After El viewing young Billy and then young Max… I think something like this will probably happen.

“Where are you?” asked El, holding her hand up. Mrs. Wheeler quieted. They all did. “Can you tell me where you are?” For another horrible second, nothing. El’s face was still screwed up in concentration, and the connection almost looked painful to maintain. But then— “—don’t know—” Mike’s voice. Breaths hitching between the words. He sounded far away. He sounded scared. Then “—like Hawkins—but—upside down.” “Oh god,” whispered Jonathan, from their corner. And Max wondered if that’s when she knew, or if she’d known the second that Will told them Mike hadn’t been at school that day. Joyce let out a gasp. Mrs. Wheeler’s wild eyes had turned towards them.

Not to be controversial B U T. I think 3rd/2nd shift public buses should be a thing. If you work the graveyard or a 2nd shift with weird hours you deserve to be able to get home regardless if you have a car or not.

I also think that there needs to be (a) bus line(s) to and from the cities to the rural areas. Yes this also means “rural” as in those ‘southern gothic aesthetic’ rural areas.

People should not have to be locked in the cities or in rural areas, they should have the freedom to be able to move around. If you’re low income, older, disabled, or can’t afford a car (bc it’s car + insurance + gas $$) then you’re kind of stuck where you’re at and this is coming from real life experience.

mike & will sharing a single brain cell

Will couldn’t think about going back to school because like…what was the point? He’d been kidnapped. He’d run for his life in an alternate dimension of a small town in Indiana and nearly died. He could teleport to said alternate dimension and its Indiana counterpart, but only when he wasn’t trying and didn’t want to. Then he got possessed and nearly died again and like, eighth grade just didn’t seem particularly important. He knew all his mom wanted was for them to be normal. Life in Lenora wasn’t normal. But would it be any better in Hawkins?

chapter 13: will the weary

As the Upside Down bleeds into Hawkins, its citizens try to determine what comes next. Mike learns the value of friendship, Eleven comes face-to-face with her past, and Owens gets a bit more than he bargained for.

First of all, I love your Byler art so anything you’re inspired to draw is great and I’m excited to see it. However, since you asked for requests, I will say I’m a sucker for season 5 predictions of Possessed Will™️ Byler content and offer that as possible inspiration.

It’s not byler but this inspired me to do a possessed Will/season 5 postery thing! This is just the sketch but I’ll tag you when/if I post the final. Also thank you for loving my art and the ask!

After Will's possession, when the boys would have sleepovers, Mike would be the last one awake simply so he can stare at Will's slumbering face because it's one of the few times that his best friend looks peaceful. Its the quiet shadows of night, Dustin and Lucas are either snoring or kicking off the blankets cuz it's gotten too hot in the sleeping bags. Will is comfortable and he isn't twisting with nightmares or whimpering of relived horrific memories. Mike's entranced, eyes adjusting to the dark besides the little bit of moonlight seeping in through the basement window, just watching Will's face be soft instead of wary, fearful, annoyed, guilty, brief with splashes of respite before realizing its temporary.

So he watches Will with his mouth slack and a bit of spit dribbling out and pillow marks imprinting on his cheeks with his hair going to be a victim of bedhead in the morning and his limbs akimbo under the blanket with left foot sticking out - Mike takes the small moments in of when his best friend, 1st friend, Will Byers, is finally able to relax and get some rest. Mike makes sure he fall asleep last, yawning and drowsily staring until he has to pass out.

It is at age seventeen that Will Byers has his first kiss and he's glad he waited for the right person, the right time, because he gets to exchange breath with Mike in a hushed corner of the world. Private. Hesitant. Full of all the tenderness he heard about from all the surrounding couples who were bubbly with the warm affection Will had resigned himself never to receive. Folks like him don't get happy endings. Yet here he was, getting crowded in by Mike's fierce and tenacious movements that clung to Will in such a way he felt enlightened. He felt wanted and desired and enough for Mike Wheeler to shut up and kiss him.

It is at age seventeen that Mike decides to be a gambler. He tests his luck with sliding next to Will with personal space lessening each time. Closing the distance that grew between them both physically and emotionally. He's sharing his rations specifically with Will, volunteering to partner up with him during missions, and telling him secrets he's never told anyone else before. A sense of security stregthening every day they're together. He craves to take a chance, a risk, bet that Will could be his if Mike just took that leap. He sees it in the way Will stares, body leaning towards him a little more, and smile made just for Mike's eyes only. He's rambling for a second, for some minutes, for hours to pass the time as they're trapped waiting for the rescue team of Nancy and Jonathan to pick up their kid brothers when Will reaches out to touch the stinging scrape on Mike's cheek from his fall earlier. It's the care and gentleness and concern Will holds for him that has Mike shut up and kiss him.

thinking about the sort of haunted kinship between nancy and will. they always come out the most maladjusted in the group and only ever remember how to survive. they lost something. they grew up too fast. parts of them seem to have been lost to the upside down

nancy burns will with a hot poker and really, it shows what the upside down has done to both of them because it only happens because will is clawing his way through the horrors once more and nancy has sharpened herself enough to try and get it out of him violently

will clings to the tattered remains of his childhood and nancy burns the wreckage of her own

death breathes down both of their necks. they cant ever move on

Keep mocking my plan, Max. Keep mocking it. I wanna hear you say it again, because you keep doubting me. You keep doubting me! Ridiculous. Will? We’re gonna prove ‘em wrong, right?

oh how i absolutely YEARN for a scene where the core four (dustin, lucas, mike, will) are all together and comforting will after he has a ptsd episode or whatever else. and it's just. a very quiet moment of them resting their hands on will's shoulder or just hugging him close, saying that he's okay, that it's okay. not invalidating him, not saying he's weak. just being understanding because only they REALLY know the full extent of everything he's had to go through (from lonnie to the upside down) because they've been there since day 1. and it's just. a cute quiet moment of boys being best friends and comforting one of their own who is suffering a great deal, because that's what the party does - they show up for each other. and they love each other so, so much.
