octavinelle reaction to hurt y/n
Y/n held her breath as a group of bullies ran past her once they where gone y/n released the breath she was holding with a soft sniffle she slowly limped through the water based portal of Octavinelle. As y/n made her way to mostro lounge she started to black out. Once she got to the entrance she leaned against the door frame as her left arm held her right side tears falling from her e/cs. No one was in sight y/n took a beep breath then yelled
"GUYS!" As loudly as her wore out lungs would let her before slumping forward. Before she could hit the cold floor a someone grabbed ahold of her and picked her up it was Flyod with his twin and boss beside him looking down at the badly beaten girl. "Shrimpy what happened?!" Flyod asked holding the small girl in his arms before she could reply she blacked out.
Later ~
When y/n came to she woke up to jade wrapping up her arm in bandages. "Jade.." she started making him look up from her arm "Oh y/n my little mushroom your finally awake!" Jade said gently putting his hand on the back of her head and pressed his lips to her forehead when he pulled away his eyes grew dim "I am going to get Azul and Flyod and you will tell us how you ended up like this understand?" Jade spoke he just like his brother could be very scary when pushed to the limit. Y/n nodded as she relaxed into his gloved large hand. Jade smiled before leaving y/ns bed side and walking out the door to find his brother and boss. Soon the door flung open reviling Flyod "Shrimpy!" He yelled and he jumped on the bed and gently cradled y/ns face. "Tell me who did this to you! I promise their squeeze won't be nice" Flyod's face went dark as he said that. Y/n nervously looked up at the large eel. "Flyod y-your hurting m-me" y/n whispered as Flyod squeezed her cheeks Flyod let go of her face before shoving his face into her chest. Y/n could see Azul standing beside her bed now. He didn't look happy "y/n my angelfish" he started y/n looked down. "Tell us who did this to you." He growled Flyod tightened his hold around her waist. Jade stood by Azul as y/n told them who the bullies where. She may not know their names but she explained them the best she could plus Jade said he could ask around for more information. Flyod growled from y/ns chest "I'll kill them" he growled "Flyod no" y/n said looking down at him before she gently patted his head "But they hurt you y/n!" All three of them yelled y/n shook her head "No killing! You'll get expelled! And I don't want y'all to be expelled" y/n pouted at the three mermen. All three groaned but agreed, "fine no killing but they'll be squeezed tightly" Flyod said sitting up " let's go boys we have some deals to take care of" Azul said as the twins nodded "y/n shouldn't be left alone" Jade said looking at the girl "I'll stay then" Azul said as Flyod got up. Azul sat beside the bed "can you boys do this without me?" Azul as the twins who smiled. "We'll be back soon" Jade said as he and his brother left. Y/n looked over at Azul who was taking off his shoes, hat, and jacket with papers in his hands he gave the Move over motion "Move over angelfish I have work to do but I'm not leaving you" Azul said as he crawled into the bed with y/n. Soon Azul started to sing slightly, As Azul looked through some contracts y/n fell asleep on his side.
With the twins~
"Did you see how that pathetic human run away like a rabbit?" Bully one laughed
"Yeah it was a fun chase but she ran off and hid" bully two replied
"Oh she won't get away next time" bully three added as the group laughed
"Oh there won't be a next time matter a fact there will never be a next time" two voices came making the bullies look around
The bullies froze as they saw the twins
"You hurt my shrimpy..." Flyod growled
"You hurt someone dear to us, and we just want to talk" Jade smiled as he cracked his knuckles as the 6ft twins backed the group of bullies into a corner.
Later~
When the leech twins came back they took separate showers and threw their clothes in the wash before cuddling y/n and Azul. No one hurts their little pearl and gets away with it.

Fufufu, posting this a little late in the day (at least where I am) but happy Easter! I hope you had a fun day, packed full of fun activities like egg hunting! Or, if you’re anything like me and didn’t do anything, then, I hope you had a nice day!
Additionally, happy birthday to Vil! Always and forevermore the prettiest one of them all! Hope you enjoy! No spoilers or warnings for now but this might change in future installments :)
"Grim, can you even eat chocolate?" You ask skeptically.
"Yes, henchman. I'm not a cat dazo." Grim rolls his eyes, reaching for another egg. You swat his paw away. "Okay, I'm just making sure." You frown. It's a total lie. You just wanted the chocolate eggs to yourself.
"Ding dong!"
"Henchman, the doorbell's ringing dazo! Go shut it up, go!" Grim shouts, eagerly inching closer to the chocolate eggs. "Fine! Just don't- I see that!" You glare at him as you put down the bowl.
Wait, we don't have a doorbell. The thought only crosses your mind as you walk toward the door. You cautiously open it. There's a box in front of you. For some reason, you're relieved it's not a letter. Though, attached to the box is a little card.
Hey, little demon! We got a new shipment of lovely chocolate eggs just in time for Easter. My friends on the other side suggested sending over a package to you, for your continued patronage at Mr. S's Mystery Shop! Remember, we've got almost everything IN STOCK!
Happy Easter!
You blink. You reach down for the box and bring it inside. Unsurprisingly, Grim is caught in the middle of shoving another chocolate egg down his throat. He gulps.
"Don't blame me if you start vomiting and peeing all over the place." You huff, tucking the box under your arms. "Fygaa! I told you, I'm no cat dazo!" Grim insists. "Sure, sure. Since you had all of those, then this box is all mine!" You smirk and watch as his jaw drops, drool almost forming at his mouth.
"Wha-! I want them too dazo!" He gets up immediately, rushing over to your legs and standing. "Nope, they're all for me. Too bad, too sad." You grin wickedly, you open the box and pop a chocolate egg into your mouth.
It happens too fast.
Poof!
A cloud of smoke later, everything overwhelms you. "F-Fygaaa!? Henchman!?" Grim's voice is extremely loud and it's…great sevens. You look up, a gigantic Grim towers over you, looking just as shocked.
What you're even more surprised at is the face that looks back at you in the reflection of Grim's wide blue eyes. A terrified, fluffy bunny. A loud scream erupts from your throat.
I might post this on Ao3? Not sure. I’ll be releasing individual dorm parts (and then maybe individual short headcanons for the boys) as we go! If you see it posted anywhere or by anyone else, it's not me.
Hey there! I loved giving Malleus a stone as an accidental proposal! It would make sense to me that mers would also see it as that! Could we possibly get one with Floyd Azul or Jade?
omg yes absolutely! Thinking about it, merfolk probably would also take it as a proposal! Especially with their culture being inspired by The little mermaid and she loved to collect things. I love this request! For those of you who haven't seen the Malleus part, it's linked below!

Accidentally proposing to Malleus with a rock
Floyd:
It was an innocent gesture. You wanted to give Floyd a rock to show you care about him. A simple gift that you thought he'd like. Well, you think he likes it a little too much.
When you gave the rock to Floyd, his eyes went wide, and he quickly smiled and pulled you into a tight hug (careful not to hurt you too much), "Awwww of course!"
He seemed so happy to get the rock, it honestly surprised you. Then he started lurking around you more. Like, hovering behind you and picking you up at random times to carry you around anywhere. When you asked, he said he had a right to carry and lurk now.
You also caught Jade snickering more than usual at you and Floyd, like he knew something you didn't. But both him and Floyd didn't elaborate. Instead, Floyd laughed and wrapped his arms around you, setting his head atop yours, "Silly silly~"
It wasn't until later when you visited the Mostro Lounge's VIP room that you got a hint of what was happening. Normally you'd just go there to hang out, but you'd noticed Azul was unusually frustrated today. When he saw you, it only seemed to set him off on a rant as he paced about the room.
"I can't believe this. Of all the things you could've given, and to all the people...I can't even begin to imagine what's going through your mind. You must be as impulsive as him to do this and with such short notice! Now he wants to use the whole lounge for a day and dumps all these things to prepare on me. Could you not have waited until I've graduated at least so I wouldn't have to put of with this? You two could at least help me instead of leaving me to figure out how to cater for an entire wedding without giving me any specifics-"
At this point, you kind of zoned out because you were stuck on the whole "wedding" part. What?
As Azul paced around the room and ranted, without you fully listening, your mind was working to put together the pieces. He clearly was blaming you for something, and impulsivity could only mean Floyd was involved. That, and he mentioned giving him something...
Oh no...
Right on time, Floyd had strolled into the room, completely interrupting Azul's rant. But the second his eyes landed on you, his expression lit up and he'd made his way over to you. His arms quickly wrapped around you and he basically leaned all of his weight on you as he cheered, "There you are. I've been looking all over for you. What're you doing here with Azul?"
Hesitantly, you had to ask, "Floyd, what's going on?"
Tilting his head, he rested his cheek on top of your head and hummed in amusement, "Ah. Azul's just jealous of us. Getting married while he's stuck talking all business and contracts."
You're what? Did you hear that right?
Before you could ask anything else or try and explain anything, he'd picked you up again, and started walking out of the room with you. A very frustrated Azul calling out to you two, "At least give me something!"
Only for Floyd to wave a hand dismissively as he carried you out, "Nah. You got this. We're busy."
Something told you he wasn't going to let you just back out or call it a friendship rock...
Jade:
You like to think you know Jade pretty well. You've spent a lot of time together, so you thought it'd be a great idea to give him a little gift. So when you found this nice smooth and pretty rock, you knew it'd be the perfect gift for him. It's even practical since he can put it in one of his terrariums!
He even seemed happy when you gave it to him, after brief shock of course, and he had that sharp-toothed smile you knew well.
"Well well, I must say I never expected you to be so bold to give me something like this, but I accept."
That was all he said. You weren't really sure why it'd require boldness, but he didn't elaborate and instead brushed it off and quickly left saying he had work to do.
The day carried on as normal until you saw Floyd. He ran up to you and swung you around, "There you areee~ Welcome to the family! Ma's gonna love ya!"
Disoriented, dizzy, and confused, you had to ask, "Floyd? What are you talking about?"
He swung you around once more before finally setting you down, "Ah, you know. Proposing to Jade like that? Real brave of you."
Huh? Proposing?
But in a true Floyd fashion, he just ginned and waved goodbye as he scurried off, leaving you with many questions. The only way you'd probably get answers is to ask the man himself. So, you quickly made your way to the Mostro Lounge.
There, Jade was setting up some tables, as composed and collected as ever. Seeing you, he straightened up with that same sharp-toothed smile as earlier, and welcomed you, "Good, you're here dear. We have a small dinner to celebrate our engagement before we can begin making preparations."
Stunned by the wildness of it all, you tried to nervously correct him, "Jade, I feel like there might've been a slight misunderstanding-"
"Nonsense," He began, stepping closer and wrapping an arm around you, "It's common knowledge that gifting a special rock is a marriage proposal among merfolk. You're mine now, dear."
Azul:
Azul and you are really close. There was no denying it when you spent so much time at the Mostro Lounge VIP room just hanging out with him. So you thought you’d do something nice for him and get him a little gift.
Then there was this perfect rock you found. It was smooth and round with specks of blue and purple, perfect for Azul.
You didn’t expect him to act so…odd when you have it to him. You held it out in your hand towards him, and he just stared at you in shock. His face turned about as red as Riddle’s hair, and you could tell he was struggling to speak. If Jade and Floyd were here, they’d no doubt tease him for the look on his face.
After a few moments of stunned silence (you figured it was best to just be patient and wait for him to collect himself), he took the rock with slightly shaky hands. He held the rock close to him, over his heart, and took a deep breath. Then, he cleared his throat, and tried his best to answer, “I…wasn’t aware you felt so strongly, but it’s clear now. Don’t you worry, I can handle this. I’m…delighted to receive this.”
Not thinking much of his words, you simply smiled at him. It wasn’t uncommon for Azul to get a bit flustered by small gestures. He wasn’t treated well as a child, so you know little shows of appreciation mean a lot to him.
He scurried off with the rock to his office moments later, and there was silence for a moment before you heard him sputtering on the other side of the door. He probably would be embarrassed if you listened in though, and you wanted to spare him (this time).
The day went on as usual for a while. Classes went by, you spoke to some other friends, and went to visit the Mostro Lounge again later.
But the Lounge was…busier than normal. Students who worked there were scrambling about trying to serve customers and clean and adjust the smallest of details on things. Several of them looked super stressed, and some looked like they were about to pass out. Jade and Floyd, were the only calm ones who stood off to the side, watching them all with amused smiles.
You went up to them to ask what was happening, but Floyd spoke before you could, “Can ya let Azul flounder a bit longer? This is fun to watch.”
Azul was floundering? But he’s usually so calm and collected when he’s working. He couldn’t still be flustered from your gift earlier, right?
“What’s going on with Azul?”
Jade chuckled and was the one to answer you, “You sent him on quite the spiral. He’s got everyone working overtime to make sure everything is perfect for you.”
Now more confused, you had to ask, “Me? What did I do?”
At that, the duo only laughed more, clearly knowing something you don’t, but refusing to elaborate at you and everyone else’s expense. There was only one way you were going to get an answer; from Azul himself.
