Yet the question remains; who is being stabbed?
What, you egg?
I cant find my Magolor holding a kitchen knife edit but that's what my answer would have been
hello everyone today I'm thinking about how Magolor cries for Kirby to help him during his true arena theme. how is everyone else's morning going
TARANZA WITH FUZZY LITTLE SPIDER PAWS... I'm passing out from cuteness. I can't see a Taranza this cute and not reblog him.

THE BOOPS HAVE RETURNED!!! READY YOUR FINEST SOLDIER TO BE BOOPED RELENTLESSLY
Hey Kirby. If you touch this laptop. Did it can send you to 1999 and make you transform into classic-self
This is the laptop
I would like to say hello to everyone!
Ah, another visitor!
Magolor's ears perked up at the sound of the other's voice. Looking up from his desk and the paperwork he was working on, he greeted the newcomer with a smile.
"Hello hello, and welcome to Merry Magoland! Home to the very best theme park games in the universe!"
"I assure you, all of the attractions here are completely safe, with only a 2.285% chance of death!"
The sound of an exploding bomb went off in the distance, coming from one of the attractions.
"Totally harmless!!"
The mage clapped his hands together, his grin (...did it feel this sinister a minute ago?) never faltering in the slightest.
"Go on, now! Check out anything and everything that catches your eye! And if you'd like to purchase some fun masks, talk to the Waddle Dee vendor running that cart on your left!"
Ah, this person had said they wanted to say 'hi' to everyone, right?
"Oh, and if you're looking for any of my friends, I'm sure they're still here having a blast playing my games, hehe!" Perhaps even literally!

I didn't actually realize this! I never played with Helper Magolor active dgshsf
But that's interesting.
I had been inclined to say that space-related magic was just its own thing that also happened to sometimes be associated with purple and dark colours, but. Hm.
Back down into the rabbit hole I go lmao
I mentioned it briefly in the tags of my previous update, but the colours of space/portal-related magic is pretty inconsistent throughout the series. I'm sure there's a ton of other examples I'm missing, but to give a few...
Some are dark and purple like Magolor's, such as Marx's black hole attack and the portal Galacta Knight comes through in Star Allies:
Though these ones are more of a blue-ish purple compared to Magolor's pink-ish purple.
Galacta Knight himself is unique with his pink dimensional rift attacks:
Here are examples of the portals in the Magolor Epilogue:
As I've said previously, Elfilin's portals are similar to the ones in the Epilogue, being white with a blue outline:
Although Elfilis is actually different and has a light purple outline:
The Lor creates portals with white and blue outlines, which I've also already said before:
However, so does Magolor when he uses his powers from the Master Crown to open a portal:
I'm. Not really sure why these differences exist! Elfilis in particular really throws things off dgdhshf.
Originally, I was thinking that the colours of the portal were dependent on the type of portal it was. Gateways to other dimensions that are used to travel large distances are white and light blue. Portals that deal with things that are more like pocket dimensions and not necessarily actual places are black and purple—this most commonly applies to black-hole type attacks, but for Magolor's Dimensional Vanish ability, maybe he temporarily dips into a pocket dimension or something like that? And then he travels through that in order to 'teleport', which is faster than travelling through the 'real world'. (Sidenote, but I imagine Meta Knight's teleportation with the Dimensional Cape is the same deal). And I guess Galacta Knight's prison could be a similar situation, where maybe he was thrown into a pocket dimension of sorts.
And Galacta Knight's pink attack is just kinda its own thing. It's not really a portal, but rather a tear in the fabric of time and space.
But Elfilis contradicts that, since the portal they open to Popstar has lavender edges, rather than white and blue.
...Actually wait it could still work! Maybe?
It's just that Elfilis' portal is both. It is a portal to another actual location, but it also has properties of black-hole-type portals, with the way it drags in everything around it, even from far distances. Whereas white and blue portals are more passive, and usually allow you to get fairly close to them without getting dragged through. And maybe that's also why Elfilis' portal is light purple, too: it's a mix of the white from the travel portals and the purple from black hole/pocket dimension portals.
Anyway, back to Magolor!
Another interesting thing to note is that when he teleports away as Helper Magolor, that magic sigil thing that (I assume) he uses to create the portal stays for the whole animation. Meanwhile, during and after the Epilogue, he doesn't use that sigil at all when performing his Dimensional Vanish.
I'd be willing to guess that's a result of him getting stronger during the Epilogue; possibly due to the Master Crown, or because of the Gem Apple slices or just all the magic energy he gathered.
