A classic trope. A whumper running their fingers through whumpee’s hair. It is an extremely intimate gesture. The possibilities are endless.

Tw: noncon kiss, panic attacks

• Whumper is in the middle of carving their name into whumpee’s chest. Whumpee is completely bound, not able to move an inch. Whumper leans in way too close. They stare into whumpee’s eyes, so close whumpee can feel their breath. As they continue carving, they uses their free hand to run their fingers through whumpee’s hair.

• Whumper just finished cutting whumpee’s hair. They hadn’t had a haircut since they were taken. Whumper decided to trim it. Now, whumper is looking at the job they’ve done. They tilt whumpee’s head to the left and right. They reach out and card their fingers through their locks.

• Whumper grabs a fistful of whumpee’s hair and drags them across the room were the chains are. Whumper harshly yanks them towards the metal bonds. Once they are close to them, Whumper stops and runs their fingers through their hair, then brushing off the strands that had been pulled out.

• Caretaker is holding whumpee, who just had a massive freak out after seeing fire again. Caretaker rocks whumpee back and worth, whispering that everything fine. They reach up and sweep their fingers through whumpee’s hair. (Bonus points if that’s what whumper used to do, so whumpee freaks out all over again)

• Whumpee whimpers as whumper deepens the kiss. They can feel their lips pressed against whumper’s. They run a hand up their face and to their hair. It soon makes its way through whumpee’s messy locks as whumper begins forcing their tongue in whumpee’s mouth.

• Wouldn’t it be hard to run your fingers through whumpee’s hair when it’s got so much dried blood in it?

Whumpee being manhandled into restraints:

Shoved up against a wall and handcuffed.

Pinned to the floor and handcuffed.

Fighting for each limb as they’re forced down on a table, slowly secured by leather restraints.

Overwhelmed by multiple Whumpers, each one working to subdue them.

Yanked back by their hair so a collar or rope can easily be fitted around their throat.

Pinned while in combat (double points for being caged against a wall or trapped in a chokehold)

Improvised restraints like belts, sheets, or clothing when Whumpee won’t be still enough to retrieve proper ones.

Manhandled in a hospital bed, held down for the duration of a procedure.

Injected with a chemical restraint, a sedative or numbing agent that quickly bleeds the fight out of them.

Struggling as a muzzle is wrestled over their head and secured.

A blow to the head that knocks Whumpee out or makes them too dizzy to fight anyone off.

Altrenic flags

The term altrenic refers to the feeling or belief that one exists in an alternate universe or parallel reality, separate from the “usual” reality. This sensation may be influenced by factors such as kinning, alternate realities in fiction, or a sense of detachment from the present reality.

A sense of horror

One of my favorite tropes that I honestly think is pretty underrated is a loved one or an onlooker’s overwhelming sense of horror when they discover what has happened to a protagonist/MC.

Like.. a character stumbling in bleeding and broken—itheir loved one’s dread building and building as they unwrap the layers of mc’s clothing with shaking hands, only to find more and more and more blood— overwhelmed with panic and anguish when they discover just how deep the injuries go.

MC being brought home after a near-disastrous rescue mission, and the caretaker is finally able to get a good look at their injuries in proper lighting, and the horror hits them when they see deep, bloody gashes, whip marks crossing along their back, deep cuts and bruises in various stages of healing, a broken bone jutting out awkwardly at an angle it definitely shouldn’t be, and they’re just so overcome with revulsion and terror and heartache at what mc has had to endure. 

And that whole time, they had no idea. There was nothing they could do, but god they didn’t know it could get this bad. 