Marching past the two, you made your way to Azul’s office, barely knocking before going in.
And boy was he startled. The second you entered the room he sat up straighter and his cheeks turned pink, but he quickly tried to hide it behind his hand and muttered, “Ah, you’re here. My apologies, I’m still working on the contract right now.”
Walking up to his desk in complete confusion, you asked, “What contract? What’s going on?”
There was a moment of silence throughout the room. His gloved hands fidgeted with the pen and papers on his desk in front of him, trying to figure out the right words to say.
Then, he slid the paper over to you for you to read. Well, you only read the top before sitting stunned.
‘Contract of Marriage’
Huh???
Now it was your turn to be stunned into silence. So, he filled the silence, “I…was quite surprised by your gesture earlier, but I accept. If you’ll have me, I’d love for you to sign this. It’s quite possibly the best contract I’ve ever written.”
Summary: He felt pathetic. He was sitting on the floor trying not to hyperventilate, desperately bitting back tears and gripping on the edges of his dignity. Azul was pathetic, and he was not enough for you.
Notes: gn!reader, unrequited love, angst, hurt no comfort, yes I like to make Azul suffer, some self deprecating thoughts too, oh the pains of unreciprocated love
It all started when you entered the board games club.
Azul would forever curse that day, the day you entered in his life and changed it forever. He'd curse and cry to whatever cruel entity watching over him for ever putting you in his path like that. But, at the same time, should he have been given the chance, he wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. Even if he had to re-do it all over, the one thing he would never change would be that day, the day the sun shined on him for a few moments and took his breath away.
It might be a foolish, sentimental feeling, something he was not used to, so out of character for him. But he couldn't bear to imagine how different his life would be without that day on it, committed to his memory, imprinted on his soul.
You were new and bright and warm, so different from everyone else he's ever met, be it from the land or from the sea. It must be because you weren't from Twisted Wonderland at all, but from a whole another world. Azul has never and will never meet anyone like you. He's not sure if that's a good or a bad thing, it simply is the truth.
Idia had decided to not go on that day, something or other about an important event he couldn't miss on one of his online games. The club didn't have anyone else besides them, so Azul would have skipped as well should he have been warned sooner. As he was already at the reserved classroom, he saw no point in moving, taking it as a break from work. He spread himself at the teacher's chair, feet coming up to rest at the desk, undoing some of his blazer's buttons and taking his hat off, messing his hair with his hands. He put his arms behind his head and let out a heavy sigh, closing his eyes in fatigue, glasses sliding down his nose.
When the door opened, taking him by surprise, Azul was not prepared to greet you. He was not the image he presents to the public, not a refined businessman, not the top student of his grade, not Octavinelle's feared housewarden. No, he was simply Azul, such a vulnerable side to show as a first impression, no masks or pretentiousness.
You entered, both in the classroom and in his life, a little shy at first, eyes scanning the room before landing on his form, as he fumbled to recompose himself on the teacher's chair. If it were anyone else, he'd have been mortified and expected teasing at best, blackmail at worst. You did none, surprising him even more. You only smiled, brighter than a pearl, and asked him if that was the board game club room, so innocently, not batting an eye at his ruffled state.
He cleared his throat and tried to appear professional, even if he knew it wouldn't matter much for you anymore, but for his own comfort. You took a chair and put right in front of his desk, excitedly telling him you'd like to join.
The next hour could be described as casual for most people, but Azul wasn't most people and he did not do casual. When you spent a whole hour playing chess with him, listening to him as he talked about the club and, eventually, about Night Raven College itself, your full attention on him and only him, Azul felt like he never had before.
There was something about you. Something that made Azul's tongue roll on itself when he wanted to speak, something that made his heart beat concerningly faster, something that made his hands clammy and shaky when they moved his pieces, something that made his cheeks feel warmer around you.
And oh, you were beautiful. Radiant, even, with a smile of gold and warm eyes. You must have been a siren, for your voice fished his heart so easily, made him feel like he was floating on the calmer waves, the salty scent that felt so much like home lulling him into a sense of security. Azul wanted you to keep making him feel like that, he wanted to keep hearing your voice and keep looking into your eyes, he wanted the electrifying touch of your skin as your hands would accidently touch his, he wanted the comfort of your knees resting against each other.
It was not love, of that he was certain, since he had only just met you. Azul was not sentimental, that wasn't what this was about at all. Perhaps it was more like... infatuation. Perhaps Azul simply wanted to chase the feeling of being wanted for who he is, without pretenses or his usual barriers. Perhaps he liked the feeling of being on top of the world, something only you could provide him.
No matter. It was not love and Azul would not go after you. In fact, he would make sure to keep his distance, least those troublesome feelings get stronger.
And stronger they did get, because he couldn't avoid you. Your alluring song always brought him back to you, like a sailor infatuated with the sea's wonders, he'd always go back. There was no way to avoid you, not when you came back the next week for the club meeting, and the next, and the next, and the next. There was no way to avoid you, not when you were so kind to him, not when you treated him so different from what he was used to, not when you took his cunning side in stride and didn't get scared of him, didn't try to distance yourself. (Not when you treated him so much like a person, an equal, someone worth of your time). There was no way to avoid you, not when you would send him text messages to take care of himself and check on him at late hours to tell him to stop working and take a break, not when you would visit him at Mostro Lounge and invite him to sit with you at a table to simply spend time together.
There was no way to resist you, Azul was but a fish caught in your hook, completly at your mercy. You either didn't notice or didn't care, content with the way things were. But Azul did, he noticed and he wanted and he ached. There was a hole in his heart, molded perfectly for you to fit right in. It would be so easy for you slide to his side and click, fitting like puzzle pieces. Azul could accommodate to your needs, he could change the way he did things to spend more time with you, he could use his hard earned money to buy whatever you wanted, he could praise you for how long you wanted him to, never running out of things to say.
But here's the thing: Azul was not enough. You were content with being his friend, and only that. No money or praise would be able to change your mind, because Azul himself was not enough, never enough.
You deserved someone nicer, someone who would take good care of you, someone that could spend time with you and protect you and think of you above everything else. Someone that could give you the world. Someone that wasn't Azul.
It happened like this:
The little booth at the corner of the restaurant was warm. Not because that's how the air conditioner had set it to be, but because you were there with him. The chill of the undersea atmosphere couldn't reach the little world the two of you shared. He listened to you as you spoke about your day, what mischief your friends had gotten into and the new book you had been studying.
It happened like this:
There was something on your mind, Azul could tell. There was some restlessness in you, your eyes would wander around the lounge every once in a while, as if looking for something (or someone), your hands were agitated in their moviments, you were more thirsty than usual, you would derail your line of thought and get lost in your head for a few seconds, as if considering something before discarting it, or perhaps as if gathering up your courage to say something.
It happened like this:
Worried you were hurt or having trouble with someone, Azul gently asked what was on your mind. He saw your hesitation before you sighed, but you trusted him. Other people would know better than to open themselves up to the Octavinelle housewarden and give him any information for him to leverage, but you trusted him. Azul would do his best to help, even as a pit grew in his stomach and his senses screamed at him that something was wrong, because you trusted him, and he would never break that precious trust.
His heart cracked like this:
You confessed shyly, a little smile playing at the corner of your lips and your eyes avoiding his, gazing into the distance as if looking at someone else. Your fingers danced with each other and your head tilted to the side as you sighed, so full of emotion. It was an endearing scene, anyone would be lucky to get to see that lovesick expression in your face. Azul didn't feel lucky. No, in fact, he felt very unlucky. In another situation, he'd have given anything to hear you say those things, to have the chance of seeing you like that, flustered and giddy.
But here's the thing: Azul is not enough. Because it's not him you're thinking about when your lips curl like that, it's not him you're thinking about when your eyes soften like that, it's not him you're thinking about when your heart beats faster.
And there's nothing Azul can do against it, because you weren't in love with some complete random person, so far from him he couldn't even recognize their name. It might have been easier to take, should that have been the case. No, you had fallen for the closest possible person next to him, his vice housewarden. Jade Leech was the one in your mind as you ate besides Azul.
His heart broke like this:
The little booth wasn't warm anymore. It was impossibly cold, colder than his home under the sea. The chill settled on his bones, made a home on his lungs as his chest caved in. Your little bubble had burst, the world was no longer only shared between yourselves. Azul felt his heart dropping, he felt like throwing up. His hands shook and he stared and stared and stared. You had never looked so beautiful and so far away. You were glowing, but it wasn't at him.
He could only stare as you talked in rushed whispers, not wanting to let the truth out, not wanting anyone to overhear. He could only stare as you jumped in surprise and flushed as Jade suddenly appeared by your side to check if you wanted to order anything else. He could only stare as Jade smiled softly and teased you, you bantering right back at him, so full of affection and so naturally that the two of you just... clicked.
Azul hurriedly excused himself, murmuring an unconvincing excuse to leave the two of you alone and far away from him. He locked himself in his office and slid down the door, biting his lips and pressing the back of his palm to his eyelids, trying to rein his tears in.
He felt pathetic. He was sitting on the floor trying not to hyperventilate, desperately bitting back tears and gripping on the edges of his dignity. Azul was pathetic, and he was not enough for you. He was no longer the little boy he used to he, he did not need to hide in an octopot, but he wanted to. He wanted the easy comfort, he wanted to pretend nothing was wrong, he wanted to be left alone and to have you by his side at the same time.
He had always known. You have never tricked him, your feelings were clear. You liked Azul as your dear friend, your confidant, and that was the end of it. And Azul loved you and loved you and ached for you, as you fell for someone else. He was merely playing pretend for as long as he could, trying to stay blissifuly unaware of what was happening right in front ot him, as his two closest friends fell in love and left him behind.
When had that happened? When had you grown fond of each other? When had Jade won your heart over? When had Azul stopped being enough for you?
Has he ever been enough at all?
The floor had no sympathy for him or his sorrows. The vacant office mocked him, showing his life long accomplishments, everything he fought tooth and nail for. Was it worth it? He had what he had always wanted, didn't he? So why did his chest feel so empty, so dull, why did his heart ache so much?
Time passed by, but he gave it no mind. No one knocked at his door, most likely because the twins noticed he wanted to be left alone, and left alone he was. He broke down, a pathetic sight of a pathetic man, and he pulled himself together, drying his tears and fixing his clothes. He had to keep his image, at the very least, otherwise what else would he have left going for him?
Azul did what he does best. He pretended. He pretended everything was alright, that nothing had changed, that he was fine.
The one thing he didn't have to pretend was that he was happy for you. Of course he was, seeing you so excited about your crush was heart warming. But it was also heart crushing, to have what he's yearned for at his fingertips and letting it slip away. He'd stay happy for you, even as his feelings ate him alive and his heart screamed and kicked and sobbed that it was supposed to be him. Not Jade, but him.
Here's the thing: Azul is not enough, but Jade is. Jade is, and Azul will make everything in his power to make sure it stays that way, so that your heart won't break, not like his did.
It's a few days after that Azul pulls Jade to his office to talk.
He didn't want to talk, he wanted to scream at him, wanted to cry about how unfair it was, but he had more composure than that, he knew better. It wasn't Jade's fault you had fallen for him, just like it wasn't Jade's fault that Azul was not enough. And Azul knows Jade, he knows him like he knows himself, he knows Jade will be able to treat you right if that soft smile he reserved for you was any indicative. Yes, Jade could be vicious and decieving, he could lure you in only to break you, he could outsiren the siren. But he wouldn't. He wouldn't, because Jade was just as infatuated with you as you were with him. No, not infatuated. In love with you.
The thought left a bitter taste in Azul's mouth. He was terrible and selfish, he wanted you to himself, he wanted you to look at him with that loving gaze, not Jade, but him. He'd swallow the feeling down for your happiness, for you.
"You wanted to see me?" Jade inquired politely as he entered, closing the door behind him.
The air felt tense. His stuffed little office made him seen so close. Azul held the scream in.
"Yes, I wanted to talk to you about the prefect."
"Oh? What about?" There was a glint in his eyes at your mere mention. Azul clenched his fists, his short nails biting into his skin to help him gather his strength, not back out on this. He had made up his mind.
"Your feelings."
"My... feelings? I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about."
Jade, of course, wouldn't reveal his hand so easily. He could deny it all he wanted, his body spoke for itself. The way he became more alert, he leaned in slightly, his eyes widened just a fraction. It was proof of their years of partnership that Azul could notice all of this in the first place. Jade obviously liked you back, and Azul wasn't in the mood for his mind games.
"You like the prefect. Don't bother with denial, it's quite obvious."
"Oh? I'm obvious now? How funny, I could swear I've seen you swooning over the prefect before."
He was having fun with him, the bastard. Jade was perfectly aware of his feelings, just as attuned to him as Azul was, wanting him to take the bait. It was entertaining to taunt him, perhaps, or he wanted to see if Azul would try to talk him out of it and leave himself to try his chance with you. He might have if he thought he had a chance to being with, but that wasn't the case.
"Cut it out, I'm not trying to compete. Quite the contrary, in fact. Jade, I want you to take the prefect out on a date."
