Where do you think that recent trend of making Dionysus a peaceful deity comes from ? Unless it's a coincidence that both Hades II and Kaos decided it. Even then, I don't understand how they had the idea. There are at least 10 myths that prove the opposite. A quick look on Theoi is enough.

The only time he's really called gentle, it's literally used as an antithesis to his terrifying nature (because duality is awesome).

And seeing this quote requires people to read the Bacchae 😂, yk, an actual source.

(being gentle to Ariadne doesn't mean he's like that to everyone)

So, what do you think ?

Like in Euripides's play, he described him "most gentle and cruel to men". The ancient Greeks new the dichotomy and complexity of his character, but of course many gods could enforce cruelty to those that acted hubris to them.

Dionysus of course ,most of the time in art and literature is casual and relaxed, hence why he didn't get much attention of his more dark side.

Also is the fact how for centuries, the renaissance and mostly Western Europe viewed him. Most people would portray Bacchus and other Roman depictions of him. Alas why this common misconception exists today.

It's also worth noting that many people look at things at a surface level. They see a couple of based and mid portrayals of Dionysus and think they know enough about him. That's an issue i see in retellings of people constantly making him a caricature because of this surface narrative.

In regards on how Dionysus was portrayed in this year's Olympics's ceremony, i would like to start a petition to start portraying Dionysus in general as a handsome, charismatic man.

It's time to stop glorifying this false image of him (drunk, useless, laughing stock) so let's make a start, here's how i draw him for example:

Where does Dionysus hear all his gossip?

I am looking for a Percy Jackson fanfiction. I read the 5 first books a long while ago, so I don't remember much. But I am looking for a fic that has Dionysus as some kind of uncle/father figure to all demigods.

Now, I know this is fully ooc, but he is the one with the best chances of understanding what it is like to be in their place because he used to be a demigod himself. I read the book of Percy Jackson narrating the stories of the Olympians and there he explained how Dionysus mother was a demigod, daughter of Poseidon, I think.

Hera was responsible for a lot of shit that happened to him afterwards.

He would know what it's like to be mortal, to have friends and a loving and very HUMAN family and have it taken away from you for something that was not your doing.

Then, he married Ariadna, a princess and mortal made immortal so they'd be able to be together. That's when his dislike for demigods started, but really, I don't think that to be enough for him to hate them, not really.

And he cares about his own children, he showed it. I think he has only one set of children too. And being at camp means that he is probably the most present parent of every Olympian.

My point, I want a fic where he clearly is angry at the rest of the Olympians for their treatment to their children but tries so much to hide it, where he is sick and fed up of watching for centuries how they play with kids like they were toys, how they abandon them to survive in a world that essentially wants them dead. I want him to be sick of watching them pay for the broken plates they didn't even touch, of the unfair punishments and the times when one of them is killed or cursed by one Olympian because of what other Olympian too powerful to be attacked did (*cof*Zeus and Hera*cofcof*).

I want him there, not knowing what to do to help, wanting to help but being unable to. He was forbidden of drinking wine by Zeus, he was basically expelled from his own domain. How much influence over him does Zeus then posses?

I want Dionysus angry and furious with the Olympians.

I want him resenting Quiron too, maybe, for sending demigod after demigod on quests. Maybe just at the beginning, until they reach some understanding. Until they get each other a bit better, until they understand that they are on the same page.

I want Dionysus worried and annoyed and doing his best to keep the other kids at arms length but unable to.

I want him trying so desperately to pretend that ge doesn't care and doesn't want to be there because he is worried, worried for the kids that go on quests, worried for those who leave camp after summer, for those who haven't reached camp yet, for those who just arrived and just can't understand yet what is happening and have no idea... They think the worst is over but it isn't, it never is...

And he is worried, over all, that if any of the others ever finds out just how much he actually cares, they will take everything away from him.

Zeus hates Mr D because he knows he'll eventually overthrow him

Throughout Greek mythology it's believed the youngest takes the throne of God king. Like Zeus did from Kronos, guess who Zeus's youngest son is? What if Zeus had an alternative reason for being so harsh to Dionysus? What if he's TRYING to keep him away because he knows. He knows eventually he'll threaten his power. He knows eventually he'll threaten his throne.

Alternative au where Luke realizes this and instead of going to Kronos rebukes Hermes and makes Dionysus adopt him and they work together to start making life better for half bloods and eventually overthrowing Zeus. Chiron and Hephaestus secretly join in cause they're all for the screw Zeus club.

Bonus fluff Chiron actually has no problem secretly helping and supporting Dionysus because A he's basically raised his nephew and you can't tell me they don't have a family dynamic and B he knows he'll be much better than Zeus cause at least he won't bang anything with legs

Mr D/Chiron

y'all I hate saying this cause I would love it otherwise but Dionysus is Zeus's son. Chiron is Zeus's brother. You see?

He’s with me.

He’s with me as I roll on the floor and scream out my heart, tossing around my hair and letting my voice ring out. His voice rings out with mine, clawing the ground alongside me, relishing in wild emotion.

In the feels of dancing. Vigorous motion of my own design, He dances with me. Curls unable to be tamed and eyes that hold a wild desire. Living in the moment of pure ecstasy and love for the art.

In the lows, in the darkness of the most grim corners. In the seemingly forgotten, in the instinct for survival.

In the highs, in the most colorful scenery. Senses filled with a glorious awakening, instinct for living life.

He’s with me.

Linked in arms, dance with me. Wine was spilt, not for three. More for two, two linked in hand. Hand-in-hand, watch them go. Laughter like grapes, complex like vines. They dance to their own design. Around the fire, through the woods. Calm mundane moments, love not misunderstood. Hand-in-hand, linked in embrace.
