"This language can be forced on plurals and systems in an invalidating way" and "this language is extremely validating to some plurals and systems" are statements that can coexist. I think so many people are familiar with the first that they forget the second. The harm comes from pushing parts language onto people, not from people choosing to use it because it resonates with them. It's equally as harmful to discourage someone using parts language for themselves because of how it makes you feel.
This is by no means a 1:1 comparison, but think of how some people find being called queer validating and empowering while others feel the exact opposite and would rather not. That is a choice they make based on how it makes them personally feel and what it means to them.
Hot take but we HATE how parts language is always talked down on, attacked, and torn apart by the plural community. Just because you don’t use it for yourselves doesn’t mean it’s bad or wrong!
Those who identify with parts language aren’t “less than whole.” They’re not “less than a person.” They’re not less than anything! They are systems and they are deserving of dignity and respect just like everyone else.
We use parts language and we are dismayed and greatly pained to see the plural community, OUR community, so quick to bash and tear down the language that we find affirming. It makes us feel left out of our own community, downtrodden and cast aside.