There, he had said it. He was almost sure there was blood on his tongue with how much it hurt to get those words out.
For once, Jade looked surprised, genuinely taken aback. Not his carefully constructed mask of shock, but his true reaction. Azul tried to feel the usual satisfaction that would follow such a thing, but he could only feel bitter.
"My my, that wasn't what I was expecting at all. How come, Azul?"
"The prefect likes you back, simple as that."
He couldn't, was physically unable to, hold back his heartache at that. His feelings came stumbling down each word, it was obvious. But he'd do it for your happiness, he would beg Jade to treat you well and with the utmost care, he would dig his own grave and lie in it.
Not that he would have to. At these words, Jade perkep up instantly. Nothing anyone else would have noticed, but Azul did. Of course Azul did, Jade was his closest friend. And he was about to let him have you all for himself.
"What makes you think that?"
Jade had to know, had to know the way you looked at him with stars in your eyes, had to know the way you giggled and joked with him, had to know the way you liked to stay as close as possible. He had to.
"It's just as obvious as your feelings. So, do me a favor. Please, Jade." His voice breaks. Azul feels something inside him breaking alongside it.
Jade's eyes soften, an equal mix of pity and elation, and isn't it a funny sight? Who wouldn't be euphoric to know they hold your affection? Azul knows he would, Sevens, how much he would, how much he wishes that was the case.
"I understand. Thank you, Azul. I'll make sure we will have a most pleasant time together."
With a corteous bow, Jade leaves him to his misery. Azul could imagine it all, Jade's own cooking as you ate with him on a dinner illuminated by candlelight, your laughter as you slow danced in the dark afterwards, the stars shining bright above you and giving their blessings. How your lips would be so soft as you press it against his.
He grabs his hair in frustation, his chest feels ready to combust, Azul is a ball of jealousy and self pity and he's not enough.
Being your friend would have to suffice. He couldn't bear to lose you from his life, so that would suffice. Keeping you close, but never too much. Having your attention, but never all of it. Staying by your side, even if you're not by his.
Digging his cracked chest bones into his lungs, breaking and breaking the pieces left of his heart, waiting for his throat to be rasped raw, until his tears dry and he dehydrates. Until the sea runs dry and the land gets flooded, until the sun combusts and the moon implodes. Azul will stay by your side, of course he will.
Even if he has to watch you holding Jade's hand oh so tenderly, asking him to bend down a little for you to kiss his cheek. Even if his insides burn at the scene. Even if he only ever gets to stare at your back all day. Once your smile shines again, he can't bring himself to regret it.
He'll curse the day he met you, but by the Sevens, he wouldn't trade it for anything in this world. As long as he gets to watch you being happy, from afar, he'll be satisfied. He'll focus on his work and his studies and anything else to keep himself busy, but a single message from you will be enough to break his concentration and capture his attention.
You'll always be enough for him, more than enough. No matter how many years pass, Azul will keep loving you, even if he's still not enough.

Summary: He had hurt you. Azul had hurt you and he wasn't sure how he could ever forgive himself, the guilt gnawing at his core. Despite that, you still smile at him.
Notes: reader and azul knew each other before chapter 3, gn!reader, angst and hurt/comfort, self deprecating thoughts, some mentions of blood, injury and death but none too graphic, not proof read
Azul had lost everything.
Everything he had built painstakingly for years, crawling himself from the bottom of the depths, that he exhausted himself for, that he carefully planned and gained through his hard work. Gone, just like that, floating away in the wind the same way the sand of the beach is carried away by the waves.
But, the worst of all: he lost control.
Control of himself, his actions and his mind. Azul couldn't remember what happened after seeing his contracts disintegrating, only that he felt more despair than ever before. Even when he was isolated and mocked by the other merman, he's never felt such helplessness, such anguish, such misery.
His mind was muddy, he didn't feel like he was in his body. Why would it matter, anyway? It was all gone, gone, gone.
He let himself drown in the feeling.
Drowning was a strange sensation. Azul, being a merman, never thought he could experience it, but Night Raven College was full of surprises. His lungs felt full, an inky substance occupying where once was air. His vision was dark, as if he had fallen into an abyss. He couldn't bring himself to care.
Azul didn't know which was worse, the hopeless feelings or the lack thereof.
He stayed floating into nothingness for a while. He wasn't conscious, but he was. He was there, but he wasn't. He didn't have a body, but he did. If he could manage to string a coherent thought together, it might have been something like this: "Is this what death looks like?" Perhaps if he could muster enough strenght to feel something, he might have felt regret for all the things he still had left to do.
If he looked deep into himself, deeper than he was willing to, he might have found that he regretted making you sign one of his rigged contracts and dragging you into this mess. He should have known better than understimating you, he should have known that something like this would happen. After all, you were amazing enough to catch his attention. What made him think you wouldn't be amazing enough to find a way out of his deal? What made him think Jade and Floyd would be enough to disencourage you? What made him think someone like him, so dirty and insicere, could ever dampen someone like you, so determined and bright?
He didn't think about any of it. He didn't think about anything.
The first thing Azul felt when he came back to his senses was light against his eyelids. He was back at the surface. His body ached all over but his lungs no longer bled that viscous black liquid and he felt alive once more. He was still alive.
He could smell a familiar scent, one that he was used to smelling back at the Coral Sea, so used to he didn't identify it a first. He heard shouting that seemed to be miles away and right by his ear at the same time. His slugish head couldn't distinguish what was being said by whom, but he could swear he heard your name, it's mention alone being enough to jolt eletricity back into his being and keep him awake. There were hurried footsteps getting farther away and he finally recognized what the smell was. It was the metalic smell of blood.
He tried to open his eyes but the bright lights of Mostro Lounge burned them, so he kept them tightly shut. He couldn't get up, his legs hurt more than any other part of his body. What had happened? He couldn't have... could he? The last thing he could remember happening before passing out was... oh.
Oh. He did. Azul had an overblot.
His breath hitched, but he forced himself to keep breathing in the air, to keep the blot out, out of his system and out of his lungs and out of his veins and out out out of him. He bit his tounge, clenched his fists and forced his sore eyes to open.
The contracts, they were gone. His life's work. He had made a fool of himself in front of another housewarden. He had an overblot and put everyone in danger. He had put you in danger.
Jade and Floyd were by his side. They were talking to him, but he couldn't register the words. His head was underwater, the pressure weighting him down, his ears filled with water and dripping, dripping, dripping.
He could still smell the blood. Ah, it felt just like home.
Azul looked at his lower half, almost sure in some hysterical part of his brain that he would find his tentacles there. His legs laid on the floor, clean and useless. He breathed a sigh of relief. Still, he couldn't help but wish the blood was his.
He got the gist of what the twins were saying. Leona destroyed the contracts and you had managed to adquire his childhood photo. They were mocking him for the tantrum he threw, but he could tell they were worried. There wasn't much force behind the half hearted taunts and no matter how much they tried to hide, Azul knew them just like they knew him. They were aggravated at what happened as well, no matter how much they pretended they couldn't care less.
"What would you like us to do about the photo?"
"I'm pretty sure we could just snatch it up with how shrimpy is now, but man, I'm not in the mood for it."
"...I don't care about the photo anymore. Tell me, what happened to the prefect?"
Jade looked at him with pity and Floyd's mood deteriorated. There was a bottomless pit of dread at his stomach, his throat felt dry all of sudden. His eyes burned, but no tears fell from them. When had his breathing become so erratic?
As soon as the twins broke the news to him, Azul tried to stand up and see you, not caring for how much his legs ached and hurt and screamed at him to stay down. Good, he thought with venom, so much loathing and disdain it left a sour feeling in his mouth, they better be hurting after what he'd done. He deserves worse.
Jade helped him balance himself on his legs and Floyd laughed at his clumsy footing, as if it was the first time the three of them set foot on land and were just learning how to walk. Azul felt like he had been stripped from his tentacles and siphon all over again. He had been stripped from his skin and from his mind, had been laid open and bare and vulnerable for all to see, had his chest teared apart and his lungs leaking onto the floor.
Once they arrived at the infirmary, Azul was almost jumped by your friends. The Heartslabyul duo and the young Savanaclaw seemed ready to plummet him to the ground, no care for his condition, if it weren't for Jade and Floyd tanking him by both sides like bodyguards. Azul was glad they didn't care, he was glad they worried so much about you. He would have let them hit him and taken the beating, there wasn't much of his pride left to salvage anyway.
The school nurse had just finished attending you and promptly went to work on his injuries. The Headmaster appeared at the infirmary right after Azul was discharged, no doubt already knowing what happened. He had never seem Crowley look as serious as he did when he asked for the three of them to accompany him to his office.
Azul's body was exhausted, he clearly needed to rest. Still, he agreed without a fuss, the twins following him closely from behind. He could feel Jade's gaze burning the back of his neck, but he couldn't gather enough energy to care for whatever was going on the eelmer's mind. He felt empty, almost hollow. Frighteningly so, like he was still on that void state, disconnected from his body. Was he even awake?
The talk with the Headmaster was a long and tiring one. At the end of it, Azul accepted the new terms for him to keep running Mostro Lounge at the school, gripping tightly to the only thing he had left. He couldn't lose his beloved restaurant alongside everything else, it would be too much, more than he could handle.
It was dark by the time they were excused to go back to their dorm. Azul felt and looked like a mess, not like the businessman he took pride in being. His hair was dishevelled, there were eyebags under his eyes and his mouth was set in a firm line for a while, not managing much more emoting.
There was a restlessness under his skin, on his muscles, deep in his bones, down onto every single cell. No matter how worn out he was, there was no way he would be able to sit back. Not until he saw you with his own eyes, saw exactly how much damage he had caused.
He wasn't able to muster up the courage to look the twins in the face as he told them to go ahead, that he had something to do. Luckly, they decided he had suffered enough and didn't kick up much of a fuss before leaving him alone.
The walk to the infirmary felt like a fever dream, too long and too short at the same time. Azul wondered if your friends were still there at this time, if you were awake, if he was even allowed to enter. He stayed rooted in front of the entrance, trying to gather every last bit of confidence to put up his usual serene façade.
He wouldn't let you see how affected he was by the whole ordeal. This wasn't supposed to be about him, he wanted to take a look at you. You, who had been nothing but friendly to him, who had caught his attention early on, who spent time with him at Mostro Lounge, who he admired so much, who wormed your way into his heart and refused to leave.
Azul was afraid you hated him now, but by the Sevens how much he wished you did. Why wouldn't you, after he tried to scam you out of your house and almost got you killed. All for his selfishness, for his stupid pride and greed. He was ready for you to scream at him, to hit him, say you never wanted to see him again. Even if the mere thought was enough for him to feel like throwing up, he knew it would be better if he stayed away from you and your light. That way, he wouldn't hurt you again, never again.
Steeling himself with the fakiest smile on his face, he pushed the door open, hands shaking.
The infirmary was quiet, no one in sight save for you. You were laying on one of the first beds, a peaceful expression on your face. You looked beautiful. You always did, to him. There were bandages all over where your skin was visible. Azul could feel the guilt choking him. How could he have the audacity to come talk to you after he was the one that did this?
He turned around and was about to leave when he heard you whisper. It was spoken so softly he wouldn't have heard at all if he wasn't hyperaware of you. "Stay."
Azul stayed. He could never deny anything you asked for. Especially not when you sounded so pleading, when you looked at him like that.
There was a chair next to your bed, so umconfortable looking as it must feel. But it was the best way to stay closer to you, so he sat on it, waiting for you to drop the guillotine over his head for his sins.
The silence was suffocating, denser than the pressure at the bottom of the ocean. He wanted you to say something, anything. His gaze was on the floor, lips pulled back, brows furrowed. If he closed his eyes, only the darkness would welcome him, swallow him whole, so he kept them stubbornly open.
"Azul." It felt like a blessing, like a drop of water after walking through the desert, like a warm embrace. Azul relished the way you said his name, the delicious entonation as your tongue rolled over every letter. He wanted to beg you to say it again and again. The only thing he does is lifting his head to look at you.
The proximity between you two was startling. He hadn't noticed how close you were, hadn't noticed you raising your hand, hadn't noticed the shine in your eye. He thought you were about to slap him, but couldn't drag his stare away from your eyes. They looked so gentle, so full of... something. He wouldn't dare try to name the emotion behind them, wouldn't dare hope.
Your hand made contact with his cheek, making him flinch lightly. There was no sting, only your warmth as you held his face. Your fingers left burning imprints where they touched, marked him from the inside out. Wide blue eyes meet your affectionate ones, so open and honest. Why were you being so gentle to him? Acting like nothing happened, like things were the same as before this whole mess occurred.
"I'm glad." You confess softly, a secret meant only for the two of you, thumb brushing against his cheeks as he leans into your touch and lets himself melt into it while he still can. "I'm glad you're alright, Azul."
"How can you say that when you're the one laying on a hospital bed?" His voice falls flat, trying to hide his emotions. But he's a cracked shell, his insides are spilling out into your palms, plain for you to pick apart and analyse as you please.
