He was raised by Commandant Brendol Hux, who mentally and physically abused and manipulated Armitage all his life, giving Armitage no choice but to find joy in controlling and manipulating others the same way his father did to him. He spent his whole life in the First Order and has therefore never known any other way of life, and that, coupled with his father’s abuse, has turned him into a ruthless monster hell-bent on destroying what he believes to be a group of terrorists - the Resistance - even if this means he must order the genocide of entire planets. This character is one that you’re not supposed to be a fan of or vouch for, but one you can at least understand and feel an ounce of pity for.