And yeah, like you said, the change in colour could be yet another change caused by the Master Crown's corruption! Though considering that other black portals exist, I could also believe that the change is just a result of the spell getting stronger instead (which could also be why it becomes more opaque too). But it could also be that Marx's black hole attack and the portal to summon Galacta Knight (which was done by Hyness in Star Allies) both use a bit of dark magic as well. It could go either way!
Thank you for pointing out that little detail!
Thinking about how Magolor's electric ball attacks look nothing like any other instances of electricity in the games that I can recall (particularly in Star Allies), but do resemble Gooey's Dark Laser attacks quite a bit
Felt like drawing some stuff based on this headcanon/theory of mine, that Magolor's magic was permanently tainted as a result of the Master Crown eating his soul! So! Here he is with a more common colour of magic electric sphere, as well as a first reaction to what the attack looks like post-possession.
Maggy: *chuckles* nice try but my Taranza has a gem apple tree infront of our house.
Maggy: you know the crystal applies kinda taste like apple pie when you crack them open? Only the skins crystallized! Taranza helps me crack them open though

(Hopefully final) UPDATE:
When I made the last post, I only looked at the attacks that the wiki said gave the "Zap" attribute, when searching for other instances of electric attacks in Star Allies. This means I only checked the movesets of playable characters and not any bosses (aside from Zan Partizanne).
So! Quick lightning round (hehe) of updates: Kracko does have one attack with pink lightning, but it basically looks like Taranza's Sectonia attack, so Magolor's Dark Electricity is still unique. Void Termina has the usual yellow/green/blue electricity (like allies with the Zap attribute!).
More importantly, however (and the reason I made an extra post), is Hyness.
Now, Hyness' electric attacks are nothing of note--they're the same yellow/green/blue colour as nearly every other electric attack in the game. However, take a look at these two other attacks of his instead:
For comparison, here's Magolor's again:
The two attacks are nearly identical! The only differences are the trails behind them, and the little lightning bolts inside Magolor's spheres that Hyness' lack (which makes sense! Magolor's attack is electric-elemented, while Hyness' is elementless).
So, what does this mean? I've got two ideas:
1. Purple is just the colour of generic, elementless magic.
It does make sense? Like, if I were to pick a "generic magic" colour, it'd be either pink or purple.
This also fits in with how Magolor's magic bombs in the Epilogue and his Deadly Spikes are purple and elementless.
It does mean tragic things for how much my "Magolor's magic was corrupted by the Master Crown" theory/headcanon is supported by canon though </3 Still gonna stick with it regardless though, since it still does make logical sense for something like that to happen.
And even still, that still makes Magolor's electric spheres really weird, and this time it's in a way that I can't find an explanation I'm fully happy with. His spheres are electricity contained inside a shell of generic magic. Why? None of Magolor's other spells are like that. No other magic in general is like that in Star Allies (aside from potentially Taranza). It's perfectly possible to create magical balls of pure electricity, as proven by Zan Partizanne, Spark, and Beam. Does that mean Magolor is actually worse at electricity than other forms of magic? So the spell needs to be mostly Generic Magic with only a little bit of lightning encased inside?? But then why is that attack (which is still electric-elemented) the only spell he can still cast when he loses everything in the Epilogue? If he was bad at electricity magic, it should be one of the last things he relearns.
Taranza's similar magic spheres are also just Generic Magic, I guess (again, following Star Allies where the attacks are elementless). But maybe they also have some other type of magic stored inside them, hence why they glow? Or maybe it's just a higher concentration of magic in the orb that causes the glow, which is also why the attack is more solid (it bounces off walls) and more opaque than Magolor and Hyness' spheres.
2. Purple is the colour of dark magic.
Supporting evidence: Hyness' spheres look very similar to the giant Dark Heart in the background, which we know to be composed entirely of negative energy and is generally strongly related to Dark Matter/dark magic
Hyness also declares himself and his cult and/or species to be "masters of a matter most dark" during his rant before you fight him.
Magolor's spheres, then, are a combination of electricity and dark magic, while Hyness' are pure dark magic! Which works with my original headcanon/theory! Magolor's main magic spheres pre-possession were entirely made of electricity, but the corruption and soul-eating from the Master Crown permanently infused dark magic into the attack (and also permanently tainted his magic in general).
Like I've said before, in my opinion, the reason the corruption only shows in his electric attacks and not in, say, his Revolution Flame or wind-elemented Magolor Surge is because electricity magic is his natural inclination. It's the type of magic closest to his core being, the ability he can summon with very little effort. Fire and wind magic, meanwhile, is comparatively more difficult to cast, since it's further away from his core. The specialized form his magic needs to take on for those types of spells kinda diminishes the effects of the Dark Matter corruption, at least in appearance. I could see all of his magic having a slight effect similar to dark magic/Dark Matter's attacks in addition to whatever element the spell is actually supposed to be, too, though.