You smile, your joy is so sincere Azul can feel his eyes burn with unshead tears. How could he ever hurt someone like you? How could you still look at him without an once of hatred or disguist or fear?
"I was worried about you." You state as if it was the simplest thing in the world, because it is, to you. The sky is blue, the ocean is cold and you care about Azul. You say as if you aren't shattering his last bits of composure, as if you aren't breaking his heart into little jagged pieces.
"Don't say that." He manages to choke out, as if the mere words hurt his throat, voice watery and breaking. "Please, don't say that." The 'I don't deserve it' is not said out loud, but both of you can hear it.
"How can I not? It's the truth." His tears flow freely, no longer under his control as he feels the urge to sob, to beg for forgiveness, to hide and never see you again in fear of hurting you. Only you had this effect on him, only you could break his barriers and composure so easily.
You brush his tears away, whispering reassurances. Wasn't him supposed to be the one reassuring you? He had come to see how you were, to apologize, to let you scream at him, anything. He could take it if you hated him, he would understand, but how could your gaze still hold so much fondness in it, so much love? The guilt shatters him, pierces his heart, make his sobs louder. How cruel could your kindness be?
He had hurt you. Azul had hurt you and he wasn't sure how he could ever forgive himself, the guilt gnawing at his core. Despite that, you still smile at him.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry." He repeats, over and over. You say you forgive him, but he keeps going until his voice is hoarse. You don't, no, you can't understand it. You did nothing wrong, you're not like him, hands stained with blood and rot. He lets his guilt out before it festers and consumes him. It isn't enough to make up to you, although it does make him feel a little bit better, to let it all out like this.
You don't lie to him. You don't say it wasn't his fault or that he wasn't in the wrong, but you don't rub it in either. Azul appreciates it, the sincerity. He knows you can hold him accountable when the time is right. For now, you comfort him. You tell him how nobody else could put such effective notes together, how determinated and hardworking he is. How his past doesn't define him and how he has greater strenghts than any magic. He drinks every word up, commiting them to memory.
As his tears seem to dry out alongside his voice, you pull him closer to yourself. He submerges himself into you, your scent, your voice, your touch. He would happily let himself drown on the sensation. You just hold him, rubbing circles on his back and lending him your shoulder.
It's like time has frozen over. Azul wishes it had. He could stay like this with you for hours if you'd let him, although he doesn't feel ready to admit it, be it to you or to himself.
Everything is not right. You're still hurt, his contracts are still gone and Azul still feels wrong, the effects of the overblot lingering underneath his skin. His reputation took a significant blow and he'll have to change the method he's always used to work at his own establishment.
But not all is lost, either. He can start over, the right way this time. You'll be by his side, cheering him on. There's a long road to improvement and Azul has never been one to get scared by such things. He'll put his efforts on getting back on his feet and breaking the surface of the water, as he refuses to drown.
The late hour weights on your tired bodies, causing you to yawn, your hold on him getting laxer. With the way his body aches, he wouldn't be able to go back to Octavinelle. In fact, he doesn't feel able to move from the chair he is in. He doesn't want to leave you from his sight, to lose your touch.
You ask him to keep you company, prompting him to lay his head on your lap, an umconfortable position, as he has to bend his torso to reach it, but he doesn't mind. Just having you nearby will be enough. One of your hands interlock your fingers with his and the other plays with his hair as you hum, not letting the silence engulf the room. He's beyond grateful for that, for how you just seem to know what he needs and is more than willing to give it to him. He's never been handled with such care before, like he's wanted, like he's precious. It makes his body feel warm and he basks on it.
He waits until you stop your ministrations, until your breathing evens out and it's just him alone with his thoughts. He keeps his eyes shut, as he knows that if he dared to glance at your sleeping face his heart would burst with affection, the feelings he's trying to rein in exploding from his chest.
Azul only has made a promise to himself once, when he was a little kid being bullied by his peers, eager to prove them wrong, to prove he could be better than their expectations. Now, he makes a new promise, to protect you and your kindness, to never let someone, least him, hurt you again, to make up for his own shortcomings and become someone you can be proud of.
He loses consciousness for the second time that day, but this time he knows he's alive. He feels it in the way his heart beats in sync with yours, the way his breaths come out from his mouth, the way your fingers are laced with his.
Azul is alive and swimming to the surface, as he refuses to drown.

You were late, and Azul was panicking. Why were you late? Did you just not want to see him? Were you just blowing him off? Azul as terrified of you not coming, not wanting to see him.
Upon seeing the doors open, revealing you, in a dress similar to that of the Sea Princesses, Azul's jaw dropped. He straightened his back upon seeing you come his way.
He gave a small laugh, "well.. you look.. wonderful." You couldn't help the small laugh that came from you, "Thank you. You can blame Vil, he wouldn't let me come in a normal outfit." You laughed.
Azul gave a laugh in return, holding his hand out toward you upon hearing a slow song start overhead. "May I.. have this dance?" He asked, obviously nervous for your response.
You gave a smile and took his hand, "You may." Azul smiled and led you to the dance floor, one hand gliding toward your hip, and the other taking your own hand.
As you danced, he cleared his throat. "If I may, I have something to tell you." You nodded, motioning for him to continue. He gave a small, nervous chuckle. "I think I... No, I know that I love you." He said quickly, before giving a sigh. "That.. wasn't as bad as I'd suspected." He said with a nervous laugh, awaiting your response.
With a small laugh and shake of your head, you responded. "I love you too, Azul."
You hung out with the tweel, not exactly fond of the dance floor, especially while wearing heels and a puffy, long dress. "Hey, Jade. Are you good at dancing?"
Jade gave a chuckle, "Why, I'd say I'm all right, but I wouldn't say I'm the best." He admitted, "Although, Floyd is a much better dancer than myself." Jade gave one of his normal, light chuckles.
"Despite how good my other half is at dancing, he finds it.. boring and uninteresting." Jade hummed, taking a sip from the punch he held in his hand.
You gave a laugh, "yeah, that sounds like Floyd." Jade simply nodded in response. "Say, may I talk to you after the ball is through? I have something to tell you." He told you, finishing off his punch.
Your brows furrowed in confusion, but you nodded nonetheless. After some more conversation with the eel, the ball was over and Jade guided you outside to somewhere quiet and concluded.
Jade turned to you, "I must admit to you that you are quite entertaining. Assuming you know my brother and I as well as you do, you know that we are very fond of those who are entertaining."
You listened, giving a nod toward the end. "Which is where I'd like to tell you that I-" A shout was heard from a tree, looking over, a fallen Floyd laid on his back at the bottom of the tree. "Oh, just tell 'em, stupid."
Jade and yourself couldn't help but laugh, "tell me what?" You asked. "I love you." He said simply, kissing your forehead lightly.
Floyd had even shocked himself upon asking you to this ball, he had no intent on even coming in the first place. But the idea of seeing you in a dress, all completely dressed up, had him in a chokehold.
"Woah. You look nice." Floyd blinked, and you laughed in response. "Thank you, Floyd." He nodded and held a cup of punch toward you, and you took it. You thanked him once more before taking a sip on it.
"Hey, Shrimpy." Floyd said, getting your attention. "Yeah? What's up?" You asked. "What do you say we get out of here?" You blinked, "Floyd, we both just got here." You said with a laugh. "I know, but if we stay any longer then Crabby or Little Mackerel will come up and steal you. So." He said, making a popping sound with his lips as he waited for your response.
You shook your head with a laugh and nodded, "alright, but where do you want to go?" Floyd shrugged, "I don't care." You laughed, before taking his hand and simply taking him back to Ramshackle.
His eyes were glued to his hand even after you'd gotten to Ramshackle. You snorted, "Floyd." You said, waving a hand in front of his face. "Huh?"
"what's up with you?" You laughed, and Floyd shrugged in response, simply resting his chin on your head. He spoke up after minutes of standing like that. "Hey, Shrimpy?" He said, "yeah?"
"Love you." He said simply, kissing the top of your head before reverting back to resting his chin on top of your head.
Can i request for any twisted wonderland characters that's fit x reader who don't know how to cook
yeah, of course!
Some of these characters have shorter parts because I added every character in the game, minus side characters such as (Artemiy Artemiyevich Pinker (Che'nya), Rollo Flamme, et cetera)
Also! If there are any inadequacies with grammar, I apologize, I'm at a friend's house while i'm writing this and I'm very easily distracted.
If it's not obvious, I'm a sucker for soft Sebek
Ortho is strictly platonic!
And Reader can be viewed as either Yuu or not!

Riddle's world comes crashing down, in all honesty.
The boy was raised with the ideal that a partner is supposed to be at least a decent cook, but you are the exact opposite.
He will eat your food only to be nice.
Even though he can't cook all that well himself, he'll try to suggest ways to make it better even though none of his suggestions really, truly help the awfulness of your cooking.
Let's just hope you don't end up cooking for his mother.
Trey is quite literally the sunshine to your moonlight, your sky to your ground.
You two are total, clear opposites.
He can cook almost anything without flaw, especially pastries and sweets.
He will panic if he ever sees you in the kitchen, trying to cook something.
He'll subtly take over for you, slowly taking more and more control of the kitchen.
Cater would not care one single bit.
He is taking so, so many photos and posting them on Magicam, he does not give two shits whether it looks amazing, or absolutely terrible.
He will post it, specifically because you're his partner, you're his significant other.
And yes, he will shove it down his throat even if he needs to vomit it up later.
Ace can't cook, not one bit.
He's also very weird about his tastes.
He'll eat pickles and ice cream but he probably won't eat a single slice of cheese.
He'll eat anything you make at all whatsoever, unless there's cheese. (I headcanon he absolutely hates cheese, don't ask why)
He'll watch you cook and won't even interfere.
He does notice how bad your cooking is but he won't say or do anything about it because he genuinely does not care.
He'll even tell you it's actually good
Deuce doesn't even notice how bad it is, and if he did, he wouldn't even care.
He'll anything and everything, minus bell peppers.
He cannot, and will not, eat bell peppers.
He hates the taste, the texture, everything about bell peppers is everything he hates in all of Twisted Wonderland.
He tends to not watch you cook and has no reason for it.
Leona's not exactly shameless when it comes to meats, despite any sort of meat being among his absolute favorite foods.
He's not very picky about meats though. Just as long as it's cooked decently, and seasoned alright, he's fine.
Despite being a literal prince, he does not have a prince's palette.
He'll literally eat raw meat if it suits his needs
Of course, that's mostly because of the lion beastman part of him
Ruggie is literally shameless, make him anything and he'll eat it.
Just as long as it's not rotten, he'll eat quite literally anything.
He's not the greatest cook, but he'll help in any way he possibly can.
He'll most definitely bring your food to the kids in his neighborhood, no matter how terrible it is.
He wants to make sure they're fed, and he's happy when you're willing to cook.
He never tells you if he genuinely thinks you're food is bad, he'll end up feeling terrible and he knows that so he won't say a thing about your cooking.
Unless it's any sort of praise.
Jack isn't entirely picky, but he's not the biggest fan of your cooking.
Being who he is, he'll feel bad for even thinking that your food is bad.
Also being the honest man he is, he'll sadly point it out to you, admitting his wrongdoing.
He's a big sweetheart, so he'll try to be as kind to you as he can, no matter how you end up reacting.
Given that Azul grew up with his mother owning a restaurant, and he himself owning a restaurant, he's a bit... iffy over your cooking skills.
Of course, he'll always be nice when he brings it up. You're his significant other after all.
He'll point it out and he may give you some of his mom's recipes to help you follow along.
He helps you cook much more than he used to, letting you have most of the control, but he will come in if he sees you do something wrong.
Jade finds you and your cooking very, very entertaining.
He doesn't ever actually help you unless he finds you cooking mushrooms and.... screwing them up.
After that, he's immediately on your case and helping you cook.
Within the next two or three weeks, you're an absolute master chef.
Especially with mushrooms. By time Jade is done with you, you're more than likely a better chef when it comes to mushrooms than he is.
Floyd thinks you are the most entertaining human he's ever met.
Like some other people, he doesn't think your food is bad, just that it's so unbelievably entertaining and unique.
He actually doesn't try to help your cooking or change it or buy you anything new.
He simply watches the chaos of your cooking unfold, while occasionally adding his own, odd concoction to the mix.
And he will eat your food, no matter what you put on his plate, or what you put in the odd concoction you call your cooking.
Just don't add any shiitake mushrooms, he begs of you.
Kalim more than likely trusts you enough to not have Jamil test the food you give him.
The only way Jamil would let Kalim eat your food is if Jamil himself trusted you.
So, if Jamil trusted you, Kalim would more than happily eat your food himself.
He probably wouldn't care if your food was the best food in the whole of Twisted Wonderland, or if your food is the worst thing in all of Twisted Wonderland.
He'll eat it happily and won't complain one bit.
Jamil, if he truly trusts you, will eat small bits of your food and will help you cook every single time you step in a kitchen.
He won't completely take over like Trey would, but he will guide you in every single way, subtle or not.
