one of the worst things about being a writer is when you have to sit on your hands about a REALLY COOL SPOILER. and you just want everyone to know about the really cool spoiler you want them to know so so so badly but the best way for them to learn it would be to experience it and you also want them to do THAT so you’re just sitting on your hands vibrating and making a low whine while your dog looks at you with concern. and then your friends go “what’s wrong”. and you go PLEASE I NEED TO TELL YOU. and they go “oh okay so tell me”. and you go NO,

This may be a hot take, but personally I don't see too much of a problem for underage people writing smut. I mean I get that it can get people groomed and whatnot, but other than that I genuinely don't see it being a big issue. Words are words in my opinion, and either way it's not going to get you rightfully arrested, or even in legal trouble if you do. It's not like real life underage sex. You won't just read a hardcover with smut and go out hunting for the author, will you? I don't know. I personally don't write it because I'm uncomfortable with making it, but that's my general thought about it. Please don't attack me for this, I just felt like typing my stance on it since there's been a lot of thoughts I have on it lately 😭

reasons to write fanfiction (I'll start):

share a cool scene that popped into your head

evoke a particular emotion the canon makes you feel

song made you think of a character or idea from canon

make people feel the same way about a character you do

make dolls kiss for fun

explore ideas the canon hints at but doesn't do anything with

traumatize characters and make them suffer

coddle characters and let them rest

had an insane idea for a crack ship and now everyone needs to know

the author of the canon was wrong and must be fixed

use familiar characters to explore your own ideas and plotlines

canon is too short and you need to wallow in the universe of the story
