When I first watched Puppet History, a show where Shane Madej sat behind a curtain hurling thinly veiled insults at Ryan Bergara via a hand shoved up a furry blue ballsack's ass while entertainingly delivering honestly interesting lessons on historical events, I did not expect to roll into Season 5 and be kicked in the crotch with the fact that they Magnus Archived me into a lore-filled horror ride that can only be described as "The Muppets Do Black Mirror."

listening to the magnus archives is so fun because there will be this character who has spent his whole life letting other people put him down and just going along with what they said for the fear of being unwanted but when faced with the literal concept of loneliness threatening to overtake him he says “no, no more. i was manipulating YOU.” to this god like creature and it’s such a powerful moment but you can’t take it seriously bc also there’s a man running through a hall somewhere going “MAHHTINNNNN” and also said god like creature is arguing with another god like creature (who is his (ex?) husband) over a fucking BET they made regarding who got to end the world and keep aforementioned character’s boyfriend

Watching the Chainsaw Man anime and experiencing the story again, it’s hitting me that Denji is just a good kid who had a shit life. He’s a teen who just needed to be given a chance. Despite how much he says he only saved Power to touch her boobs, it’s clear he saved her because he sympathizes with her struggle. She wanted to save Meowy no matter what, which is something Denji understands.

Not only that, but despite how rude and fowl-mouthed he is, Denji is weirdly considerate of others. He tells civilians in battle to run away. He’s trying his best to behave at Aki’s place. And I feel like all of it is summed up in this line:

He’s grew up in poverty, so he knows how important food is. How you should never waste it and how you should respect the people who make it possible to have. Denji is just a weirdo who needed a chance to actually grow up instead of fighting to survive.

The Professor: “Movies are like life, but not. (…) When it storms, you know the flashes? *nods* Yeah. Now imagine that, but if it told a story. Like if the lightning fell in love.”

That has to be one of the most beautiful ways to describe what a movie is, and it stood out to me in an episode already full of very beautiful moments.

Truly the funniest thing about puppet history is that it’s still educational. I DID learn what defenestration is! I learned all about Bessie Coleman and Victorian medicine and the Trung sisters! I also watched a grown man passionately fist fight a puppet being worn by his friend. It’s about balance.

this sequence really hit me in the feels

fully sobbing at this sequence. this was a wonderful break from the story, a little moment to recognize the beauty of life.

the professor really looked at the most beautiful sea of stars not yet diminished by light pollution, probably one of the most beautiful things a person (or puppet) can see, and went: ❤️beef boy❤️