Once you get better and better, he'll eat your food more and more.
He'll take over for you at any time and finish the cooking for you, if that's what you'd like, all you'd have to do is say the word.
You're going to make the Vil Schoenheit break out. And that's a feat, especially considering his rigorous skincare routine.
He won't eat any of your food, and he will flat-out tell you, in a relatively nice tone of voice, that your food is not exactly good.
If he realizes that it hurts you, he'll try to find ways for your cooking to taste relatively better, whether it be buying you new utensils, or buying you cookbooks or any other things like that.
He promises you that he never meant to hurt you, he just wants to... help.
Oh, Rook does not care. He genuinely thinks that your cooking is beautiful and wonderful in every single way possible.
He will eat your food and compliment you even if you put whole-ass children's toys in your food.
He'll buy you whatever you need for your cooking without you even need to ask him, he's kind of a freak like that.
Epel is very in the middle, he's fine with your bad cooking just.... don't make him eat it because he will act like a toddler having to eat vegetables.
Or, that's what he says he won't do.
He says he'll be all manly and eat it like a man, but you know for a fact that he won't and he will act like a little kid.
Idia barely eats as it is, so when you bring him food, his hair will immediately turn pink and he'll try to hide his face by tightening his hood over his head.
He won't care whether it's bad or good, he'll only care about the fact that you actually... brought him food.
Of course, Ortho does so all the time, but it's different when your significant other brings you a whole meal because they don't want you to starve.
Once again, he doesn't care whether it's good or bad, he'll shove it down his throat either way.
Ortho can't exactly eat, given that he's both a robot and a machine.
But he'll look up recipes and help you cook and help you get as best and as good as you can get.
He'll always help, and use every single upgrade he's ever got put into him by his big brother to help you cook as best as you can.
Oh, boy. Malleus is scared that he has another Lilia on his hands. Of course, your food is not as bad as Lilia's, but it's still not, for lack of a better word, good.
He will eat it, but he'll compliment and praise your cooking in a very... odd way.
He'll compliment you, yes. But he'll also add in some, not-so-subtle ways you can improve.
Don't tell him, he genuinely thinks his attempts at helping are extremely subtle, when they are absolutely not.
Lilia, like Rook, Kalim, and Deuce, won't even notice that your food is bad.
And that is mostly because he, himself is a bad chef.
He's such a bad chef he can't even tell when foods are actually bad.
Even if he could tell that your food was not good, he still wouldn't care because he just loves you far, far too much to even think of pointing it out.
Silver is internally sobbing. First, his Father, and now, his significant other.
He's very sweet about telling you ways you can improve.
He actually does this with his father, too. But you're the only one who picks up on it, Lilia, sadly, does not.
Silver tries his absolute hardest to help, but he eventually succumbs to his sleep, but he always profusely apologizes afterward.
Sebek is oddly much sweeter about it than you'd ever expect.
He doesn't yell, but he does let you know that it doesn't taste good.
He explains ways you can fix it, despite he himself not knowing how to cook all that well.
He explains everything he knows about cooking to try and help you.
If Sebek manages to view a human as a significant other, or partner, he will dote on your every need or want in the sweetest way that you'd never, ever expect from him.
He's very sweet as he helps you cook, making sure that you do everything to the best of your genuine ability.
Hi I’m sorry if this is too silly a request, but can you do savannaclaw and octavinelle (separately) x reader who has really soft cheeks and how they find out about their soft cheeks + what they do with this knowledge? Thank you! <3
Yup!
And if you haven't noticed, I quit colour-coding names and pronouns simply because I'm lazy
And this is my first time writing Ruggie and Jack so, please forgive me if they're bad 😭

Azul would more than likely find out during his overblot, although he wouldn't much care or notice it at the time.
With his magic, you'd get thrown to the ground and your cheek would squish up against the hard floor.
Upon returning to his normal self, his immediate reaction would be to run to you and tilt your face up toward him.
Despite still being in shock over what happened to him, he remembered how your cheeks squished up against the floor.
Despite how your cheeks don't look squishy, they are, and Azul takes total advantage of this.
After finding this out, he kisses your cheeks much more often.
Jade would've found out through his job at the Lounge
You'd more than likely bump into him and end up squishing your cheek against his back or his chest.
Upon learning this information, he'd be similar to Floyd in terms of reaction.
No matter who's around, what's going on, if it suits his needs, he'll randomly squish and your cheeks and give a light chuckle at your facial expression.
Floyd would more than likely find out from a normal squeeze.
He'd squeeze you, and because he's so tall, he'd feel your cheek squish against either, his own, or his chest.
He can and he will use this against you.
I would run if I were you.
He is not afraid to just randomly bite your cheeks, especially in front of people.
Your cheeks are like stress toys for him and don't even ask why.
He'll come running up to you while on break and just squish at your cheeks, he will not care who's around.
Leona would most likely find out during a nap.
You'd try to wake him up and he'd try to swat you away, lightly smacking your cheek in the process.
After that, he immediately sat up before pulling you onto his lap.
He'd mess with your cheeks for a solid five minutes before laying back down and taking you with him.
It honestly took him by surprise, because your cheeks looked nowhere near as soft and squishy as they were.
Of course, he never actually made this known, simply laying back and going back to sleep with you in his lap.
Ruggie would have found out through a simple dare.
Using his signature spell on you and pinching his cheeks, and in return, making you pinch your own.
Ruggie would've immediately released the spell before taking your cheeks in between his pointer fingers and thumbs.
Just like the others, it took him by surprise.
And he will use it against you to get doughnuts, even though it's nothing to "use against you"
Jack would more than likely find out through someone else.
He's very respectful of your boundaries and wouldn't ever want to cross them.
So when he sees Ace or Deuce squish at your cheeks, he asks you why.
You explain to him that your cheeks are just naturally soft and squishy, and that you really don't mind it.
Jack would nod and completely understand.
But even knowing this situation, he still wouldn't even touch you unless he had your firm, verbal permission.
For @nisobird!
Almost made it a bit angsty at the dinner part, because there's food and this fic is about Azul
Also got a bit excited with this one 💀

You watched the fish and merfolk swim past the two of you as Azul held your hand and led you to his mother's house. He was in his human form, given that he was terrified you wouldn't like him if you knew what he actually looked like.
As the two of you made your way there, he explained to you what a lot of the things were. Places he would go to relax, places he would go when things were rough with other kids, places he would go to study grimoires, et cetera. He stepped up to his mother's door, hesitating before knocking.
The door swung open before Mama Ashengrotto wrapped all eight of her tentacles, and both of her human arms, around her son. Azul, not entirely shocked by his mother's antics, hugged her back, letting go of your hand in the process. She soon pulled her tentacles away, her hands resting on Azul's shoulders.
"My baby!" She smiled, so happy to see Azul again. She turned her head and happened to notice you, "Oo! My love, who might this be?" She cooed, giving you a firm look-at as she swam around you. You gave a soft laugh and introduced yourself, before Azul chimed in, adding a "My partner" once you were finished.
Mama Ashengrotto froze in place, her smile growing even wider, if that were possible. She immediately swept you into her arms. "Oh, oh, oh! I'm so excited to have a daughter-in-law!" She soon set you down, "I've always wanted a daughter!" You looked over at Azul to see his face absolute beet-red.
You gave a soft giggle as Azul hesitantly spoke up, "Mama.. this isn't my fianc(é/ée. Just my partner." Mama Ashengrotto froze once again for just a moment. "Yes, and.. the difference is?" You let out another soft laugh at her response.
"Well, whatever. Now, come on! I must show you around!" She said, her smile never fading as she took your hand and swam into the house, Azul following close behind with his blush-ridden face.
She showed you around the house, stopping at every door to explain what was behind each and every door. Eventually, she led you to the kitchen and dining room.
"you'll be able to stay for dinner, won't you?" She asked the two of you enthusiastically. Azul looked over to you before you gave a chuckle and nodded. "Well, we don't have any plans." You responded.
"Oh, wonderful!" Her smile grew even wider. "Dinner should be done in just a few minutes. Please, sit!" You and Azul did as she asked, before Azul looked over at you and whispered a light apology at his mother's enthusiasm.
You shook your head and told him it was alright before his mother came back with the food. She handed both Azul and you a plate, before allowing you both to eat.
You ate the food happily as she asked how it was, you nodded happily and told her it was fantastic. "I'm so glad you like it!" Mama Ashengrotto told you, before eating her own food.
Mama Ashengrotto showed you some of the games they had in the Coral Sea, playing them with both you and her son. Hours later, she bid the two of you off, seeing as it was getting late.
On the way back, you smiled, entangling your fingers with Azul's. "You know, your mom is.. really sweet." You laughed, causing Azul to give a laugh in response. "Yeah, she's just happy to see me happy. She's always been that way, especially after dad left." Azul paused, "but despite her... overwhelming enthusiasm, she's a great mom, and a wonderful cook." You gave another laugh, "well, I would hope so, if she owns a restaurant."
Azul shook his head with a smile, "Yeah, you've got a point." He said, bringing your hand to his lips, kissing your knuckles.
Just a little fluffy Azul blurb because I'm in love....
Also, this is like.. really shitty (and Azul is kind of out of character, but this is honestly my own personification of him when he's tired.) (I'm projecting...) . I just wanted to get this out because I'm bored and hyperfixating on TWST again.
And yes, I know I said I wasn't going to be writing much, but I lied

An early Saturday morning, you awake next to Azul in bed. He had obviously been exhausted the night prior, for his eyebags are deeper than usual. His arm is draped over your torso, loosely holding you close. Light snores could be heard from his sleeping body as you look over at him.
You try to wiggle your way out of his grasp but his arm tightens around you as he lets out a small whine of annoyance, as he doesn't want to let you go. You give a soft laugh, before saying his name aloud and receiving only a tired, half-asleep grumble in response.
You say his name a few more times before he opens his eyes and looks at you. "It's a Saturday.." He huffs, his messy and unkept silver hair drifting in front of his eyes, blocking his view of you.
"Yes, but it's also the busiest day for the Lounge, is it not?" You snicker, as he nods slowly. "Yes, but.. I'll have Jade and Floyd deal with it.." He whines once more, pulling you even closer, if that were possible.
You snicker once more, shaking your head. He really does change character when he's tired, you realize.
OMG this made me feel,,,, so loved,,, Sjsjsj and the fact that Floyd and jade are are sea creatures and the little feature you added about Jades constant work and how Floyd reckless is just like Icarus djsnksna omg it’s so good!!!
How the twisted wonderland boys will sleep on you
PART THREE
Octavinelle
Azul
He does take a liking to tight, enclosed spaces, given his past in octopus pots. He’ll seek out your arms, pulling them around him. He enjoys sleeping with his head squished into your chest, you curled around him. It’s a security blanket of sorts, for him.
Unlike Ace,he isn’t so shallow in terms of his partner. If it fits,he sleeps. He genuinely thinks that his partner,no matter the gender, the body shape,is beautiful. Maybe it’s because he’s so hard on himself that he doesn’t want anyone else to go through that pain. Man really really likes being the small spoon. It’s comforting, really, being hugged to sleep. He’s also fond of tangling your legs with his,it has a certain intimate feeling to it.
All he wants is to be as close to you as possible.
Is that so wrong?
Jade
A rather hard man to read,to be honest. But even the more proficient workers get tired. After a busy day at the Mostro lounge, all he wants to do is to sleep, with you by his side. Being an ocean animal, warmth is something… foreign to him, when everything around him has always been so cold, and dark. Your presence is hot enough to set him ablaze, and he’s a little surprised to find that he doesn’t mind dying to this heat if it means that you’re beside him.
He’s not all together too fond of literally using his lover as a pillow, but he does like snuggling into the crook of your neck from behind, whispering sweet nothings into your ears. May rub circles into your back, for the sake of his hands, who are too used to being busy.
It’s hard for someone like him to fully relax, but you seem to help.
Floyd
Similar to Jade,he wasn’t exposed to much warmth growing up. The ocean was deep, dark, and scary,so that’s how he turned out. So upon meeting you,was like seeing the word for the first time. You are his sun,his warmth, his light, and he’ll gladly throw himself into the sun like Icarus if it meant feeling your kind touch.
It’s hard to pry this man off your body in the day,so it’s much worse when he’s tired, and all he wants to do is to use his beloved shrimpy as a pillow. Has the most awkward sleeping positions, and he tends to stretch out in those poses much like a house cat dozing in the sun’s glow. He needs you beside him,his arm around you. He would probably never admit it,but he falls asleep easier when you’re in his arms.
It’s bliss for him,so please just stay there, alright?
OMG OMG OMG IM IM LOSING IT I LJVE THIS SO FREAKING MUCH!!!! THE SWEET FLUFF THE AWKWARD BUT SOOOOOOO CUTE AN ENDEARING AZUL IS EVERYTHING DNDKDK HOW HE OVER THINKS EVERYTHING FOR YHE PEROSN HE LIKES THE DATE GDJSM THE LOVEEEE OMG I CANT THIS OS AMAZING THANK YOU <33

What could be the root of each and every social situation if not our individual choices, choices which themselves serve as a reaction stemming from predicted costs and benefits to themselves? When Azul puts on his glasses he dons this worldview— that beyond looking at the world as is intended, he must look at the unintended consequences of each action.
