So, when I wrote The Different Types of Intelligence the Hacketteers Would Have, I mentioned how I believe that Nick would be a massive booknerd and have high linguistic intelligence. Today, I thought I would fangirl some more over a fellow Aussie and expand upon some of my headcanons for him. Some of these are based off of my own experience as an avid reader, however, I have tried to mostly just include what I believe he would enjoy reading based off his character.
So let’s get into the nerding out!

Dylan: so do you have a girlfriend?
Ryan: um, not exactly
Dylan: Boyfriend??!!!
So I couldn't stop thinking about how Dear Evan Hansen would have gone if Evan had told the truth from the get-go. Would the story be that different? I would say no.
So I decided to write a fake wikipedia summary for my in-progress fanfic of "Dear Evan Hansen - Rewritten."
Original sources are:

I just want to remind you all that Vegemite chocolate was a thing in Australia in 2015 and holy shit did this circulate in my high school despite how disgustang it was
Which means that Nick probably would have tried it. Do you ever think he brings it up with the Hacketteers?

Dylan: You might wanna slow down.
Nick: *eating a brownie* It's cool! I have a high metabolism.
Dylan: Those are edibles-
Nick: I know. That's why I'm eating them.
Dylan: They're full of cannabis...
Nick: *pause* All of them?
Dylan: How many did you just eat?
Nick: *panting* 10?! 12?
Dylan: Oh. My God! THAT amount with your body weight?? ...You're fine. It's fine.
Nick: THEN WHY ARE YOU MAKING THAT FACE?!
Nick probably as Abi and Kaitlyn were helping him into the lodge:
Ok very much like when Patroclus died, I very much like Achilles will have a mental breakdown thank you very much(also the analysis is really great)
Hamilton was Achilles or Patroclus for you?
Achilles, I suppose. Because Patroclus already has many parallels to Laurens; like the issues with his father, and he acts as Achilles emotional support in the Iliad. But also the matching aspect of Patroclus dying in battle and Achilles' mental breakdown afterwards.
Also the pipeline of Achilles being compared to Alexander the great, and Hamilton being compared to Alexander the great.
Dylan: Whatever. There's nothing to do, it's like... too old to trick or treat... and too young to die.
Okay hear me out:
Nick and Jacob are both deeply insecure. But I think that Nick fears that he's not enough-- not cool enough, not funny enough, not charming enough, not manly enough-- while Jacob fears that he's too much-- too stupid, too emotional, too needy.
But they both try to cope by pushing away that part of themselves. Nick has the tendency to go along with what the others want. He'll copy Jacob and Dylan, let them push him into things he might otherwise be uncomfortable with, act in ways he thinks they would ("hey, do me!") because they're his model of cool. Meanwhile, Jacob acts overconfident. He's insensitive, he's crass, he's mean ("one of Ryan's stupid podcasts"), he acts like he doesn't have a care in the world. And both of them are willing to open up about their vulnerabilities to the people they have feelings for, if they're able to get over the insecurities first.
I think that's why they butt heads at times. They're two sides of the same coin.