An onlooker, struck with a nauseating realization of how twisted some of their companions can be; the guilt of a bystander a weight that grows and grows, as they wrestle with dueling urges to help and to stay silent. (shoutout to @whumpsday for giving us another perfect example of this trope just yesterday)

Or even a villain/whumper, who agreed to participate in the cruelty, at some point down the line becoming too repulsed by the bloodthirst of their own comrades or fellow whumpers, suddenly unable to look anymore, wracked with guilt and disgust and thoughts of ‘god what have I done…’ 

A caretaker, rescuer, or even a new captor obtaining a whumpee who has been so conditioned by their past abuser that it makes their skin crawl. MC asking, begging to be punished at the slightest perceived mistake, or just bringing their new captor or guardian something to beat them with before falling to their knees. Anything that leaves them horrified, wondering ‘what the hell did they do to you’ yet also being too afraid to ask. The “are you my new master” trope may fall under this category and is also just immaculate. 

God I love this trope, whatever you call it.

Whump Prompts: Water Torture

Content: Suffocation, waterboarding, drowning, creepy/intimate whumper, tiny whumpee, dehydration, forced to hurt, impossible choice.

Waterboard them. Put a cloth over their face and tip a heap of water onto them before watching as they flail and choke.

A creepy/intimate whumper bathing with their whumpee or sitting on a stool beside the tub and just dunking their entire head underwater without giving them enough time to suck in a deep breath. Make sure they're terrified of bathing by the time they're done:)

A dehydrated whumpee asks for water? tie them down, put a o-ring gag into their mouth and start tipping water into their mouth without giving them enough space to drink it all. Watch as they inevitably choke and scramble for air, trying to turn away from the stream of water but being completely stuck until you decide to show them mercy.

String them up like a piece of meat and dunk them inside a pool or a tank.

Tie them up and toss their entire body into the pool. Just watch as their writhing body floats to the bottom, not realising that they're attached to a rope and can be pulled out at any time.

Making them swim laps around a pool with no way to get out and the floor being just deep enough that they can't reach it without their head falling under. Forcing them to constantly work to keep themselves above water.

Putting a tiny whumpee inside a jar filled with water and screwing the lid on so there's no escape.

If they can keep their head below water for a certain amount of time, they can receive a day without any torture. If they fail, Whumper gets to have hours upon hours of fun with no stop. Their deal involving breaks so Whumpee doesn't die is revoked in this instance. Does Whumper make it achievable for Whumpee? Do they just wanna see how far Whumpee's body can be pushed?

Tying TWO whumpees together with a rope around their waists and tossing them into a pool.

Giving whumpee the choice between waterboarding someone else or getting waterboarded themselves. Bonus points if it's a loved one.

Dunking their head in water and then causing so much pain that they can't help but scream, effectively running out of air almost immediately in the process.

Upsetting moments.

Doors slamming.

Doing dishes/cooking in a way that bangs the pots.

Blaring alarms.

Scissors a little too close during a haircut.

Whumpee breaking something or burning food - waiting for punishment.

The sound of a door locking.

Seeing actual pets around and hearing ‘good boy!’ ‘good girl!’ ‘good pup!’(etc)

Triggering phrases that mirror their old commands.

“That’s perfect.”

“Be good.”

“Sit.”

Ambiguously/potentially threatening phrases.

“What are you doing in here?”

“Where are you going?”

“I don’t think so.”

“Hm.”

“Do you think that’s a good idea?”

“I have some friends coming over.”

Abrupt transitions.

Waking them up abruptly / loudly.

Sudden changes in emotion.

Getting angry over small things.

Plan changes.

Things that might make them think Whumper is coming back?

Seeing a similar vehicle to Whumper’s.

Doorbells.

Unknown numbers calling.

Most importantly: Little comforts Whumper used to use as rewards.

Combing fingers through their hair.

Forehead kisses.

Holding their hand.

Cuddling.

Little treats (chocolates, etc).

Buying new outfits for them.

Being bathed/massaged.

Things a little too similar to pet stuff.

High collared shirts or short necklaces that feel like a collar.

Heat of a straightener/curling iron that reminds them of the brand.

Deep bowls/dishes that are similar to dog food bowls.
