LucasFilm: This is General Armitage Hux of the First Order. He was raised by Commandant Brendol Hux, who mentally and physically abused and manipulated Armitage all his life, giving Armitage no choice but to find joy in controlling and manipulating others the same way his father did to him. He spent his whole life in the First Order and has therefore never known any other way of life, and that, coupled with his father’s abuse, has turned him into a ruthless monster hell-bent on destroying what he believes to be a group of terrorists - the Resistance - even if this means he must order the genocide of entire planets. This character is one that you’re not supposed to be a fan of or vouch for, but one you can at least understand and feel an ounce of pity for.

casual reminder that grandmaster:

flirted with loki and let it go when loki didn’t appreciate it

made sure valkerie/brunnhilde knew that he didn’t think she was trash and corrected topaz openly for saying as much

made sure valkerie/brunnhilde got an award worthy of the work she’s done

refused to use the melting stick on loki for simply interrupting him, acknowledging it was overkill and said as much

let thor stay with hulk for reasons I don’t understand and didn’t make him fight again (yes, out of secrecy, but still)

valkerie was absolutely willing to stay on sakaar and work for grandmaster, even if it was because she was running away from her past

didn’t kill valkerie and loki outright when his most precious fighters escaped and even gave them the chance to bring him back

seriously, this guy has (in the comics at least) telepathy

regardless of what powers he has in the movie, he’s 13.7 billion years old he’s smarter and more powerful than you might think

if he does have literally any powers from the comics aside from his immortality, he can smoke pretty much anyone who’s not thanos, but doesn’t because he doesn’t really like physical confrontation (other people fighting is another thing)

aside from his fighters/slaves, his people (to me, at least) looked pretty happy? idk, cheering and roaring in the stands, parades in the street, etc. could just be me being biased.

yes, he’s a dick and has slaves and is more of a villain than anything, but what im trying to say is I don’t think he’s such the predator/rapist that y'all make him out to be. people can be fucking assholes and not be sexual predators. that’s a concept that exists.