Azul firmly believes that the cost of something is what you give up to get it. Each decision must be made with proper insight, because each choice would affect not merely the everyday present, but the future. It was a principle Azul applied not just in business but in life itself, though he supposes anything in life can be turned into a business one way or another.
For instance, he applied these business principles in relationships, or as he would rather call it— connections. It would be preposterous to assume someone would be willing to befriend him, and that he’d be able to procure a favor or two out of them, without him giving something up in exchange… except perhaps Scarabia’s Dorm Leader, though he supposed there were bound to be outliers.
He doubted he could ask too much of Kalim, though, knowing Jamil was there to be wary enough for the both of them.
Nevertheless, it was easy to know what to expect, what to offer when you knew who you were talking to. It was easiest when his clientele would quite literally spill their woes and grievances to him, but research done either through the Leech Brothers or he himself was just as effective.
However, when it came to approaching you… he was drawing a blank.
“Azul,” speak of one of the devils, Jade appeared and peered from behind his shoulder, grabbing the paper before he could so much as protest, “did you really make a mind map?”
There was no point in hiding it from his vice, who would've figured out everything on his own anyway had he not already been reading his plan.
“Ah, and there seems to be an implementation timetable filled out on your desk as well. Fufu, you’ve really prepared for this date, haven’t you?”
“Proper preparation prevents poor performance,” Azul said, shaking off any shame as he grabbed another sheet of paper to write some more, “for everything to go perfectly, I must look over each possible alternative and the associated trade-offs. How else would I know how to best market myself as a partner?”
“...Is that so? I wish you good luck, then.” Although Jade’s expression had not changed, Azul was sure there was a jab at him in there somewhere in his mind. At times like this, he wished Jade would just outright say whatever he was thinking, though he supposed it wouldn't be very fun for him.
“According to your projected timeline, step one of your plan will begin… oh my, two days from now? It appears as if things here will become interesting,” the teal-haired man placed his mind map back on the table, gracing him with his usual smile as he turned to leave the room, “should you need help, I’ll be ready to assist you.”
So Jade said, but as capable of an assistant he was, this was something Azul wanted to accomplish by himself. Romance was similar to a transaction, was it not? A mutually beneficial fair trade, and who was he if not an expert in making deals?
Sure, he’s known to be quite unfair, but he had no intentions of scamming a person he was interested in whatsoever! Your heart must cost quite a sum, he deduced, for it was a scarce resource few, if not only one, could possess, but what could he possibly offer to have you willingly give it to him? Was his own heart really a fair enough trade?
He had written down several options, sorted in a table of advantages and disadvantages with his justifications in bullet points.
So you had agreed to go on a date with him— not dating, but a date, and a date was a good way to convince someone to start dating. But for that to happen that date would have to be a more than simply passable date, but what would count as such?
That was where the mind map came in— your name right smack in the center with multiple arrows pointing outward to details about you, things you might like, the board games you were most drawn to during club time, days and times he presumed you would be free, even the food and drinks you’ve ordered from the lounge in the past. If there was something he knew about you he had written it down, all in the hopes that it would help him figure something out.
First and foremost, Azul would have to gauge your interest level. When it came to the Mostro Lounge, he would typically conduct a survey to find out everyone’s likes and dislikes, but it would hardly be a good idea to be too direct with you— at least from the get-go. No, he had to at least word it eloquently.
Of course, he knew you were at least interested in him as well, that was a start, but to what extent?
Depending on the date there was a chance he would be shelling out some money, he was quite prepared for that, but that didn’t mean it wouldn’t cost you anything— there was no such thing as a free lunch, after all. A price? No, Azul might not appear to be as much of a gentleman as someone like Jade, but certainly more than Floyd. But the cost? To give up your time was certainly a cost.
It seemed like it was a given you were willing to give up some time for him, else you wouldn’t have agreed on that date, but sevens the details; and not just the details, but the implications of the details! Was there not a difference between a Saturday night date under the stars, or a Sunday brunch at a nice restaurant as opposed to… tea together on a hectic Tuesday afternoon, or a library study session together after class?
To Azul, there was most definitely a difference. All time was precious, but some more precious than others, and were weekends not more valuable than a weekday? You could fit any friend to simply hangout with on a weekday, but students tended to cherish their weekends, and they would not give up a day of rest just for anyone.
The best option would’ve been a weekend— weekends were flexible, with more options and longer times together possible.
But was Azul worth a weekend? It was the first date, so perhaps not yet, but he would like it if he was. You were worth giving up a weekend for.
He looked back down at the papers, suddenly feeling pathetic. He was a mess and he knew it. This was the first time he had ever felt romantic feelings for anyone, and as much as he hated to rely on luck, he was somehow lucky enough to have you be receptive to his advances— even though you were well aware of his contract creation behaviors. If he were to make so much as a single mistake with you, Azul was sure he would be devastated. He was already half-way devastated just at the thought.
It was okay though, he reasoned with himself, okay with the panic and the fear within. That was just temporary. After all, was it not better to feel the stress now, and enjoy the fruits of his labors later with you?
Octavinelle’s Dorm Leader pushed his plans aside for a second, resting his head on the desk. He just… needed to reset his brain for a minute or two. Then, he would go back to planning. Everything would be perfect.
Everything was not perfect.
But that was okay, Azul told himself. He just needed to turn the situation around in his favor. After all, success comes from finding opportunities in obstacles, and possibilities in problems. It’s a proven tactic— his younger self would attest to that.
“I’m really sorry Azul,” and you did seem sorry, if not for the fact that he could read you then because he trusted you, “I already have plans this weekend. Could we reschedule?”
“Of course,” he agreed easily, masking the disappointment he felt. You weren’t cancelling, or taking back your offer, just asking for another date. This was fine. He supposed next weekend wasn’t too long a wait… theoretically. He knew postponing would make him even antsier, but-
“Though… since we’re spending time together right now, this sort of counts as a date too, right?” you grinned, taking a box out of the shelf beside you, “I’m sure Idia won’t mind if I borrow you for a while, hmm? He can’t be your partner all the time.”
Several things happened at once.
One, Idia was coughing in the background, pretending he wasn’t listening or watching them out of the corner of his eyes like they were some kind of anime, but he was very sure that was what was happening. Two, you were already opening up the board game you wanted to play. It was one he already knew, but you taking a few minutes to read the instructions gave him the time for three, panicking about how you seemed to, or wanted to, or asked if this could, count this as a date.
A date?! Sure, he’s not entirely against the simplicity of one, preferably not the first date, but wasn’t this too simple? There was hardly any privacy considering the presence of other club members, he had no gifts to give, there wasn’t any food to share, and worst of all he had not given himself time to prepare— to put himself in that mindset.
Still, he lets it happen, because he likes you and if you wanted to spend time together during Board Game Club, date or otherwise, he would happily fulfill your wishes.
Besides, with an activity in front of the both of you at least he wouldn’t have to scramble his brain last minute for some date-appropriate conversation starters. He had yet to prepare any charming lines or stories to impress you yet, he had been planning on figuring those out a little later in the week.
“The cauldron of tokens goes here… then the legend and fate decks…” your muttering had taken his attention out of his head and back to the you who was focused on setting up the playing field. “It actually has more rules than I thought, huh.”
You had chosen a board game based on the Great Seven, with each of the Seven being a playable mover with their respective abilities, objectives, and strategies— with some luck, or “fate”, thrown in. Both him and Idia had played it a few times, usually as the Sea Witch and the God of the Underworld respectively, so he had some advantage depending on who you chose to play.
After all, you were staring quite hard at the Sea Witch’s figurine.
“I could teach you how to play as her,” he offered, slowly moving from sitting across you to slinking beside you. Close proximity you didn’t shy away from was a good sign the pseudo-date was going well, wasn’t it? Maybe teaching you would—
“But you like the Sea Witch the most, right?” That was true, yes, as expected considering he came from the Coral Sea and was a proud member of Octavinelle, but- “and I don’t want you going easy on me or anything like that. I’ll play as the Witch of Thorns instead!”
He would have easily given it up for you, but you had turned the tides on him instead and… well, that opportunity had drifted away quite quickly.
Still, even at the loss of a chance he was a little flattered at how you considered him when it came to choosing who to play as.
Okay, perhaps he was more than just a little flattered. Maybe it was the fact that you were in the date mindset that you could throw such a simple but lovely line so easily? It was difficult to be frustrated at himself after that.
Alright then. Sure, none of his internal plans were coming to fruition, but this was fine, it was just a board game. What was the worst that could happen… is what he should never have said.
Normally, if not 99.99% of the time, Azul felt a thrill in winning board games— especially when he somehow managed to beat Idia in a game of luck of all things. That same thrill didn’t translate now— not completely, at least. He still liked winning, he was proud of the moves he had made, and he found your frustration at how you were ‘one objective away from victory’ adorable, but was that the way to your heart?
If you counted this as a date, would losing leave you with good feelings? Should he have gone easy on you? There was a chance you would have been able to tell, but then…
“Azul…” for a merfolk such as him he had once wondered what a fire starter was, and whatever answer he had received back then had been retconned by the sight of the blaze in your eyes.
“I want a rematch. Chess, checkers, whatever— you can decide this time.”
Azul felt… thoroughly conflicted.
When club time eventually ended, you having lost all three of the games you ended up playing with him, you eventually bid him goodbye without raging at him like he knew some others would. You even ended up giving him a quick hug that left him flustered for a few minutes, and a promise to properly plan that date promised between the two of you. That… was good, wasn’t it?
Then, as soon as he and Ignihyde’s Dorm Leader were the last two left in the room, he began getting laughed at. To think a day would come where he would get laughed at by Idia. In the matters of romance? Azul wanted nothing more than to curl up in his octopus pot at the thought of it.
“It really wasn’t that bad.”
He really didn’t think so! Maybe not everything went right, but on the second date, or would it still be the first if that one didn’t count, he was sure-
“It was like seeing a freaking normie play a dating sim and picking all the safe options. Good route, but not the True Love route; like a noob who can’t do well without looking up a walkthrough online.”
Idia-san, he wanted to exclaim, what did that even mean?!
Whatever it was, he recognized when he was getting mocked; two could play that game.
“You’re provoking me? How funny, coming from you who can’t even get a certain someone to go out with you in the first place.”
“Azul-shi…”
Was Idia fuming? Upset? Good, then they could both wallow in their love woes together. Normally he’d prefer to internally cry in anguish on his own, and in the confines of his room, but he liked knowing he, at least, was doing better than someone else closeby.
Good, but not good enough— that was what his clubmate was implying.
He already knew that he had room for improvement, but he did not like being told it. It was something better hidden than known.
He began cleaning up the area you two had stayed in, picking up the Sea Witch token and idly turning it around on his hand. The Sea Witch would have known exactly what to do, executed it perfectly, had you willingly hand over your affections in no time flat.
The ever compassionate Sea Witch… what advice would she have given him?
You were talking to Jade when he spotted you— he had very nearly forgotten you two were in the same class. He wasn’t one to be jealous… no, he supposed he was, to a certain degree, envious that his vice got to spend more time around you, but he at least knew Jade had no plans of romancing you or anything.
Him being around while he talked to you still put him on guard, though.
“Azul! You said you wanted to give me something?”
If he hadn’t been before, though he doubted it, Jade was definitely paying attention now, smiling at the both of you the same way he always did— but Azul just knew there was something swirling within his mind. He wasn’t sure if he wanted to know.
“Mostro Lounge has a new drink,” either his voice was a little loud or the room was awfully quiet, because as soon as he said that he could see a few people turn his way, clearly as curious as you, “and it’d be good if you could be the first one to taste it.”
“Really? Just… for free?”
“Nothing is free,” he answered as he handed you the drink, “you’ll be paying in feedback, of course.”
And that he was doing this to woo you, but that didn’t have to be said.
“You’re one of Azul’s favorite customers,” Jade added, ignoring Azul’s pointed stare, “so he values your opinion.”
Really, he wanted to assign Jade to some particularly tedious tasks for meddling, but your demeanor seemed to brighten at the thought, sipping on the drink eagerly without a second more of hesitation. He forgave the eel quickly.
“Oh! This is so good!” The delight was evident on your face, and he doubted you would’ve gone so far as to say it was good instead of okay if you were just being polite. “It’s sort of like what I usually order, but better?”
That… was by design, of course. He paid attention to what you usually ordered, so it was easy to assess which ingredients you liked best. His original plan was to just get you something you already liked, but he was glad the risk had paid off.
Gifts. Of course that would be effective. Gifts with thought behind them were always nice to receive, and it just so happened that Azul managed the Mostro Lounge, which was a very good way to get you gifts for a limited cost— cost-effective, and provided him with convenient excuses to get you something! As a land-dweller would say, that was hitting two birds with one stone!