Maybe Dark Matter's magic, while being elementless/dark magic, is also closest to electricity out of the 'natural' types of elemental magic? Considering how the Dark Lasers do resemble lightning, even if the attack isn't actually electric. So maybe it's also easier for Dark Matter to 'infect' electricity magic compared to the other elements, I dunno.
This would also suggest that Magolor's Deadly Spikes are also dark magic, which is fine by me, actually! With some of his magical skills in the Epilogue (specifically Levitation, Magolor Surge and Magic Bomb), Magolor specifically says that he used to be able to use them before he lost all his powers, and is glad that he can still do them when he gets those abilities back. He does not say that for the Deadly Spikes, though! So it's fair to say that he learned that attack for the first time during the Epilogue, and wasn't something he ever knew how to do previously. And so, the reason he can use a dark magic attack like that at all could be due to the Master Crown's influence and soul-eating.
His Magic Bombs, meanwhile, I'd say had their appearance corrupted just like his electric spheres were. Maybe that's even part of why he switches to his Gem Apple Bombs by the time Star Allies rolls around? It helps hide the corruption.
This would also suggest that Taranza is a dark mage! But the reason he has that ability is entirely separate from Dark Matter (which could also be why his attacks look different from Magolor and Hyness'). It's just his natural "core" type of magic, like how Magolor's is lightning! Hyness, meanwhile, could probably go either way! Given that he, like Magolor, can wield a wide variety of elemental magic, I could see him maybe being born with one of those as his "core" magic. But he also had his magic corrupted by Dark Matter---willingly, in his case---at some point in his life, in service of/to be closer to his Dark Lord. Or maybe he was just born with dark magic. I guess it could depend on whether him being a "master of a matter most dark" is a species thing or a cult thing. In any case, nowadays, dark magic would definitely be his natural inclination!
...Or I guess another option is that both ideas are true! Purple can just mean different things for magic! Like how wind and electricity magic can both be associated with green. For Hyness and Magolor, their purple magic is the result of dark magic. For Taranza, it's highly condensed and concentrated Generic Magic, which is why it's also very bright and glowy!
Anyway, yeah! I think it's neat how Hyness and Magolor basically share an attack, and I'm glad I caught that detail. I'm definitely leaning more towards that specific attack being dark magic (or tainted by dark magic in Magolor's case) rather than generic magic, since that supports my headcanon/theory better dgsgshfh. And plus it just makes more sense to me! But, I'd like to suggest all the possibilities I can think of, in the interest of fairness!
Thinking about how Magolor's electric ball attacks look nothing like any other instances of electricity in the games that I can recall (particularly in Star Allies), but do resemble Gooey's Dark Laser attacks quite a bit
( @nocturneofoddity )
For the second thing, nope! Magolor's basic magic sphere with no charge is still electric-elemented (and so is the attack at its first level of charge). I speak from recent experience, since I've been grinding out a bit of Star Allies' Guest Star mode lately, and always have Magolor in the party when I can! He doesn't need to charge his attack in order to imbue other allies' weapons with lightning.
But as a further bit of proof, you can also see that there's a little electric effect when enemies are hit by the attack:
( ^ Also gonna note that the same is true in the Epilogue too, even if this is mainly about Star Allies)
You do need to fully charge the attack for it to eventually become fire-elemented, though! Maybe that's what you were thinking of?
Gonna put the rest of this under a cut, since it's gonna be long dgdhshf ((Update after finishing writing the post: can confirm, it's Extremely long lmao))
You do have a point about Taranza, though! To compare the two attacks...
Magolor:
Taranza:
The two are very similar! Though they're not quite the same; Magolor's has that little lightning-like design inside the sphere, while Taranza's is more glowy, just in general.
That said, Taranza's attack also isn't electric-elemented---at least in Star Allies, anyway. In both Clash games, I will give you that both attacks have the lightning effect when Kirby is hit by them. I don't know why that's different in Star Allies (especially since Taranza still does supply the electric element with his Sectonia attack!). Should it be considered retconned? Or different Taranzas with slightly different abilities (both Clashes' Taranzas do look different from our usual one)? I dunno, but the information is there.
Also, while I'm posting images, here's a look at Gooey's laser attacks:
(Which, again, aren't actually electric-elemented, but do bear similarities to Magolor's electric spheres. Though admittedly it is less than I initially thought, now that I'm able to see them side by side. But I guess also at the same time, it's comparing orbs to spear-like attacks.)
