he ended up in the past. And the whole hitman/expert fighter/war general thing is something that’s actually a lot harder to reconcile with who he is now than one would imagine it would be.
Oh, this is a really cool idea. For laughs, maybe he panicked when they asked what his name was, because he can’t remember it, and saw the name on the side of the box, and went ‘Tubbo...yes. My name is Tubbo. Absolutely, that is me, just nobody look at the words on the box.’
And I can imagine it would be. Being a hitman and growing up free to do kid-stuff like chase bees and wrestle with his friend probably make for two very different people, even if at the core, they’re the same. Nature and nuture, y’know?
On the bright side, now he remembers why he knows how to pick locks and stab people in certain ways, and he remembers even more neat tricks! How useful!
Depending on when he remembers, there’s a lot of chances for different things to happen, so that’s also something that’d be neat to play around with.

Cute cottagecore AU where the minors get shrunken down into tiny little people, and decide that, for their safety, they should probably head somewhere far away from here.
So they pack their stuff up, bundle up a normal sized Michael, saddle a pig, and ride off into the sunset, where they eventually find a distant flower forest, bordered by a dark oak forest, and settle down.
They build a big, cozy cottage for Michael, and all have their own little areas inside, since they no longer take up much room.
Tommy builds a small burrow under the house, accessible with a trap door. It leads outside to a large dark oak, which has been hollowed out near the bottom for him.
Purpled’s got a spot in the loft, hidden in the walls, and accessible through a little mouse hole in the corner.
Tubbo and Ranboo have a tiny little house in the kitchen, built into one of the bottom cabinets, so they’re closer to Michael.
Anyway, basically just the four being tiny fairies, and raising Michael together. They have a little mushroom and flower garden out back, Purpled teaches Michael how to farm. Tubbo tames a bunch of bees, that he rides around everywhere, and they protect him and let him into their hive. He’s also got ghost Squeaks to tell him stuff, and a little baby fox named Russet that helps him in the garden, and the two steal from the berry bushes all the time.
Tommy befriends a parrot and a raccoon that have both adopted him, and assist him in crime. Ranboo can often be found sitting on a dirt block held by an Endermen while he talks with them and gives them a flower, and Purpled brought Dogchamp, and now rides him around and puts stuff in the pouch around his neck.
Tommy sews normal clothes, for both them and Michael, but also little outfits made of the flowers too, which works out surprisingly well, and they make tiny versions of tools and stuff. The cottage is basically filled with what looks like doll-house furniture, but functional.
Maybe they even meet other tiny people, and have a little community or something.
It just sounds cute, that’s all.