“Excellent. We’ll make it a permanent fixture on our menu,” Azul smiled, more than satisfied with the outcome. Perhaps this would mean you would visit the Mostro Lounge more often as well. He himself would be the one attending to you if such were the case.
“By the way,” he lowered his voice slightly, revealing the true purpose for coming to meet you a few minutes before class would begin, “are you available on Saturday night?”
He doesn’t dare say the word aloud— date. A part of him wants to brag, but there’s also the fear that once the word tumbled out of his lips he’d do nothing but combust— then just who would be the real fire starter between the two of you?
“I’m free! Just text me the details.”
“That’s wonderful to hear,” understatement— as they would say back home, he was as happy as a clam that finally, finally, something he had planned had worked out for him! Without any need of a restructure or reschedule or whatnot! He kept his cool though, wanting you to see him that way, and him wanting to keep up a certain image in public, thus shortly bidding you a good day as he walked back to where his class would be.
Things were looking up. Sure, he ran into a few obstacles, but that was normal, wasn’t it? Most businessmen don’t strike gold their first go, and even if they did, they had a tendency to be one-hit wonders, replaceable fads. He did not want this to be a one-time success, and he certainly did not want to be replaceable.
Maybe he’d give you a gift every now and then? But how often would be too often? And should it stay as food and drinks or should he diversify into something less safe? The line between generous and overcompensating was a little thin— he just wanted to be your, hopefully soon, boyfriend who treated you to nice things because you deserved it, and not someone trying to buy your love.
Similarly, because you had agreed to the night out, he had to finalize his plans; make all the necessary arrangements. He was quite confident in his idea, but there were certain finer details he had to smooth over, like… what would you two eat for dinner? What would he wear—
Oh sweet Sea Witch, what clothes would one wear on a date? This was never a problem under the sea!
Azul sighed to himself. He supposed it was back to the drawing room for him— him and his mind map, and perhaps a quick look online as well.
Maybe in the privacy of his room instead of his office, though. He’d like it if Jade didn’t find out this time.
If Azul was allowed to make the claim, he would, in fact, say he was in top form today— thanks no doubt to the days spent stressing about this night.
He had made all the preparations, talked to the people he had to, scouted the area and even checked the weather app multiple times just to make sure nothing would be ruined. He also made sure to dress for the occasion, or what his sources said was right for the occasion. The lack of layering, for this form at least, was quite new to him— white, long-sleeved, collared shirt, and dark trousers. It was similar enough to NRC’s uniform, just with less buttons and cooler fabrics— a casual combination that might have made him uncomfortable had you not praised him for it.
“Azul! You look so good!” That was more than enough to get him blushing, but you just had to continue. “Not that you don’t look handsome everyday, of course, but this relaxed vibe is super refreshing, too!”
Relaxed? Azul was pleased to know he appeared that way, because a part of him certainly wasn’t very relaxed, the part that was still fixated on making sure everything went well. Despite this, your compliments do well to get rid of his bashfulness over his appearance.
You thought he looked good? That was… good. That was really, really good, in fact. He’d go as far as to say he was relieved, even, that you didn’t see him as some kind of… disgusting octopus loser. Later before going to bed, he might think about how lame it was that he got so excited over it, but that didn’t matter right now.
“And you- you look, ahem, you look beautiful,” he had actually said it, and if you cared about his slight stumble in the beginning you didn’t show it, merely smiling and thanking him. It was nice, not to just be able to compliment you like he wanted to, but to have you take it without questioning his genuineness or intent.
“Should we go on the boat now? The night isn’t getting any younger,” you seemed caught off-guard, clearly surprised that he had somehow procured a boat for a date. A first date. A small rowboat, rowed not by him but automated by magic, fit for the two of you.
“Ah, in case you’re worried, the water’s on the shallower side. I’ve made sure it’s safe, too.”
No signs of a storm, no dangerous fish, nothing that could possibly harm you— though he still had his magic pen prepared just in case.
“I was wondering where you were leading me at this time of night, with nobody around but us. I was getting a little worried,” you joked, but your laughter soon settled into something softer, “but thank you, Azul. I really appreciate it. You didn’t have to do this much for me— I don’t know how many people would even do something like this for me.”
The date had barely started, and Azul felt like crying already.
“But I wanted to,” he replied, taking your hand as he guided you in the boat. He was doing this much because it was you. He didn’t think he could do this much for anyone else either.
Azul screams a little on the inside when you don’t let go of his— gloveless! — hand even when you’ve already settled down the boat, even when he follows suit. His cheeks feel a little heated despite the cool breeze, but he sincerely hopes the moon failed to bring it to light. He’s also a little upset you let go when he’s forced to move away from you, but he’d definitely make less of a mess retrieving dinner with two hands instead of one.
Later in the night the two of you had finished your meals, nothing remaining save for some drinks. You took a sip of the one you liked so much, one customized for you specifically— he had given you two other drinks to try over the week, but nothing quite compared to your reaction from the first one, thus his decision to bring it once more tonight.
“Drink of Me, that’s what this is called, right?” you asked inquisitively, “a play on words of Think of Me? Was it you who thought of that?”
“Ah, yes it was. Giving special names to drinks seems to make them more appealing to customers,” he admitted, despite some embarrassment in doing so. Jade and Floyd had certainly made fun of him for his name choices, them knowing the inspiration behind them. “Drink of my Dreams and Love Potion were also considered, as well as… ahem…”
“Yes?”
“Someone,” certainly not him, “had suggested Made with Love too, but-”
“It’d be a little too on the nose with that one, wouldn’t it?” you teased, but oddly enough he didn’t feel belittled by it at all, merely a little more embarrassment atop what was already pre-existing. Of course you would realize it was titled after you. “I think I’d still buy it though, whatever the name would be. It’s a very special drink to me, after all.”
“Is that so? Well, next time you stop by the lounge I’ll go as far as to even give you a discount— for as long as you keep it a secret between us.”
“As long as you’ll be there to serve me yourself.”
“If that’s what you wish, I’ll be sure to grant it.”
He was doing his best to keep his demeanor charming and confident, pretending as if he didn’t rehearse and imagine multiple scenarios in his head the nights leading up to this, but deep down he was simply euphoric.
Flirting! That was just flirting, wasn’t it? Sure, maybe he was no expert, maybe there was room for improvement, but he didn’t stutter or hesitate at all! He wanted to laugh in his mini victory.
Azul honestly couldn’t believe how well the night was going, because everything in his plans had gone through. You thought he dressed well, you liked the effort he put in, you enjoyed the meal you shared together, and you were just… you were smiling at him like everything was beautiful, like he was beautiful, and you looked beautiful and he just… wanted to cry out of joy. In fact, he thought he had started crying, that the sudden wetness on his cheek had meant a tear had escaped him.
“Azul, it’s drizzling,” at your words, he looked up at the sky to note that, indeed, the rain had been light, but still present.
Ah, Azul thought to himself, at least this way it wouldn’t be too obvious if he did end up crying.
He knew it wasn’t the biggest of deals— drizzles were barely noticeable, usually ended quickly, but an accumulation of multiple things had him frustrated. It wasn’t even that he hadn’t prepared appropriately at this point, he wasn’t someone who could control the weather.
You didn’t seem that bothered though, you never really seemed to be, merely stretching your hand out, facing your palm to the sky.
“...the boat won’t tip, right? Even if the sides had weight imbalance?”
“It won’t,” he answered, the tone in his voice shifting with the weather, “it has a spell on it to keep the passengers safe.”
“Alright,” the boy had snapped out of his stupor as you stood up from the seat in front of him, suddenly concerned you were going to get out of the boat or have your head hit by a low-hanging branch, but you gestured for him to make some room beside him for you. Once seated, you unclasped your bag, bringing out a compact umbrella.
“Apparently there’s a 10% chance of rain tonight,” you explained, clicking the button and opening it up right above the two of you, “as you would say, it pays to be prepared… even though I think getting drenched in the rain could be quite romantic.”
“You prepared even though the precipitation was just 10%?”
You looked at him with incredulity, “just 10%? Who are you and what have you done with my Azul?”
Your Azul? He could jump out this boat right now and stay afloat with how those two words had uplifted him.
Truly, you were something else, and he couldn’t help but look at you in awe. He was so desperate to keep the date a surprise that he had only told you it would be ‘outdoors’ and to ‘dress casually’, but you had prepared for something he had overlooked. A week ago he had wondered what solution the Sea Witch would provide to help him with his troubles, but it seemed as if you were the solution yourself.
“It’s a small chance, but I didn’t want something like the weather to ruin something you planned so carefully,” you said, almost thoughtful as you began to admit something, “listen… Jade told me-”
“He told you?”
“Not the plan! Or anything specific!” you clarified quickly, actually looking panicked for once, as if concerned over how he’d react… or maybe suddenly worried about what he’d do to the eel. He would still contemplate it, depending on what you said. “I asked about you first, actually, because I was getting worried about you.”
“Why would you be?” he thought he had tucked away every insecurity and worry he had in front of you, but by the look on your face it appeared as if he hadn’t had you fooled completely.
“You didn’t act like yourself sometimes,” you said quietly, “and you just looked like you were constantly thinking about something really difficult when you thought no one was looking. I asked Jade about it, I thought it had something to do with Mostro maybe, and he sort of… hinted it might have something to do with me. I guessed the rest.”
“He was likely irritated that my work ethic and attitude had worsened while planning this date,” he grumbled, rendering a small laugh out of you.
“If you say so,” he wasn’t sure what you were trying to imply, but you had quickly switched the direction of the conversation back to the two of you, “but Azul… don’t get me wrong, I loved tonight, loved all of what you’ve done, but I told you already, didn’t I? That you don’t have to stress yourself out overdoing it with the planning.”
And he had told you, didn’t he? That he wanted to put this much effort for you.
“Is it that you prefer simpler dates? Because-”
“No, that’s not it either,” you interrupted, “I just mean that regardless of whether it’s extravagant or simple, I’m enjoying myself because I’m with you. You could have told me we would spend our date in the library, and I’d like it because I like you.”
At your words, Azul found himself taking a deep breath, just for a few seconds to clear his head.
Maybe, just maybe, that was all he needed to hear all along.
“All this time… I was worried because I thought you wouldn’t like me as much as I like you,” he admitted, near silent in his words despite the fact that no one would hear but the lake, the rain, and you. “If I did all this for you, maybe you’d like me just as much.”
“Azul… my silly, sweet Azul,” as quick as a rapid river your lips had pressed against his still damp cheek, and by the time he had realized you had kissed him there you had already inched away, looking at him with fondness, “of course I do, maybe I just haven’t gotten the chance to really show it but I really do. Would you really be my boyfriend if I didn’t feel the same way?”
You hadn’t even given him enough time to process what had just happened, and now you were going to throw out that word?
“I’m your boyfriend?!”
“Yes?!” you suddenly sounded troubled, looking as confused as he did, “I… you asked me out, so I just assumed we were already dating? Are we not?”
“I, well… I didn’t want to assume, so…” Azul replied, feeling as if he got lost in translation with you somewhere during his confession. What exact words did he use? How exactly did you respond again? Maybe you actually did say dating and his mind equated it to a date? Was it the other way around?
“Seriously,” you groaned, and suddenly he had seen you mirroring his actions, the emotions he felt while he was busy thinking about you. He sort of feels bad, for the both of you, but there’s a certain solace in the fact that you weren’t as cool about this as he perceived you to be.
“I’ve been calling you my boyfriend to Jade’s face this whole time. For two weeks! No wonder he’s been so amused with me!”
He’s inclined to agree with you, that somehow an outsider in the relationship was somehow more knowledgeable than the two people in it themselves, but honestly once the shock had worn off he was too busy being elated over the fact that yes, the two of you were official, official all this time, and that he’d been worried over nothing!
It’s how you manage to get him to cling to your side, still extremely flustered, but unabashedly wrapping his arms around you as you fumbled to keep the umbrella upright.
“I think you already know I want you to be my boyfriend,” you began, “but what about you? Are you okay with me being your-”
“Yes!” The sudden outburst surprised the two of you, and Azul had regained enough sense to clear his throat and repeat it, more seriously this time, “yes, absolutely, I would like nothing more.”
How would a businessman such as Azul define love? Perhaps he would call it an insurance, not an investment on materiality but the bonds of reciprocity that guaranteed a consistent, regular amount of care and support and affection in the best of times and the worst of times. To a degree he still thinks that way, and would say so if anyone asked.
However, just between the two of you, his true perception of the concept was not one shaped by any economic principle or term, for it was an amalgamation of not just one but multiple feelings, ideas in his head that he could not even begin to map out, and nothing could embody it quite as well as a singular name— yours.
Omg I just found this again, loved reading it the first time and I loved it even more the second time
summary: You have the worst luck in the entire world to be transmigrated into a novel as some faceless side character, where the most notorious villains in the story won’t leave you alone. (ft. Riddle, Leona, Azul, Jamil, Vil, Idia, Malleus).
notes: 12k words, scenario, fluff, mentions of violence, reader gets injured once, heavily based on my love of cheesy isekai/reincarnation/villainess manhwa
All of your problems started with the book your friend lent you.
