#MeetTheMaker 😍 SILVER LININGS Has 2021 also been kind of a weird year for you so far? Not bad, just a little— awkward. 🌙 On going and residual Rona mandates have made the first quarter of 2021 awkward. I can’t think of any other suitable adjective. I have tried my best to stay off of the all mighty F😵 Book because of the constant drama and hatred from everyone. I have friends in every camp and it all is too extreme and too loud for me. 🌙 Which brings me to my silver linings: ⚡️ I have found an absolutely wonderful community of artists on Insta and TikTok that are very supportive and friendly. ⚡️ My Patrons have been super awesome this year. Especially since everything that’s been going on the last year has been really hard on a lot of people. So the support that I’ve been shown has been astounding. I love all my patrons, short and long term. ✨ ⚡️ I started a small group on Discord for fellow Patre⭐️ n creators to be a sounding board for one another. ⚡️ Residual closures have led me to buy all kinds of preset supplies... nope... would have done that anyway. 😉 ⚡️ And I have found the time for my daily creative practice and personal betterment. #MarchMeetTheMaker 🎨 COLOR 🧡Color is so important!!! It’s not usually my first thought, however. I like to fly by the seat of my pants. Let the mood take me somewhere. But after the sketch stage, I like to lay down the base colors. 💜 For today’s prompt I wanted to show off my regular color palettes. Maybe you can see my love of rich colors. Those deep blues, plums, and dark moss colors give me the warm and tingly feelings. Not because they are bad, but because the learning curve for digital art is kind of steep. 💜 This particular piece would be muh better in color like this. Right now it is actually black and white. I would also add a few more feature lines around the nose. #MarchMeetTheMaker 🦓 PORTRAIT 🦓 Do you remember Fruit Stripe gum? And how every piece came with temporary tattoos? That used to be my favorite and this background in my self-portrait reminds me so much of the colorful zebra stripes. 🦓 Some things you may not know about me: other girls wanted a pony when they were little, I wanted a pet zebra. I have never gone “with the grain “ on anything in my life and I’m not sure I know how. 🦓 I am an avid reader. I have 16 tattoos, most of which are very large. I am a recovering bread-aholic. I also have a mini farm with sheep, goats, Rabbits, one duck, and two dogs. The German Shepherd is most certainly my husband’s dog. But Grimm, the fluffy Belgian Shepherd, is my dog. And I have an 11 year old daughter that doesn’t help with any of it. 😂 🦓 I have always been a real outdoorsy person. I love hiking, backpacking, camping, and I live for bonfires. #MarchMeetTheMaker ✨SMALL DETAIL 🐻 For me, the small details in each piece are everything. I love the very end when I can add little highlights here and there, showing where the light is hitting objects around it. 🐻 I take my time on those subtle details that, very likely, I am the only one that notices. #marchmeetthemaker 💜 BELIEFS & VALUES ✨ The first thing that comes to mind is my whole reason for starting Ursa Ink: Just be WEIRD! ✨ I can not count the times I have shown someone my sketches or something I was drawing only to receive a long pause followed by, “Hmm. Okay.” or “... that’s... different”. ✨ I have learned to embrace my weirdness. My art isn’t for everyone and that’s alright. I rather create things I am passionate about and make me happy than to always cater to the taste of others. It is difficult to wait for your fans to find you. #MarchMeetTheMaker ✨ Hi guys! I’m excited to participate in @joannehawker ‘s prompt list this month. 💜 Today I wanted to share my brand with you. I am Sarah and I started Ursa Ink last summer. My logo is a fun, vibrant purple with a bear holding an edelweiß flower. It both represents my Alpine heritage and the connection of bears to my life. The name Ursa Ink comes from the art of ink itself and also a little tip of the hat to my passion for astronomy. 💜 I created Ursa Ink in response to an urge to better myself during quarantine. My “regular” day job of teaching art to grade school students came to a sudden halt last year which led into summer. I began my mission to create art for MYSELF for a change. Weird art that I love to make and love to enjoy. 💜 I always say that I am a very mercurial person. Consistency drives me crazy! I like to create lots of different things in lots of different genres. The one thing that never changes is my primal drive to MAKE stuff with my hands. It makes me who I am.
