okay but there is something disquieting about this urge to cast fan writers as altruists. they give us all this for free!! well, no.
they’re sharing
it’s a key difference in perception. fic isn’t given. it’s shared. it’s part of a fandom community— in which readers are also an integral part.
it’s probably inevitable mission creep from the increasingly transactional nature of the internet and fandom-as-consumerism, which was always gonna happen after corps worked out how much bank there is to make from those weirdo fan people
but like. fandom is sharing. i think we’ve lost that somewhere.
people who don't experience hyperfixation don't know what it feels like to hyperfixate so much on something that it becomes not only your subject of obsession but also your source of happiness and literally the main reason why you still keep going; literal source of strength and life.
shoutout to my favorite fictional characters, favorite people, favorite ships, favorite movies, favorite tv shows, fanfics and archive of our own
Having multiple of hobbies SUCK BRO.
Why can't I do all of them at once?? Why can't I draw Th Thing, but also write my story, while ALSO playing my video game WHILE ALSO reading my book??? While ALSO prepping for my homebrew D&D campaign?!
It's rude. Where's Hermonie's Time Turner when you need it.
I LOVE MY FRIENDS SO MUCH I'M JUST STUPID AND FORGET THAT FEELINGS NEED TO BE EXPRESSED IN ORDER FOR THEM TO BE FELT
Guys?
Me on tumblr.
Just realized I can make my own posts... I'm coming here from Pinterest, and I'm used to just reading stuff, but I can actually... you know, say things.
This is the fucking reason for my disorder
I gotta be honest, I don't understand why any video game would ever include licensed music. What is the benefit? Why wouldn't you just make new original songs for the game?
"Oh that's expensive" SO IS PAYING A LICENSE FOR A RL POP SONG?? And it's a much better longterm investment since you can sell an OST that way, the license won't ever expire and impact your ability to rerelease the game, it doesn't negatively impact streamers who are basically your marketing. Why use licensed music instead of original songs?
