Damn! This is surprisingly heartwrenching. 

Liminal Space

Darth Malak deserved better - not just because you have no choice but to kill him in game (thank goodness for fanfic options!) but because the tragic fall is always more interesting than cartoonish evil.

And Alek of the KotOR comics is the perfect set up for the tragic fall.  Someone never quite sure of himself, someone too caught in the orbit of Revan’s brightness. Bound to burn out.

Here’s a bit of my take on Darth Malak, fighting against being Alek. Liminal Space on AO3 It was right there, Revan’s ship.  He’d expect it, of course, this betrayal, maybe even wanted Malak to try to give him an excuse to strike back.   Revan had been displeased with him again, seemed to always be these days.  Alek, we have much to discuss when I return, he’d said before he’d left, a slight threat in his cold monotone.  Alek.  When it was just the two of them, Revan insisted on the name still.  That hurt, a reminder of what should be, the thing they’d broken.   Revan was, of course, only Revan now. Revan hadn’t removed his mask that last time.  Even so, Malak had felt his eyes, watching, tracing the metal line of his jaw.  Do you like what you’ve made, Revan?  He’d brushed the edge of the mask, daring Revan to do something, anything, but he’d just stared, face hidden, and said nothing. Malak had decided then.  Hating stopped the hurting or at least made you forget. And hating made you strong.  Revan had tried to keep him from the Star Forge, Alek, you let it control you.  Lies.  He was jealous, Revan, jealous because the Star Forge spoke to Malak in ways it didn’t speak to him.  Malak could feel it pulsing in his veins, the rhythm of the crystal that fueled it, felt himself growing stronger the longer he stayed. He’d watched the battle from the bridge of his own ship, unable to contain his laughter, or rather that cruel mechanical sound that passed for his laugh, when the Jedi strike team had boarded Revan’s ship.  Truly the Force was with him, wanted him to win, wanted him to take out Revan and the Jedi all in one blow. Admiral Karath, fire on Lord Revan’s ship. Sir? Fire.  On the bridge.  I want no survivors. The explosion was beautiful, the flashes of light against the black of space.  If he’d had a mouth, Malak would have smiled.  He felt it, Revan’s death; didn’t feel like he’d expected, though, thought it would hurt, but it was barely a whimper. Later, when he was alone, Alek would blink back silent tears that knotted his throat, would wish he’d been on the bridge of the ship exploding in the emptiness of space.

I’m autistic, but I’m definitely reblogging, because by not hiring disabled actors, creators/producers/studios are contributing to the large amount of disabled people living in poverty. 

just to be clear, the fact that music was nominated for a golden globe is absolutely disgusting. every single (adult) involved in that gross, ableist movie should be sickened by themselves.

for those of you who don't know, music (2021) is a movie being directed by sia about a nonverable autistic girl. not only does it not include any actually autistic people in the movie itself but it also only took advice from autism speaks which is looked at as a hate group by the majority of the autistic community. leaked scenes have also shown the movie glorifying prone restraints which are incredibly dangerous and have resulted in major injuries and even death to disabled people as recently as last year.

autistic people just like me have been incredibly outspoken about how harmful this movie is but the allistic have been mostly silent. we are already seeing reviews calling this movie 'inspiring' and important' and it's absolutely horrific! we need your help calling this out. please stand with us and call out this disgusting display of disrespect to autistic folks.

Bao-Dur is an awesome underrated character. 

bao dur fun facts

- disabled veteran who is still wracked with guilt from his actions in the war - volunteer eco-vigilante working against a major, corrupt corporation to help an oppressed species save their planet, until mercenaries forced him into hiding - prefers droids to people because they’re easier to understand - followed around by a floating little droid he build as a child - exile: “can you build me one?” bao-dur: “i would, but then i wouldn’t be the only one with a floating sphere following him around and i kind of like that” - fluent in five languages: zabraki, ithorese, basic, bocce and binary - his talents in engineering rival the best echani shield smiths, he built himself an arm, also one of the lost jedi but still says ‘i’m just a tech’ - breaks through shields and force fields just by punching them. literally canon that bao-dur is the best at punching things - exile: “how’d you lose your arm, anyways?” bao-dur: “i got tired of it- kept dropping my hydrospanner. figured i’d get a new one” - “i’m trying to work here, atton” - probably the reason why he can’t equip jedi robes is bc he’s too buff and would probably just tear them apart by flexing - “if it wasn’t for me, we’d all be floating in space”

He apparently was looking into ending ancient rome’s reliance on chattel slavery via gradual emancipation, and he opposed the death penalty. 

just a casual mention for this day of march 15 that julius casar was killed because his actions threatened the aristocracy. in fact most of the working classes liked having caesar lead because he worked against rome being a shithole and he made mostly successful efforts to end unemployment. also in his will he left stuff to the people? idk about that last part feel free to fact check it

tldr; it was the aristocracy that had an issue with caesar and the main reason the senate killed him was because they were afraid his power would result in a more even distribution of their wealth

This is one of the earliest depictions of the Buddha in human form. Gandharan artists were familiar with Greek and Roman art from military expeditions, diplomacy, and trade. This Buddha’s unique halo is reminiscent of depictions of the god Helios in Greek and Sol in Roman art. The drape of the tunic echoes Hellenistic and Roman garments, as well as depictions of the Iranian god Mithra, and the Roman god Mithras.