And the only other instances of purple electricity in Star Allies, from ESP, Beam, Doc from Daroach (...kinda. It still does grant the electric power though), and Taranza's Sectonia attack:
Spark is green or blue depending on the attack, and Adeleine's summoned Kracko painting is blue. I didn't check Zan Partizanne's moves outside of her boss fight, but I'm fairly certain her stuff is primarily yellow with maybe the occasional green or blue flash.
So Magolor's electric attacks are still very noticeably different from any others in Star Allies!
Looking at these attacks borderline frame-by-frame also caused me to notice that weird, dark, smokey trail behind Magolor's spheres. Taranza's similar-looking spheres don't have that, and certainly neither do any of the game's other electric attacks. The trail also just. Doesn't give Electric Vibes. Mind you, Gooey's dark lasers don't have anything like it either.
And now. I'm about to make a massive stretch BUT---
Eh? Ehhhh? Dgdhsffg
Anyway. Back to Taranza. All of his attacks, aside from the one where he summons the Dreamstalk, are pink and/or purple. I'm guessing it's just the natural colour of his magic? I dunno, dghghsf. Maybe it's possible that Taranza's specifically a dark mage? And so he just naturally has a slight overlap with Dark Matter magic-wise, even though they're completely unrelated to each other?? All the canon descriptions of him (e.g., pause screen stuff) that I could find listed on the wiki just call him a "magician" or a "puppeteer" though, so there's nothing to confirm that. ...And. There is also a Bright Glowing Light coming from the center of his magic orbs so djhgdhf. Or it's just. A Generic Manifestation Of Magic, and it's purple because that's just the colour Taranza's magic defaults to when there's a high concentration of it packed into one ball. And that's why it's elementless. ...Except that it's Not elementless in the Clash games. I Dunno. I don't like the inconsistency dgshgfhdsf. Especially since Star Allies (including Wave 3) was released in between the two Clash games
Magolor, though, is very much a versatile, generalist elemental mage. He can use lightning, fire, and wind magic (which does raise the more lighthearted question of why he doesn't know water or ice magic. haha catboy doesn't like water, and Frozen Water is just as bad dghsgf), as well as some dimensional stuff with his teleportation and black holes. Lightning is most likely his 'default' element and the one he finds easiest to use, seeing as that's what his most basic attacks are (and is also the only ability he keeps, and least in some form, when he loses all of his other powers). Which, actually, also fits quite well with his affinity for tech! I like that
...I. Am just rambling at this point dhggshgf
Anyway. Yes! You are right about some of Taranza's attacks looking similar to Magolor's electric spheres. Whether or not Taranza's magic is also electricity-based is. Weirdly Inconsistent. And I don't quite know what to make of it, because there really is no reason for it not to be electric in Star Allies if it's supposed to be. Still, at least as far as Star Allies specifically is concerned, Magolor's electric attacks are very different from every other instance of it (and it's. certainly Interesting to see when you've got the rest of your party powered up by his lightning, and everyone's attacks are all yellow n' stuff and then there's his Dark Purple Orbs).
If we're okay to follow Star Allies and say that most of Taranza's magic is not electrical (and the Clash universe's Taranza is just Built Different, on top of looking different), then I Think it might be okay to just brush him aside? He's got his own thing going on with his own type of magic, and it doesn't affect the fact that Magolor's specifically electricity magic is Weird As Hell and Not Normal. Since even Taranza's one electric attack in Star Allies, while pink, is still Light and Bright and also has yellow lightning bolts in it, with no dark colours to be found outside of the Sectonia illusion.
So! I'm gonna go with the thought that Magolor's electric spheres weren't always purple! They used to be one of the more standard electricity magic colours. But! After the possession and Soul Eating done by the Master Crown, his magic was permanently Tainted by Dark Matter. The other types of elemental magic he uses are different enough from his base and need to be more... Refined? Specially crafted? ((it's 3:30am for me at this point and I Cannot think of the exact word(s) I want dghsgfhfh)) in order to use cast them, so you don't really notice the corruption in those spells. But for the default, most natural manifestation of his magic? The type closest to his core being? It's very clearly been visually altered. (And perhaps its effects have changed a little too? Like, it's still lightning, but maybe getting hit by it feels somewhat Different compared to other forms of lightning magic. An added touch of... Whatever Dark Matter projectiles would do to you gdgfdfb. An added chill of sorts?)
He... Doesn't like to think about the changes much.