You didn’t even want to read it at first, but you took the copy because she wouldn’t stop pestering you and spamming you with texts. The title—I’ve Become the Villain’s Lover!—was embossed gold, and the cover picture had seven beautiful men lounging around a woman with brown hair, the woman gazing wistfully into the distance. In short, it was so cheesy it sent chills down your back.
You really weren’t going to read it. But that summer night was hot and humid and you had nothing better to do than stare at the television and stir around your half-melted ice cream. So when you saw the book on the edge of the kitchen counter, you thought, why not? and opened it up.
If it was bad, you would stop after a few pages. But the television kept droning on as you read, and your forgotten ice cream was now melted slush in its bowl, and soon you were halfway through the story.
The premise itself was simple enough: the heroine, Hera Winn, was the treasured daughter of a down on his luck baron. He sent her to the city to make her debut, and after a series of mishaps, she ended up running into the crown prince, Malleus Draconia, who fell in love at first sight. However, the crown prince was feared by his subjects, and rumors swirled around about his fearsome power and his family. To make matters worse, six other men fall in love with Hera. The cherry on top? All seven men were notorious villains, feared by people far and wide for their cruelty.
You were still a few chapters away from the ending when your eyes started drooping; it was impossible to keep them open, even though you were dying to text your friend. It was deliciously bad, in an over-the-top and campy way, and you appreciated how self-indulgent the author was. Seriously, why would seven villains even fall for an ordinary person? It was way too contrived.
Whatever. You could call her tomorrow.
You closed your eyes, and when you opened them again, you found yourself staring at an unfamiliar ceiling. Oh no. No way. This wasn’t what you thought it was, was it?
Conveniently, there was a hand mirror next to you, and when you stared into the frame, the face of a stranger stared back at you.
Your worst fears had come true. You’d transmigrated into I’ve Become the Villain’s Lover!
Shit. You were never going to read another book in your life.
This is a gift for @blues824, who inspired me with their amazing work, specifically their headcanons. This was also originally going to be a request, but since they are currently on a hiatus, I decided to make this myself.
Preface: Once upon a time, you were the unloved, ignored, and abandoned second princess of the Empire of Obelia. The nobles would always mock you for being the daughter of the emperor and a mere dancer. Even your father, the cold-hearted Emperor Claude De Alger Obelia, utterly despised you since you had killed your mother during childbirth. Your older half-sister, Crown Princess Jeanette, on the other hand, was beloved by all for her beauty, kindness, and being the daughter of the emperor and a high-ranking noble and was often heralded as "The Lovely Princess". In the end, when you were framed for poisoning your lovely older sister, your cruel father sentenced you to death, only for you to be reincarnated into the magical world of Twisted Wonderland.
I used to read the manga, "Who Made Me a Princess" a long time ago and dropped it during the chapters when Claude lost his memories. One day, I will return to it.
Riddle was absolutely stunned by your beauty the very moment he laid eyes on you. With your platinum blonde locks, delicate, fair complexion, and of course, jeweled blue eyes, you were most definitely the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. But of course, being a strict and serious control freak, he often yelled at you for breaking rules and associating with idiots like Ace and Deuce. He would never admit it, but he was jealous that someone as gorgeous and graceful as you would choose to associate with such imbeciles rather than him.
After his overblot, however, he found that his infatuation with your beauty and grace become a much deeper, more passionate, true love for you. You understood his pain of being a misunderstood, heartbroken little boy with a strict, abusive mother more than anyone else did, and never blamed him for becoming a monster. Sevens, you had even cried tears of heartbreak and empathy alongside him! Apparently, you were not just pretty on the outside, but beautiful within as well. And for that reason, he would always in debt, and in love, with you.
He seriously never understood why you were always so gloomy and withdrawn. Every time he or someone tried to compliment or praise you, you would always respond in such a self-deprecating way that it broke his heart. Didn't you know just how lovely you were? Something in him told him that something terrible must have happened to you for you have such low self-esteem.
He was utterly horrified when you told him about your past. He had his own fair share of heartless parents, to have been executed at the hands of your own father . . . how could someone be so cruel!? It didn't take long before his shock became fury. How dare - How dare someone do such horrid things to you - the loveliest rose of the field!?
"Oh, my rose . . . what terrible things you have endured! Don't worry, while you weren't the lovely princess of your past life, while you aren't a princess anymore, while you are technically nonexistent in this world, you will always be The Lovely Princess to me - no - you will be the Wonderful White Queen!"
When Leona first laid eyes on you, he pretended not to care, but don't be fooled. His eyes widened slightly upon perceiving such beauty, before later returning to sleep, allowing your face to plant itself into his mind like a seed. He had seen beautiful women before, but never one with eyes like jewels. Immediately, he ordered Ruggie to do research on jeweled eyed people and was infuriated when he came back empty-handed. He just had to know more about you and your kind.
After your saved him from his overblot, it would be safe to say that his deep fascination with your eyes became an intense, powerful love. You had a pure soul that had purified his, and he would always be enamored with you for it. However, just because you had a pure soul didn't mean you were completely pure and innocent of all the evil in the world. He could see that with the depressed and sullen manner of which you carried yourself. Upon asking you about it, he surprisingly was unsurprised to know that you had lived a terrible life in the past, full of humiliation, a malevolent father, and a negligent older sister. He also wasn't surprised to know that you had been a princess. It honestly kind of explained the sophisticated manner you conducted yourself with. The only thing he was shocked about was the fact that you had died, specifically executed, and came back to life. However, surprised or not, that didn't mean that Leona's blood didn't boil. He had his own experiences with being in the shadow of your older sibling, but to have been sentenced to death because of it? That was a whole other level of cruelty.
"Oh, kitten . . . I can't imagine all of the things you went through. Always know that while I'm unable to make you an empress, you'll always be the lovely princess in my heart."
Unlike the others, upon laying eyes on you, Azul couldn't care less about your looks. Or at least, not yet. Instead, he legit thought that because you had jeweled eyes, you had the ability to cry jewels, and he wanted to make a profit out of it. Imagine his disappointment when he found out you couldn't. It was, however, after that he started to take in consideration your appearance. With your ethereal, otherworldly beauty that rivaled Vil's, he decided to try and turn you into a model and make money off you from there. Imagine his disappointment when you refused.
He honestly had no clue why you were so insecure. Couldn't you see how beautiful you were!? It threw him into a jealous rage. You should have been grateful. Afterall, some people, such as himself, grew up being mocked for being ugly, and people like you were far more than fortunate. However, something inside him just commanded him to find out more about you, and what caused you to be so sorrowful.
He found out shortly after the two of you started dating, which was after he fell in love with you for saving his life following his overblot. His heart broke knowing all of the things you must have endured as the unloved second princess of Obelia. He wanted to find that wicked father of yours and make him sign a contract that would bind him to the very bottom of the sea even if he lived in another world. How dare someone hurt his angelfish like this!?
He also began to wonder if he was good enough for you. Regardless of how hated you were in your first life, you were still a princess. He, on the other hand, was the son of a mere restaurant owner as well as an unsightly octo-mer. However, when you assured him that you loved him and that he was more than worthy of you, he started crying tears of joy. Oh, he would have destroyed the entire malevolent empire of Obelia if you simply asked.
When Kalim first saw you, you reminded him of his favorite jewel back at home. He immediately began bombarding you with questions. Where did you get those contact lenses? Why were your eyes jeweled? Were there other jeweled eye people in your world??
It was only when he saw how uncomfortable you were that he stopped. However, that didn't mean that like with everyone, he tried to be friends with you. He honestly was very confused at how fragile and anxious you were. Did he do something wrong? Why were you avoiding him? Why did you evade everyone? But following Jamil's advice, later stopped.
Speaking of Jamil, following the events of Book 4, Kalim found himself falling for you. You had revealed to him the wicked conspiracy of his most trusted companion. You had comforted him and offered advice during his time of grief and feelings of betrayal. But most of all, in stark contrast to your usually cowardly disposition, had saved the life of his friend.
When you told him about your past, he initially refused to believe you and thought you were joking. Executed at the hands of your own father? You must be pretending to be a novel protagonist. There was no way anyone in the world could possibly be that evil, right? It wasn't until he saw you crying that he realized you were being dead serious. Guilt and horror immediately flooded his heart as he began apologizing nonstop and comforting you. He couldn't believe someone as lovely and loving as you, had gone through something so terrible. Sevens, he couldn't even believe that someone as innocent and graceful as you, was related to a monster! He promises that for as long as he lives, he would make the happiest girl alive until his kindness rivals the cruelty of that wicked father of yours.
When he first laid eyes on you, he could feel the claws of envy digging deeply into his heart. With your delicate, fairy-like facial features and ocean blue gemstone-like eyes, you most definitely were the fairest of all, even topping Neige in all his glory. So, without a shadow of a doubt, he was hatefully, painfully jealous of you. First, he had Neige, and now he's got you.
His resentment only worsens when he sees how shy and gloomy you are. Afterall, insecurity does imply wasting potential and a lack of tenacity, and Vil hates those who put no effort into improving themselves. Yet something inside him made him feel guilty to be harsh on you. He couldn't understand. Surely this was because he found your beauty irresistible, even if you didn't see it.
After you saved and forgave from overblot, however, his perception made a 180. He began to believe that you were an angel who was not only beautiful, but humble as well, and merciful despite the evils of the world. The only thing that remained the same was his confusion towards your insecurity. Didn't you know how honored he was to be in your presence? Didn't you know how precious you were???
He was absolutely heartbroken when you told him about your past. Unlike Kalim, he knew for a fact that you were not joking because of all the tears that stained your face, and because he's an actor who knew when people were telling a story or not.
"Oh, you poor thing! That evil emperor doesn't deserve to have such an amazing woman like you as his daughter! Always remember, meine liebe, that you are precious and no one in this world can compare with your beauty both inside and out!"
He's also deeply irritated by the story of "The Lovely Princess". How disgustingly trashy! Not only is the main protagonist wayyyy too boring and bland, but she made you suffer alongside your father! If it were to be a movie, play, or TV show, he wouldn't play it even if it was the last chance he got to play the main protagonist.
(Before reading Idia's part, please know that I have not finished Book 6 and am not very familiar Idia's character, so this mayyyy be inaccurate.)
OMG! She looks like a waifu from a manga or anime! Is what he thinks when he first lays eyes on you. You were just so beautiful, you had to an isekai protagonist (and you are!) Your eyes were so glamorous, they couldn't possibly be real! But, of course, being the otaku shut-in he is, he never had the audacity to ask you about where you got your contacts. As a result, he was stuck admiring you from afar.
His crush on you only grew as he saw how much of an introvert you were. You were constantly surrounded by people who told you to have more confidence in yourself, that it reminded him of himself and Ortho. As a result, he strongly empathized with you and your struggle, and that connection was just watered the flower of his love.
When you told him about how you were executed by your father in your past life, he honestly felt like summoning S.T.Y.X.'s forces to blow up the Obelia Empire. Let those sucker normies rot in Tartarus! How dare they harm his waifu like this!? He caresses your cheek, assuring you that while you didn't manage to become the Lovely Princess, you would always be his Persephone.
(Again, since I have not finished Book 6, I have not even STARTED Book 7)
When Malleus first laid eyes on you, not only did he fall head over heels in love at first sight, but he also thought you were a fellow fairy. He was very surprised when he saw your round human ears. who knew humans could be so beautiful? Not to mention how your eyes looked like jewels and dragons loved shiny treasures. Either way, he fell ardently infatuated with you for being the first person to not fear him.
He was honestly very intrigued to see that you were a very shy person. People normally avoided him about of fear, but you normally avoided people out of fear. It was kind of like opposites attract. He, who yearned for friendship despite being feared like a monster was in love with you, who yearned for loneliness despite attracting attention with your beauty.
He also grew suspicious of your status as a commoner when he saw how sophisticated your manners were. You carried yourself with poise and grace, like how a future empress was taught to do. Of course, he wouldn't dare accuse you of lying to him, but he began to wonder if there was more to the story.
When you told him about your past as the abandoned princess of Obelia, a storm started brewing as he prepared to strike down the entire wretched empire of Obelia. How dare someone harm his Y/N!?
"Oh, my dear . . . How dare someone do that to you!? And your one and only kindred at that! Curse that treacherous father of yours! Don't worry. With me, you will forever be safe and happy. Anyone who dares to offend you shall face my wrath. I will make sure of it."
When you tell him that you told him you were a commoner instead of an (abandoned) princess because you were ashamed of that fact that you were the abandoned princess of a kingdom that didn't exist in this world and that your mother was a commoner, he tells you,
"Oh, darling, that's nothing to be ashamed of. I will always love you even if you are a peasant."
Azul: How has your day been, Mc?
Mc: Well, no one died.
Azul: Those are your standards...?
Mc: I can't expect anything better when I'm friends with Ace, Deuce, and Grim, who have one collective brain cell that they lose frequently.
Azul: I, I see...
