Kuroo: I'm going on an adventure with Bo for the weekend. You gonna be okay without me here?
Kenma, not looking up from his DS: Are you kidding? I'm gonna be even better with you gone. That means non-stop gaming!
Kuroo: Just remember to eat, you crackhead.
*the next day*
Kenma, exaggeratingly loud to no one whatsoever: Man, I've been playing this game for like six whole hours! Sure is great to be able to play for another ten without someone to stop me!
Akaashi, walking in Kenma's room: You miss him, don't you?
Kenma: What? I don't care that he's gone. It's better this way. As I said, no one can stop me.
Akaashi, sighing: It's time to eat, Kenma.
Kenma, crying: That's what Kuroo would say!
Akaashi: So you do?
Kenma: *nods*
Akaashi, also crying: Okay, good 'cause I'm missing Bokuto like crazy but I can't let anyone else on my team know! Can I stay here with you and we can eat ice cream and talk about them???
Kenma, already moving over to make more room: Fuck yeah!
Bonus:

The rehearsal studio smelled like perfume and sweat. Kenmaâs hands were trembling against the barre, knuckles white, trying not to cry.
âYou werenât supposed to take the role,â he said, voice a half-gone whisper.
Kuroo didnât respond at first. He stood by the center mark, hair tousled from the practice. The light hit him perfectly. Principal dancer. Star of the show.
âYou dropped out, Kenma,â he said finally. It sounded like an excuse.
âI sprained my ankle. I told the director Iâd be back in two weeks at most. It wasnât permanent.â Kenma turned around. His cat eyes sharp as the cuts in their pas de deux. âYou told me youâd cover for me, not replace me.â
Kuroo looked down, jaw clenching. âThe galaâs in six days. They needed someone.â
âThey needed you, apparently.â He spit. The air between them crackled.Â
Kenma took a step forward. A jolt shot through his joints. He wasnât supposed to be dancing yet, but heâd been practicing alone. Hidden. Waiting for his return to the stage where he belonged. But this was wrong. It was supposed to be with Kuroo. âYou couldâve said no.â Tears ebbed at the corners of his eyes.
âI couldnât,â Kuroo said, swallowing. âYou donât get it, Kenma. This isnât like before. They were going to pull the entire piece if they didnât have a name. I thoughtâŠâ
âWhat? That Iâd be okay with you dancing our routine with someone else?â
âItâs not like that.â
âDonât lie to me!â
Kuroo moved toward him, but Kenma backed away.
âI trusted you,â Kenma said again, softer this time, like a ghost speaking from beyond. âOut of everyone in this company, you. You were supposed to be on my side.â
Kuroo ruffled, âI am on your side, goddammit!â
âThen why does it feel like Iâve been pushed offstage?â The silence returned, heavier now. Harsher.
Kuroo reached out, his hand hovering over Kenmaâs shoulder. So close to touching, but not daring to make contact. âI didnât want to lose it,â he said. âThe piece. Us. I thought if I could keep it alive until you were ready-â
âYou killed it,â Kenma said, full tears spilling over âBecause now every time I hear that music, I wonât think of us. Iâll think of you and her.â
Kuroo flinched. âI just wanted to protect it,â he whispered.
Kenma looked at him for a long moment. Then, finally, stepped forward and rested his forehead against Kurooâs shoulder. âYou canât protect something by pretending it doesnât hurt,â he said, voice cracking. âNext time... just dance with me. Or not at all.â
Kuroo wrapped his arms around him, tentative, guilty. âNext time,â he promised.
