German-American adventures continue.
FRISCHLUFT IST BESTE. Since I was little, I’ve had it instilled in me at home and in school that windows should be opened a bit frequently to let in fresh air, to the point my classroom once proudly had a little device to measure air quality. What Ludwig means by “kipp” is that a lot of windows are set up here so that you can “tilt” them - opening them a little without actually opening them, which is neat! And a great way to let in some of that fresh, fresh air. In German you say that the window is “auf kipp”. The second post on my dash when I logged on to post this was actually a post about our supposed obsession with this haha.
Since most European homes don’t have air-conditioning, we also have to rely on what we do with our windows to help regulate temperature. Or at least that’s what we do lmao, when it’s as unnaturally hot as it currently is in summer, sometimes the best thing to do in the evening is to open every window and every door in the apartment and get a draft going so the place cools down a little.
It was really strange to me when talking with my American friends who do not feel the intense need to tilt open your window every few hours to get fresh air (and yes I know this is partially because you often have air conditioning and because of other factors) so I’ve wanted to draw something about this for ages! I love these little cultural differences that don’t seem significant and you don’t think about but are just kind of fun.

“I’ll tell you what -- keep the hat on.” In a matter of words; Alfred agreed. No one wishes to see that happen. Now to tackle the next issue. The growing list of needs the elder man came with pulled Alfred into giving up ground; unneeded and Alfred promised to have Ivan cough it back up when the time called for Alfreds turn to be needy. “We can get a drink after. Like, how long do you think well be out? I’m not here to torture you.”

“You can’t escape by going into the bar; I’ll just show them one of these.” Alfred flashes an ID with the wrong age he’s presenting as, a suspicious 21, but nothing they can prove wrong. “And I’ll buy out just about the entire bar so there’s only enough for sleazy blowjob, but you need to drink it r i g h t.” “Or we go to the mall, as I suggested,” a very strong suggestion. “I’ll buy you an outfit so you fit in a little better here. It’s too warm for that.”

These are what get my muse going!

Batting his eyes, Alfred pulled the age card from his deck to hopefully ensure his own way, holding out for Fannar to fall into flattery. “I’d also like to remind you that as the older and host -- you should let me let me pick. You can pick when you visit me next. Deal??”
