Hermit-A-Day May 6!! Mr Peace Love and Plants himself, Mumbo Jumbo!

I have never been good at drawing Mumbo. His moustache always messes me up, but after a whole page worth of sketches, I finally ended up with this. Had to include his greying hair and a little head sprout, hehe. I like to this that he works with red stone so much that it’s starting to tint his skin. Dusty patches of more red than pink. :)

Someone has probably already asked you this but do you have any tips on studying/understanding perspective? I keep trying to find resources to learn but none of them really stick or are actually useful

so I'm hoping that your issue isn't just figuring out the difference between 1-point, 2-point, and 3-point perspective and how it works, because there are tons and tons of resources available for that, and I'm guessing what people tend to get tripped up on is what you're supposed to be doing with your grid.

I'm definitely far from being an expert on understanding perspective, but I'll share some of the things that helped ME finally Get It.

Things like eye level and different camera angles can be a GREAT tool to use when doing a comic or storyboard between multiple characters of different heights!! I actually drew an example of this exact thing for a friend about a month ago (I used adventure time characters bc they're easy to draw and have a good height variety):

You can use camera angles like this to add variety to your shots, and even use it to help convey something emotional (using a down-shot on a character to show that they FEEL small, use an up-shot on a character to make them look more intimidating, etc etc)

OH MY GOD

I keep getting this urge to text people dumb things. Not dumb things, but apologies and such that I won't have actually thought through. I feel very bad for putting my roommates through so much shit, especially at the end of the semester. I have no idea what they think of me right now. 2/3 of them haven't bothered to send me so much as a message or even a post on insta. I'm very scared that they are upset with me.

My sister said that she thought one of them, the one who came to ask what was happening and to say we'd need to talk at some point, was just extremely worried about me when we saw them, but all I could see was disappointment and anger. Like they are disappointed in how I've turned out as a person and as a friend.

I think I'm a little fucked in the head.

Hermit-A-Day May number 3!! It’s Mr TangoTek!

I’ve never actually drawn Tango before but I have been meaning to do this was that final push I needed haha. His hair was a nightmare to get done - flames + pushed back style = I struggle - but I think I actually ended up with something I like in the end! I thought the red freckles might be fun too haha.

Hermit-A-Day May 4! My favourite alt hermit, Secret Life Scar!

Ignore how behind I am lol. Whether I ever actually catch up is a mystery. This one took me longer than I’m willing to admit. I’m very torn between both of Scar’s Secret Life skins for my favourite but it was also ridiculously hard to even pick an alt to draw. Anyway, hope this man is taking care of his sunflowers out there and maybe some other flowers too…

Love how the flowers turned out. Can you tell I’ve drawn lilacs and poppies a lot? Hehehe
