I saw a post somewhere talking about how they wanted iterator can plushies so i made one :3
I'm happy to be able to finally, officially, introduce my first Iterator oc, Three Signals! :"D
As one may tell, I can't help myself but to write novels on top and around my ocs, so apologies for the large amount of text.
Their lore is almost completed and I'd advise to referr to posts from here onward, if anyone is interested :0c
The story is grounded on a lot of my personal lore interpretation and headcanons, but those I will establish in a separate post some time! For now, it's still not 100% figured out, so there will be plotholes and uncertainty ^^);;
Three Signals belongs to a group far away from the in-game location. Specifically, a group pretty close to, if not outright including, Sliver Of Straw. That group is not particularly well integrated, and most members prefer to keep it to themselves.
After first generation was built, an issue arose; due to a large distance in the South between them and another group, the communications were weak, the signals were getting lost over particularly tall mountains. To fix that, Three Signals was strategically placed to bridge the distance, equipped with advanced for the time satellite plate, additional cell towers etc, essentially becoming a cell tower of the group.
A very vocal Iterator who quickly proved their creativity and love for their people and arts, became a perfect breeding ground for artists to find shelter from a rather conservative group climate. Their citizens were eager to involve TS into everything they did, only further strengthening their bond. They enjoyed their cyclical life together so much so, that the idea of Ascension slowly grew to be something undesirable. That raised controversy and distaint in the group against TS and their city of "heretics".
At some point, the tension grew enough to cause action to be taken. Other cities demanded arrest of TS's leaders and most prominent figures. TS and their city resisted, resulting in overly drastic measures; the city was pressured into compliance by force. Cutting off delivery of supplies and eventually attacking TS themselves with a malware attack, to shake the people out of the perceived heresy. A traumatic event for everyone involved. TS struggled to freely speak ever since.
Time passed, and the day of Mass Ascension came. Many of TS's citizens were not thrilled, many were fearful, many reluctant, many cried and reached out to their beloved Iterator for comfort. TS did their very best to comfort them, using what their city loved most; song. They sang, they sang all together, the city slowly rumbling with thousand voices into a solemn roar, then grew quieter and quieter again, until the very last voice left to be heard was Three Signals alone. And then silence ever since.
More time passed. Sliver Of Straw sends out the Triple Affirmative broadcast-
But TS, being equipped specifically to pick up weak signals, has heard something else coming from her; distressed cries of pain, and then the Triple Affirmative. Essentially convincing TS that it was nothing but an erroneous cry of a dying Iterator.
Horrified by what they witnessed, TS was moved to do whatever they can to try and comfort their fellow Iterators, to try and avoid something like that happening again. And what other way could TS do it, other than broadcast comforting tunes? A sign that they're not alone, and something to hopefully offer an alternative to spiraling into madness.
Their broadcast is wide ranged, but not enforced, and they're not even sure if anyone is listening or not- if its even effective or not. But at the very least, they can say they tried something.

Glaggles were purposed organisms made to spread joy that the ancients made so that they could have a joyous occasion every single day. but eventually the glaggles were like "oh my God we're more than pets for the ancients so we're gonna break out and make our own society" so they left. and it was great for a while! But then the ancient started building iterators and it was like flooding the world and glaggleland kept getting flooded and then they were like "what the freak are you kidding me" so they Made their own iterator. It was it was great. They made the gigglerater and instead of a city on top there's glaggleland on top. amazing soo joyous we love the glaggles. yeah so then they were like hanging out and they were just they're having a great time having a very joyous occasion, but the ancients were like "oh my God the glaggles have a iterator that's crazy. They can't do that" they didint do anything about it though. They were like "whatever we're not gonna talk to the giggles the googles Yeah we're not talking to them because they're losers and we are cool" when mass ascension happened the ancients were like oh my God we're ascending the glaggles should ascend too so they like went to the glaggeland and they like forced a bunch of them to ascend and that's this world's version of the glaggeland massacre, not all of them acended because they hid or something. I guess there's glaggle echoes I don't know there's probably a glaggle echo somewhere. They were pretty sad cause a bunch of the glaggles ascended, but like now they're having a joyus occasion and they're hanging out and stuff now that the anicents are gone.
Ill be making more lore for them later thats just the backstory lalala

Okay I personally enjoy on-the-string iterators because I like the things ppl come up with to get around the isolation being an immobile building brings, not to mention I deadass don’t think their puppets have enough strength in their bodies to actually lift themselves if they aren’t in anti-grav. Them legs are NOT made for walkin. HOWEVER I do think off-the-string shit is still interesting. Like Moon canonically is off-the-string, but she’s still bound to her structure via the mechanical arm, which I feel like still gives her at least some awareness of the rest of her body. But losing all that? Compressing an entire iterator into the tiny, tiny doll at the heart of its structure? I can only imagine what kinda shit that does to them.
Tbh if iterators did figure out how to de-string themselves, it would be a massive sacrifice. I could honestly see some reacting to the idea the same way as they’d react to Sig and Pebbles’ whole plan in the rot au, like “wtf do you mean get out of your can, you ARE your can!” You’re basically chopping off your arm and asking it to continue moving. You’re losing a huge part of yourself, is it even you anymore? (Ironically, Rot Au Sig is very content being on-the-string, simply wanting freedom in the form of free will rather than mobility). Like, the toss up between touching grass vs keeping your memories, yeesh.
The other thing too: Moon’s structure continues to… “live” even once her puppet is ascended. The gravity fluctuations happen still, hell, pieces of Pebbles’ structure still produce heat and appear to be working (term used VERY loosely) despite the fact his puppet and consciousness are on the brink of death. So does that mean if you de-stringed an iterator, would their structure be a separate entity? Does the puppet just carry the personality and mannerisms, or does the processing strata have some say in it? Does an abandoned structure still iterate and ponder despite its communication organ being removed, leaving it silenced? I might just be completely shooting in the dark here, but it always left a bad feeling in my stomach when Pebbles and Moon were ascended and yet their structures still continued to act as they always had.
God iterators are fucked. Anyways! Off the string aus are based and cool but I wish people would lean into the whole “bro you basically lobotomized yourself” angle of it, at least a little. ALSO i feel like every so often they’d would freak the fuck out because OPEN AIR THIS IS NOT WHERE WE ARE MEANT TO BE— before the like, 7 neurons they carry around manage to process “oh, right, we’re fine.”

I feel almost bad for saying this, but I've seen a weird amount of people hc Bive as transmasc and it REALLY annoys me. I LOVE the fact that Bive is a girl. Like the significant majority of weirdo crazy insane off the hook characters are men and it's so nice to see her being a girl and breaking the norm of the girls being pleasant and put together, or if they're not then being the really "not like other girls" buff butch character.
And I am saying this as a girl, and a pretty non gender confirming one who often gets misgendered at that. I just genuinely want some of my favs to be my gender
And the fact that people hc Bive as a man out of any of the girl characters. Of COURSE you went with the masculine girl who often gets misgendered. I've NEVER seen a Split transmasc hc. Or Folly. Or Melanie. I could list characters for ages you get the point
