Again, They Come Running To My Call Of Distress

Again, they come running to my call of distress

only to burrow in my skin and call me delicate

their stinger falling off upon entry

They want to peel off each layer to watch it grow back shiny and new.

They choke for me as I swallow their marbles but they won’t bleed for me

won’t breathe for me

and my humming bird heart won’t sway

nor listen to what you have to say

won’t cry as you break my bones

didn’t you know you’d get what was coming to you?

oh come on, you had to have known. yet you still decided to act like everyone owed you something, so the world gave you it— not what you wanted but what you deserved.

i write this for you— but to say your name would give you too much power.

you’ll be buried and the world will spin on

you’ll be worm food and we will forget you, however our dna won’t. not till we break the cycle.

Didn’t You Know You’d Get What Was Coming To You?

I know it’s not much in the face of everything but I have been finding hope & resilience in palestinian poetry these past few weeks and I created a google drive file of poetry collections by palestinian poets that I will keep updating as I keep on reading. I also recommend checking out @fiercynn’s palestinian poets series for more poets + poetry available online

Diana

Rising with the moon,

She represents me and you.

She’s fierce and brave,

She’ll put you in your place.

She shines brightly,

Her glow never left.

A hand outstretched and her lips upon your cheek.

A bow and arrow raised to the sky.

A breeze chills past you, breathe.

Diana, protect us from the darkness with your light.

Diana bring us children.

Goddess of the hunt, bring forth your love!

Fuck! You already know what I’m about to say

I’ve fallen.

Lips have been touched

Body has been hugged

Eyes have been met

Hands have been held

And fuck it – I’m melting

i saw a post on twitter by a european saying americans are fake for their random compliments to strangers and their general cheery demeanor and like no. no no no you don’t understand. if you get a random compliment from an american on the street about your outfit or whatever, that is 100% genuine. we mean it. we aren’t lying we are making a small but fleeting connection with you because our lives are shitty but the human condition is enduring. oh god i’m clutching my chest

With the Stars as My Compass: After ten years of wondering just who her father was, Noemi Clarkson finds the answer in a place she’d least expect. virginia woolf's 1931 new years resolutions : "to have none. not to be tied. to be free & kindly with myself. sometimes to read, sometimes not to read. to go out, yes—but stay at home in spite of being asked. as for clothes, i think to buy good ones."
